People wonder why solo survivors play selfishly for hatch
Every game I've played today trying to do hatch challenge survivors have waited at the exit gate until EGC has finished. I've been doing gens, saves and chases and yet my team just want to t-bag until the game finishes.
Decided to play a game where I hid until everyone was dead and I got the hatch first try. Only 2 more to go. Sorry team!

People who hide all game are part of the problem, that includes you now. Congratulations on continuing the cycle of making solo miserable.

I wonder if there's any possibility that challenges affect kill rates?

Probably they were waiting for you? Maybe tell them in chat before that you have hatch challenge and they should leave through gate if they can.

I'm playing on PS5 so don't have that luxury and had a key so it was pretty obvious.

If my solo queue matches are consistently insufferable and my potato teammates are getting snowballed by a camping killer at 4 gens or not doing gens at all then the only viable option is hatch, forget the useless teammates theyโve ruined my match anyway.

I think is an obvious "YES". Maybe not directly but indirectly yes. For example the white glyph challenge, survivors might use a lot of time to do them which in the whole game can cost them the round.

Sure, because somehow players are suppose to be mind readers and know you are doing a challenge.
Also, survivors have been playing selfishly since before the hatch challenge. So I guess now they can just use that as an excuse.

Or maybe survivors should just leave when they open the exit gate instead of taunting the killer.

Thatโs true sadly but the archives encourage this behaviour way more.
For example the green glyph challenge forces you waste a ton of time to find meaningless objectives after your team does gens
Or even the key hatch challenge. That literally forces you to play scummy to get it

Did it occur to you that they don't know that you looking for hatch and just buying you some time? Playing scumbag, framing 3 people that do nothing wrong really great, don't complain when it backfires and you need to do escape challenge, but everyone dies on hook or farm you.

Generally I can't tell if they're field tests for alternative objectives, or promoting self-sandbagging in an attempt to address the efficiency cap situation. Either way, you're both right imo.

I wish it made it clear that a hatch escape was not an escape but a concession.
You are not winning by screwing over your team for the hatch.
Now I fully endorse running perks like Sole Survivor, as an insurance policy against those games that go downhill fast, and I enjoy trying to get an exit open before the killer comes for me as the last remaining survivor. But a hatch escape is not a win in my book.

Glad you decided to share with everyone how part of a problem of solo q you are. @Phasmamain as you can see, it is not an "archive" only problem, since people like this keep doing it.

They often do. You just think they donโt because you had a handful of matches where they didnโt.
This still doesnโt excuse the unsportsmanlike playstyle you chose to play. You are literally trying to blame the teammates you let die for the tbags the other players did. So in the end you are no better than the people who chose not to leave and tbagged.

Never said it was solely an archive problem. The archive just encourages regular players into this behaviour by rewarding them for doing so.
This isnโt a dbd only issue either. Basically any game with solo queue is bound to be a shitshow. Iโve played OW, Smite, LOL and even co-op games like back 4 blood.

Granted, but that's not the argument I'm defending. My argument in response to your original comment was simply survivors should just leave after opening the exit gate, instead of taunting the killer.
I'm happy playing selfishly to complete an annoying challenge after I've made several attempts to do it fairly. I also know I'm a fantastic team mate when I'm not doing challenges so the odd selfish game here and there doesn't eat away at my conscience ๐

I mean in my defence it is definitely an archive problem because I'm only playing like this because of the challenge ๐ I don't 'keep doing it'.

Yeah, I had a challenge to cleanse 2 totems. Spawned in next to one at the start, along with Meg and Ash. They saw me start cleansing it and tried to emote me off of it so they can boon it, but I cleansed it anyway. Then they followed me around, sandbagging, trying to bodyblock me into corners and made loud noises until the killer showed up.

You insinuated by your own title that survivors play selfishly because other teammates t bag and donโt leave. When in reality that is not the reason why.
You claim you played like that because of your challenge, so in reality you played selfishly because of your challenge not because of other people not leaving.

Archives are 100% of why solo is still interesting to me.
But I hate it, as killer and as survivor trying to get hatch archive objectives, that most players don't seem to realize that they can exit through the gate without the killer being in less than 5m distance and before the EGC is in its last few seconds.
If the game is over, just leave. Especially when everybody is accounted for.

You're right, I played like this because of my challenge, and yes my title could insinuate that but that isn't what I'm insinuating.
The title, other than attracting attention, is simply suggesting people wouldn't play selfishly if the challenges didn't rely on the behaviour of other survivors. In my case, hanging around the exit gates when trying to escape through hatch.
Maybe I didn't articulate myself as clearly as you would have liked, but I thought my post was pretty clear.

Playing selfish and hiding for hatch is fine.
I only dislike teammate who loop the Killer next to the hook or make the generator explode. Throwing me under the bus is fair if you just stand by that and say it. No pretending that you are a "good teammate", just say that you want to escape and do not care about me, I can respect that. The goal is to survive after all.

Did you tell them in pre-match chat that you try to go ofr that challenge? Because most of the time i announce my challenges or dailys, the other survivors help me do it, like stopping opening the exit gate so i can finish and such.

You have to learn how to balance contribution to team effort and knowing when to be selfish. Do at least the total of 2 gens, 1 rescue if possible, and the rest is up to you. Then at end game, go for hatch. Hide in a locker if you must but don't throw the game for the other survivors because you need to get the hatch. It's also good to know where the hatch will spawn most of the time. If there's a shack, it's near there. If there is a hill, most likely on top of it. And always make sure to have a map or Bill's perk to find hatch. The last thing solo q needs is a player not contributing because they need hatch. At least do something, even if you're not taking risks.

He played for it normally and teams wait in exit gate, either to help surv or bm killer. It's pretty normal, you can only get hatch if the game goes badly. So throwing a game or two to get the challenge isn't unreasonable if it's unattainable otherwise. Myself I'd just play swf. But hey.

My hatred for RPD, and my desire to get the stupid exit gate achievement has lead me to run a sole survivor build that is currently 5 wins 3 losses on that map.
So, in conclusion, whether it be positive or negative, you can bet your booty achievements, archives, and side objectives have quantifiable impacts on escape rates.

I have zero expectations from solo q teammates, if they are not helpful it's no news, if they are actually good i take is a pleasant surprise

The head turnings fine imo, at the end of the day every conclusion drawn against that data can be scrutinized on its own merits. Some will perform better than others.

Oh of course it can be scrutinized, I'd rather persuade people to consider it in the first place before ignoring things like that to go on constant back and forth arguments and pointlessly ignore the warnings direct from the horse's mouth that the data is wildly incomplete to be used in arguments. Being told something and figuring it out on your own tend to hit different.

No, what he did is present us with an anecdote about how survivors in his matches were more concerned about t-bagging the killer and as a result he/she could not get hatch... thus THAT must makes solo survivors play selfishly. ๐คฃ

Problem is if you're on console you can't do that cause 80% of people have their profiles set to friend only messages. It's not like the PC where you can chat easily.

It doesn't matter why you did it (yes this includes a tome challenge), you were still playing selfishly. Because those of us who have gotten the challenge without the need to sacrifice the rest of the team know this.
The only difference I see between those survivors who t-bagged, and you, is that you had something to gain, they didn't.

Also really? The fact that the anecdotal evidence you're claiming they brought is simply that when I've seen countless threads talking about why solo survivor sucks. Ironically I don't think I've wondered why survivors play selfishly for hatch. I mostly play killer, and the thing that perplexes me the most is actually survivors getting themselves killed trying to be altruistic. In nearly every game where 2 survivors are left and 1 gets hooked, the non-hooked survivor makes a beeline for the rescue often resulting in their own demise. In my head it's always been "second to last to get hooked dies", because I'm personally not throwing myself on the line in a situation where one of us is almost guaranteed to die.
