Genuine question about Backwater Swamp:
Does anyone here actually enjoy getting this map?
Because I'm going to say it now: I genuinely love it.
Is the hate for it more of a meme thing - or am I the odd one out in thinking 'Yes, Backwater Swamp!' when it comes up.
For context, I'm more of a Huntress main now and enjoy it because I memorize the layout more than other maps and can get some cool blind shots sometimes through the tall grass (which feel great to get).
So what's your thoughts on this map and why?

I despise the map personally. I always roll my eyes whenever I have to play on it. With its 3 pallets total not including shack.
Also the map looks horrible and completely unappealing to the eyes. I'm not sure if that was the point to make the map look like an eyesore but it worked well.

I do !
I really really like that map. First, because it's the map of my favourite killer, Hag. <3
Its different elevation levels and dense vegetation make it the most unique and authentic map in the game in my opinion, nothing about the loops or the walls there feel artificial like it often does on other maps.
I always love getting it, whether as killer or survivor :D

Visually, it's a really cool map and I can't wait for it to get reworked.
Gameplay wise, it's an absolutely terrible map and I can't wait for it to get reworked.

To me, swamp is undoubtedly the worst realm in the game. I can somewhat deal with every other map but swamp makes me want to stop playing dbd.

I like it. I'm not a fan that sone killers - such as the Artist - genuinely suffer because of the hilly terrain of the map. But it's different and has its own character and challenges. It would be sad if they tried to make the map more in-line with some of the more standard maps. The variety is welcome.

I like the variety it provides, with hatch and gens around the edge of the map.
I don't like the massive deadzones that spawn because there's a total of 4 pallets can (you'll likely end up with 2) excluding Shack which then encourages stealth beyond all belief. I like chasing people and I like having a fun old chase and then losing the killer. I don't like hiding in a corner and having to search every corner.
Plus totem spawns on that map have the potential to be so good but if you bring a Hex it is guaranteed to spawn in the one spot that isn't hidden.

as killer, kinda. i really like the crusty swamp look.
as survivor nah. maps are big but they still feel like they have nothing

It's pretty good for ranged killers, and stalkers like Myers and GF don't do too bad either.
It's because of how they're kinda shaped like a bowl, you get a big deadzone in the middle, surrounded by edges, which themselves are pretty tricky to play well as survivor.
Only the shack, pier and main building offer safety.
As opposed to most maps that have a highly defensible main building the in middle, surrounded by a ring of strong loopable tiles.

I don't really hate or like Swamp. Both variations are bad in their own way but they aren't even near as bad as Garden of Pain, Eyrie of Crows or The Game. Still, I would like to see it get reworked.

I've always liked it as survivor. Love the kinda shipyard aesthetic but I've had some really bad games as killer on it so I'm half and half about it. I know a lot of people dislike it but I think it has a brilliant aesthetic and atmosphere, unlike Coldwind which they ruined.

It's easily the worst looking realm in the entire game, and both maps play like #########

Pale Rose is okay, Grim Pantry can burn in hell.

Well yeah, as a killer player there’s no reason you wouldn’t like swamp really. Both variants are terrible for survivor. Grim Pantry especially.

HATE it!
I mained Doctor for ages and the varied elevation meant your shocks would miss even when the person was right in front of you... So annoying!
And as survivor the hatch and hexes were always impossible to find >.<

Hey all, this is turning out to be a really interesting discussion to read through. 👍
I absolutely feel the sentiment on both Doctor and Artist being so difficult on this map due to the elevation.
Also I would add to the discussion that (for me at least) hook dead-zones do seem quite common and I need to be much more thoughtful of where I hook. Does anyone else have that issue?

Recently started learning Blight. That map feels as bad as Garden and Eyrie on him. Everything is covered in butter and my rushes end after sliding off of 3 different objects without a bump.
