It's A Shame They Abandoned Sadako
Another new Killer, another patch cycle without the mythical Sadako balance pass. I was looking forward to it, but now that we know she's a high MMR monster we can presume she'll be left to rot for a few years like Twins - but hey, at least that's lore-appropriate.
I would've wanted a thorough remake that removed her M1 and hooks entirely, focused her on condemnation, and actually lived up to the 'psychological' killer claims that they made up out of whole cloth about her prior to release. What would you have liked to see for Sadako if they'd ever gotten to her?

Easy rework/patch: make her iridescent video tape basekit, or at least turn on the last 2 TVs. Reduce the cooldown of TVs. Reduce the cooldown at the start of the match from 30 to 15s.
Ambitious rework: assign each gen a TV set and make the gens uninteractable unless the video tape is removed. This will force survivors to interact with tapes, progress the curse on a wider scale, lets survivors traverse the map to get rid of tapes and gives Sadako a headsup which gens are being worked at without direct means of teleporting there. Maybe give the survivors who pop a gen an extra stack of the curse, because of some revenge/grudge thing.
Full/major rework: as you yourself said, it would be very, very interesting if we could get a killer with a totally different means of approach, ie no M1 attacks and only full condemnation kills. Obviously this would be really hard to balance and design as we have nothing even remotely similar to this, but imagine an invisible Sadako flying around the map, who has to manifest herself in order to stalk (curse) you. Maybe she can't move once she manifests? There would have to be a system in place that prevents you from fully cursing/tunneling a survivor out of the game without any countermeasure, but it sounds pretty interesting.

I wouldn't hold your breath, Oryno currently has one of the kill rates at all MMR and high MMR.

Wait they go through objects? When I was playing the PTB they never went through objects unless it was the alert animation (when the banner/standard is being placed).
In all seriousness, I agree that they can make her go through pallets and windows or something, it would make her a lot more intimidating and make pre-dropping strong pallets against her completely useless (like the hallway pallets on old RPD and Lery's).

So weird to see. I didn't think Onryo was S tier or even A tier really. I wonder what nerfs she'll get? Maybe slowing down the manifesting?

Thanks to her hight winrate, I belive they just ignore her for a long while.

Apparently they not only go through objects but can jump to the top of buildings

We havent seen any major changes since Legion / Ghostface im April or May for - specific - killers if Im remember correctly. A minor change to Pigs RBT-RNG and Addon-Change for Nurse. That should be everything, If I remember correctly.
Maybe the next Mid-Chapter has something to offer... we can only wait and hope for Changes for our favourites, I guess. Last time we heard they want to take a look on Twins is from January Q&A (and after that there was no Q&A anymore).

They’re supposed to be able to, but they’re bugged and only go through objects sometimes. Other times they just go around or get stuck and become useless

Since the bots are coming with this chapter as opposed to the mid-chapter, we might finally see some specific killer changes in January?

My guess is it's highly unlikely Onryo will be touched at all.
The devs are likely aware that she performs poorly in some circumstances due to her lack of a general chase power, but her macro game is very strong and the simplicity of her power leaves little area to mess up. Deathslinger is going to be better in chase, but his power is way more punishing if you miss.
Onryo, on the other hand, has a very simple power that's likely very difficult to mess up in most circumstances. Any advantages over a basic M1 killer are more due to her passive properties rather than active ones like the chase killers.
This likely accounts for why we see she does well in the stats but recognize her as a weak chase killer. She is a weak chase killer. She's a very strong macro character that's also simple to use. She also gets stealth on command and gets fewer indications that she's approaching you. Due to her teleporting, you also can't just say, "Oh Wraith was chasing someone from that direction so even if he cloaks he'll probably come from that direction." Sadako can completely reset the survivor's understanding of where she is on command.
My guess is she'll stay where she is because her role in the game is not meant as a complicated oppressive chase killer like Blight. It's probably meant as, "Simple power with decent results."

we have much older killers in desperate need of changes so yeah i kind of get why they might want to wait a bit

Dunno about your idea, but I desperately wish she'd get balance pass.

Her condemned playstyle probably boosts her killrate just as Tombstone Piece boosts Michael's killrate, causing mostly false information on already flawed statistics.

She has one meme that isn't fun to play as or against that boosts her kills heavily.
It ring drawing and iri tape were not on the table she would have abysmal kill rates.

Don’t feel bad about the wait. I’ve been waiting for substantial improvements for Trappi Boi for years and not much other than a few QoL changes were made. They’ll get to Sadako eventually, during the next eclipse when all the planets align.
1 -
That doesn’t mean they won’t eventually do a pass on her, prior to the 2022 roadmap they had semi regular procedure for reviewing new characters after release so it’s quite possible they’ll get back to them in 2023. (Or not if they have big projects, hard to know until they announce their 2023 plans.)

The should do something to curtail the condemned/slug strat, and counter buff other areas of her kit (chase). It's not fun, and it's very hit or miss.
I play a lot of Onryo but do not like slugging, so while I do pretty well, I am not one of those Sadako players rolling in kills.

She isn't abandoned, she's at the back of the line. On average it takes 2 years to get back to a character to do a pass over them and fix them. 2 and a half for Legion. Two for Ghost face. 2 years for Twins. She'll get a pass in 2024. Very few characters get to skip this unless they're super special to the devs. Like Trickster.

you guys have to take into account that Sadako is a licensed character.
they just cant freely just change her kit/addons, they would need approval from the license holder
another reason why we dont have many skins for licensed killer/survivors

This shows how awfull even the high mmr players are at the game.
