Also if the hooked person is about to hit 2nd stage or die.

Even if it ends up being a farm, it's *usually* better to force the Killer to have to waste time downing them than it is to just let the person advance hook stages.

Plus there's always a chance the person actually manages to actually get a decent chase as a result, which is way better than the free hook progress.

But you're right, most of the time people are probably just thinking "Hey, 1k Altruism Points!"

I've been getting the sandbagging flashlight fail survivors a ton lately, it's wicked annoying.

Good killers dont usually go for the player that was hooked. I always at the very least try to trade before the player that's hooked goes to 2nd stage.

Remember when survs needed to learn how to safely unhook unless they had Borrowed Time?

I was gonna say, this is a lot less dangerous now that we have 5s of basekit Borrowed Time. I see 'hook farming' a lot more often, and half the time it doesn't come with any downside.

It's 10 seconds basekit BT. And yes, i miss the old times as survs can just save brain afk now.

And if the killer is close it's even smarter for him to tunnel asap.

Question, on both survivor side and killer side I have not seen an actual sandbagger in quite a while, does it really happen that often to you?

I hate the ones who run the killer to my hanging body the most. Like, turn around and lead them away! But nooo, they want to see the hope leave my beautiful hazel eyes and watch my soul float up into the sky.

Deliberate trolls, no, they're pretty rare. I've seen a few players do this right off the bat, but most of the time, this is the result of someone who gets angry over something in the match and decides to flip the table over it (usually failed ragequitters, but sometimes people that get pissy about a play they didn't like and decide to try and get you killed over it.) Showboating flashlighters who waste time and occasionally get in the way in chase because they're more interested in following you for a save than doing gens - not common, but not very rare either. People who do stupid sandbaggy crap because they have an archive challenge or they're determined to escape? All the time. Fighting people for saves, farming 'protection hits', doing unsafe hit and run unhooks to activate Deliverance or fill a quota, it's everywhere. I run Empathic Connection on my main build and it is incredible how many people will run the killer into my gen when they can see me working on it. Some of them will make a habit of it and do it every time they get in chase, regardless of if they're on first hook and I'm death or idiotically selfish decisions like that.

Oh god, this. Like... please. I was hooked 15 seconds ago. I don't need to be rescued right this instant. Someone else will get me and your 1k hook points aren't worth the loss that's going to come out of both of us getting downed straight afterwards.

If I had a top five pieces of advice to give to new survivors, one would definitely be that instantly going for the save is not the right play 90% of the time. Each hook stage is 60 seconds, and they should be used wisely.

Going for immediate saves (or worse yet, hook bombing) may be the most common and catastrophic throw possible from the surv side.

And then there's crying about "camping", because of course.

is hard to do it otherwise when 9/10 killers camp, on this camp tunnel meta we have today there is no other way to save, unless devs implement hard penalizations or change the game dramatically so killers dont tunel camp all the time (Well they dont have to, they do it at 5 gens anyway, is the mentality aswell) this will continue

Absolutely. Going for an instant save is pretty much only the right choice when it's just you and someone else and you're making a sprint for the gates, or if you're trying to prevent Devour from hitting 5 stacks. I'm sure there's a couple of other weird scenarios, but under normal circumstances - even if you're already right there, it's much smarter to wait for the killer to leave first, and I wish more people understood that. And if the killer is camping, you want to run down the hook timer as much as possible before going in towards the end of that stage. Wish more people understood that too.
