Server connection is becoming more and more inconsistent
So I was mid-game and somehow managed to do a perfect 360 on a killer and ran to shack... got to shack and vaulted a window that I had PLENTY of time to vault and guess what? Got hit anyway... way after I should have been able to.
So I know of course I attributed it to the fun little red poor connection symbol above my character...
I stopped mid-game to hop into a locker because I'm almost certain I'm not having internet problems right now...
All this to say I was running at 800+ Mbps and still somehow have a poor connection? That would mean that I was placed on a server I shouldn't be on or there has been general poor connectivity issues lately.. because this happens frequently. 🤡

Holy guacamole 846! GIB
That aside, I've noticed the same. My internet is not that fast but I recently, meaning a few days ago, I updated my internet to double what it was and yet my ping is higher that I think it should be, and sometimes I get into matches where my ping is over 150.
I can't understand why the game puts me in lobbies of high ping, nor why I cant see my ping before I load into the match.
1 -
I heard something about them trying to cut lobby times by doing this but it does make the game worse to play

I've noticed as well that my games have had poor connection in certain matches despite my internet performing the same. It wasn't like this before.

I 360'd the killer
then I ran to the shack window and got hit
You see, this is what happens. 360 gives you no distance to write home about.
Also RIP thread because you didn't censor the names. GG

Given that it takes 1 second to find a lobby, its completely unnecessary. I'd rather wait a few extra seconds.
Something is not running right and I've seen other people complain about server issues recently

The rule prohibits naming and shaming. Simply naming is fine.

What names? ;)

I made another post a bit back about how I've been seeing tons of people from South America in my games lately as well... or even far off European countries... which I have to assume means they're going through the same thing.

If you could see your ping before the match, you would have players who quit any match over 30 ping, screwing over the Queue system.
1 -
I mean players consistently getting poor connectivity during games makes them stop playing... which screws over the queue system...
1 -
Idk if you played during the times when the game showed connection to Killer, but someone leaving because of ping happened way more than getting an occasional poor connectivity game these days. The system needs to queue eventually, not hang forever?

That is true!
Personally having a yellow bar at the day time. But from a survivor's point of view, I'm having a good connection. -_-
And it's not my internet issue.
1 -
That was made it better before. I could see how my ping would be in the match. If it was yellow or red, I'd skip the lobby and not have to endure a painful match of lag
1 -
^ This exactly. You can say it will help us find a game faster.. but I don't want to play in a game where my looping is diminished due to forces outside of my control. It's not fair to the players.
1 -
Ah yes, better for you, but overall worse for everyone else because of Queue delays. I understand you, I also want only good ping games 24/7 but that's not likely to happen every time now and I'm okay with that. Do you see why the game cannot allow you this privilege now?

So I have like almost 3000 hours in DBD. I played during the times of very slow queue times... I also played in the times of player to killer connection. This inconsistency they are having with ping does not get excused by what used to be... As with any issue, you have to update with the times. I don't operate under "well at least it's better than it was" because it could still be better.

It's not better for ME individually, it's better FOR EVERY PLAYER.
The game has more than enough players to fill in my leave from a lobby. Not only that, but if the game is putting me in a lobby that will guarantee bad ping, then I should have the full right to leave it. Their system shouldn't be putting me in such a lobby regardless.
It is obviously not working well and players shouldn't suffer from that.
Finding a match with good ping is not a privilege, it should be guaranteed and if not, I should have the right to decide if I want to participate in that match.
How it is now, I either need to have a bad time in the match or quit, which won't benefit the other players.
2 -
Also, this is worse for killer players as well? If the killer is having a rough time with the latency connection to the players, they will get bullied. This will be discouraging for new players and even harder up against SWFs. It's not just survivors that suffer from these connectivity issues.

I would rather wait longer for a match in which I will have good ping than one that is quicker but with bad ping
1 -
Me too... Isn't the player base supposedly much larger than it was? Why are we having this issue... Considering the amount of console players I get in my matches, I have to assume it's at least doubled...
1 -
This is off Steam alone... not to mention Windows Store players, Epic players, and console.... I think they should be able to work with better connectivity.
1 -
They've been having this issue consistently recently, so it's a new issue with the servers it seems
1 -
@foodie @Brightened How consistent is this problem?
I was under the impression it was an occasional maybe once a week game where Im sent to oceanic servers?
If its worse this should be a bug report?

It's every other game, and my "good" matches are with 70-80 ping which is not bad, but it comes with a lot of unrealistic hits at windows and pallets. With my internet, I would hope for 30-50. And I have already done port forwarding and DNS flush on my end.
Before I updated my internet, I would get about 50 ping, so I was expecting better connection, not worse. And I confirmed it's a global issue because of literal stuttering during matches not accommodated by FPS drops, as well as watching some streamers experience the same kind of stuttering despite their connection and FPS being ok.
1 -
As said above, it's been every other game.
1 -
That is too strange, idd take that directly to Bug Reports for investigation.

People listing their ping in the game, how do you know what your ping is? I know you can send a ping request to many servers, but do we have the server names to do that with DBD?

I think the weight of all the extra stuff they’ve added to the game over the years is crushing the core. It takes forever now to just load into a killer/survivor lobby for me when selected from the title screen, and I rarely get to see the end game results because I am booted back to the title screen whenever a match ends.

I've been having the same issue when I play survivor solo. I have crazy high ping while rest of the players in my lobby have normal ping. I'll test my internet after the match and see it is fine. The only explanation is I'm getting thrown into a server I shouldn't be in. I'd rather take longer to find a match (or be told there's no match available) than waste my time getting thrown into a server where I'm lagging and my ping is way off from everyone else.
