Killer Creation: Trickster
The Trickster
(As always, ability and perk numbers are presented in tier 1/2/3 order.)
Backstory:
Pyli was not your average girl. Pyli was a Inari whose task was to hear prayers at a shrine a few miles out from a small village. Depending on the prayer and the desire behind it, Pyli would either try to bless the individual or use her powers to prank and trick them because of their selfish desires. She tended the shrine for centuries, watching the villagers come and go, from youth to decrepency, be born and die.
Time seemed to go by quickly enough, with the Inari not really noticing much more of the villagers beyond their prayers and their intentions. One day, a new person arrived at her shrine. She did not know this person. He had not grown up in the village. But he was a young man, handsome, and his prayer was genuine and admirable. He asked for three things; a simple life, peace in the village, and a love that would endure beyond the light of the world.
The man’s sincerity touched the Inari’s heart and for the first time since she had tended the shrine, she revealed herself to this mortal. She appeared in the image of a young woman she had blessed a few centuries before. She and the man fell instantly love, and she allowed him to believe that she was a gift from the heavens in answer to his prayers.
The man built a small house near the shrine after Pyli expressed her desire to tend to it. They lived happily for years until one day Pyli returned home to find a group of men destroying her home. And just inside the door she saw her beloved husband lying in a pool of his own blood.
Thr Inari screamed with fear and rage, and her illusion faded to reveal her true kitsune form. The men turned to find the Inari baring down on them. Suddenly there dozens of kitsune. Their friends all seemed to disappear, replaced by similar creatures such as the one that was attacking them. Each man began to attack the new Inari in a violent melee.
As the bandits battled eachother, fooled by the illusions Pyli had created, Pyli knelt beside her husband. With tears in her eyes she cradled her husband’s head in her arms and begged to the spirits for their aid. In her dismay, a single powerful whisper answered her cries. It asked how many lives were worth the life of her husband.
Hundreds. Thousands. As many as possible. All of these were Pyli’s answer. The whisper asked how many lives she was willing to give. As many as the voice wanted. She would bring as many souls as it needed so long as her husband would live. The whisper demanded she begin with the bandits who had killed her husband.
Pyli set to work quickly. She stood and summoned blue flames, sending them out to set alight each of the bandits. As the men burned, their souls were pulled from their body and into a dark portal that appeared above them. When the bandits were all dead, Pyli moved back to her husband who began to stir. Before he could open his eyes, another swirling portal opened behind Pyli and began to draw her inside.
The Inari screamed and desperately tried to escape the portal’s pull but it was no use. She had made a bargain. All the souls the Entity wanted for the life of her husband. Now Pyli would have to keep the two promises; providing all the souls the Entity wants, and to love her husband beyond the light of the living world.

A swing of a porcelain mask that resembles a human face..
Lunge:
The Trickster’s lunge is replaced with a quick lunging touch. If the Trickster touches the target of her lunge, the target is covered with an illusion that makes them look like the Trickster to other survivors. The survivor will have a terror radius of 5 meters and also a red light just like a killer’s. If the tagged survivor keeps the illusion for 30 seconds, they take damage as if they were struck normally and lose the illusion.
A survivor can pass the illusion to another survivor by tagging them with the activate command when they get within striking distance of another survivor. A new 30 second timer starts if the illusion is passed on. The survivor who has the illusion passed to them has their aura highlighted for 3 seconds.
The Trickster changes to look like the survivor that currently holds the illusion, and loses the red light until it is within 10 meters of another survivor. Whenever the illusion is lost, the Trickster returns to its normal form.
The Trickster cannot use its lunge if it still has an illusion active.
Moris:
The Trickster summons several blue spirit flames and lets them fall slowly onto the survivor, with them slowly increasing in speed until the survivor is completely engulfed in blue flame.
Powers
Spirit Fire:
The Trickster starts the game with two small blue flames hovering over her. She may place a flame on a generator. Progress on a generator with a Spirit Flame on it is increased by 10% per survivor working on it, but skill checks are 5% more likely to occur per survivor working on it.
Whenever a generator with a Spirit Flame is completed the flame waits for 3 seconds, then begins to chase the survivor who helped progress the generator the most for 20 seconds. The flames moved at the same speed at The Trickster and is not hindered by vaults.
If the flame hits the survivor, they take damage as if they were struck by the killer and their location is revealed for 5 seconds.
If the flame hits a pallet, the pallet is burned away and the flame is destroyed.
If the flame does not hit a pallet or the survivor within 20 seconds, it fades away.
Whenever a flame hits a survivor or pallet, or fades away after 20’seconds, a new one appears over the Trickster.
Perks
Desperate Bargain:
The Entity has agreed to grant you boon in exchange for the souls it needs to sustain itself, and you have agreed to deliver them.
For every survivor you sacrifice you gain a token. Use may use a token on a generator, hatch, or escape panel. The progress bar for a generator or escape panel (or time it takes to open in the case of the hatch) is increased by 5/10/15% for every token used on it.
Beyond the World of Light:
The Entity’s realm is where you have come to serve, but memories of the past help to drive you on to your goals and help you lose your fear of the light.
For every generator that is completed, you can additional 1/2/3% increase in speed and reduce the time you are blinded by lights by .5 seconds.
Seeing is Believing:
Deception is second nature to you, and playing on the greedy desires of others helps you see their true selves.
Four tool boxes are added to the map. Survivors who open these boxes have their auras revealed for 2/5/8 seconds, items picked up from these boxes can be held but cannot be used and disappear after 10 seconds.

And there you have it. I hope you all enjoyed my attempt at making a character based around illusion and trickery. I look forward to balancing it with your feedback.
i also wanted to try and mame a killer that wasn’t human at all, but still was able to fit inside the lore of DBD with its spirit world and acknowledging that the supernatural exists. So I hope this worked well.

The killer's power is really damn cool, could even make it so survs wouldn't see the flames.
Also, I really like the perks.0 -

I figured addons could make the flames less visible or add additional uses of them. But I don’t go over addons when I make a killer (mostly because I’m limited to using my phone and it’s a massive pain to do it all on the phone. XD)0 -
Nice concept, and interesting in a way i cannot predict how strong they would be without a ptb, haha.
Not a fan of the delayed damage on the normal lunge attack. That couldve been used like a pig ambush or freddy tag instead. Afterall we have more than one button for killer abilities.
The foxfire seems interesting but only good against people who're not doing skillchecks in their sleep. I think harder skillchecks or modified skillchecks (like ruin) might be a better choice than simply more skillchecks.
Placing the foxfires as wards somewhere or sending them after survivors like homing projectiles could be useable alternatives.
Ive skimmed over the backstory which i normally ignore completely and yeah, seems useable (I'm not to critisize others stories when i never did one myself).
But I honestly doubt a cute foxgirl waifu OR an anthropomorphic fox would fit into dbd's aesthetics without turning her into a monstrosity first ( sorry but only got your image to work with here)

It also makes SWF a bit more complex because younhave to ask who can take the hit or can you coordinate enough take keep the hit from going off but also keeping you from completely focusing on objectives.
I’m of a fan of delay mechanics as well. This was a fun way to implement one that meshed wel with the character’s concept.Raptorrotas said:

I also considered using them as wards but I figured people would simply avoid the bright blue flame sitting somewhere. So I decided to place them on generators and give the effect of both a blessing and a trick to go with the killer’s concept.
I thought about making. The fire a projectile and giving it the same effects on an individual basis, but then have it spread to a new survivor of survivors got too close. But there was no way to guarantee it would happen.
In the end, I settled on the generator idea because it would serve as a way to help watch objectives at different skill levels. Low skilled survivors would likely avoid the generators with the flame, allowing you to patrol the ones you haven’t marked. High skilled survivors might likely risk the benefits over the skill challenges, thus allowing you to focus on the generators you marked. This seemed like the more tactical and fun variation in my opinion.Raptorrotas said:Ive skimmed over the backstory which i normally ignore completely and yeah, seems useable (I'm not to critisize others stories when i never did one myself).

It was mostly a lack of scary looking kitsune art to be honest. So I went with what looked easiest to use just as an example. But I thought I would show you what the original image I had picked out for the killer was:
I went with the one in the OP because it looked a bit more evil. But those were my best options when looking around for a good image.
Thank you very much for you feedback! If the explanations for my choices helped and let you think of ways I could balance the character better, I would love to hear more from you!Post edited by Tarvesh on0 -

I can understand that the normal lunge attack can seem dull, but its in the basekit. Yet there can be a first for everything.
But I still think your Killer doesnt really have a M2 Ability.
The foxfires feel like a bonus to simply kicking generators, so i thought its applied not with the ability button but by "kicking" a generator when you have atleast 1 fire with you. But i found out why I think of your foxfires as a bit on the weaker side, they only activate when the generator is DONE and only for 1 person.
This means this can only trigger 5 times in a round, which should make you consider somehow triggering it more often, like every X skillchecks on a generator.Btw like that second picture more because its more stylized imo. but yeah i guess this COULD actually work in DBD. Btw now i finally understand what you meant with "Mask on a stick"-weapon lol
