The Queen

(As always, perk and ability numbers are presented in tier 1/2/3 order.)

Backstory
Ge’Nea was a voodoo mambo in a small neighborhood just outside the French Quarter of New Orleans. She was idealistic but still very spiritual and devoted to the loa that she served. She regularly performed rituals and rites to beseech the spirits to aid the people of her community whenever they would bring their devotions and requests.

All was not well, though, for Ge’Nea was serving her people in the late 1950’s and racial tensions were at an all time high. The Civil Rights movement had made it dangerous to speak up or stand out. Over the years, Ge’Nea had performed several devotional funerals for young folk in her community who had been killed during marches and protests. These deaths weighed hard on the mambo and she prayed to the Loa for patience and understanding in these trying times.

In the summer of 1960, however, a rash of murders began to crop up. Young girls from her neighborhood would disappear for weeks only to reappear dead in an alley with their dolls clutched tightly in their hands and deep wounds and dark bruises covering their bodies.

Her prayers for forgiveness went unanswered. But as she continued to call on the Loa, a single, powerful voice began to whisper back to her in her dreams. It demanded vengeance. It commanded her to take retribution for the innocent souls lost to such cruelty. She perceived the voice to be that of Bondye himself, aching for justice through her.

Ge’Nea did not want to kill. She did not want to believe that Bondye would command such a thing. But each night she slept after one of the girl’s funerals, the cry for justice and retribution became ever stronger. The mambo resisted until the horror was outside her very door.

A day cane that Ge’Nea heard an angry group of men running down her road and the screams of a girl mixed within their shouts. Ge’Nea went outside to find several men surrounding a lamp post where a young girl was hanging from a noose. The men were taking turns hitting and cutting her as she struggled for breath. Ge’Nea lost control.

The mambo marched over to the men and began using the tools of her trade tondispatch the men. Her ritual dagger opened the throats of three men. She spat blinding powder into the eyes of others. Even quickly made voodoo dolls snapped the legs and arms of the rothers so she could quickly use her dagger to finish them off.

Her rage spent, she turned to find that she simply hadn’t been fast enough. The girl had died on the rope. Ge’Nea cried out in despair and begged Bondye for forgiveness. If she had only needed his commands when she first received them then this girl would still be alive. And Bondye answered.

Bondye demanded that Ge’Nea offer up her own life as penance. She would have to freely give herself to him and become pay penance in the afterlife hunting the souls of those he deemed unworthy. Ge’Nea agreed to the terms and took her ritual dagger and opened her own throat. As her blood rushed free and her body went limp, Bondye revealed itself to her. But it was not Bondye, and the bond she had made with it could not be broken.

Terror Radius:
20m

Speed:
115%

Attack:
The Queen attacks with a quick slice of a ritual dagger.

Lunge:
The Queen raising her hand to reveal a small
pile of powder. She blows the powder in a 5m cone in front of her. Survivors hit by the powder take no damage but suffer from the Blindness and Exhaustion effects for 30 seconds.
The Queen cannot use her lunge for 10 seconds after a single use.

Mori:
The Queen holds a voodoo doll up and bends its arms and legs. The survivor’s arms and legs snap and twist in mangled unison with the arms and legs of the doll. Then the Queen stabs the doll with her ritual dagger and a geyser of blood erupts from the survivor’s chest.

Powers
Loa’s Favor:
The Entity’s realm sits side by side with the realm of the spirits where the Loa reside, and they lend their aid.
Whenever a survivor comes within 10m of a totem, their aura is revealed in yellow for 3 seconds. If a survivor begins to cleanse a totem, their aura is revealed in red for 5 seconds.
Totems you control take 6 seconds longer to cleanse.

Patchwork Dolls:
The Queen is adept at creating tools to bring down her victims in the spur of the moment, though each piece takes more of her victims for more powerful effects.
Whenever the Queen injures or hooks a survivor, you may swap to this power within 5 seconds using the skill check button.
The Queen cannot attack while using this power.
Whenever the Queen injures a survivor, she gains a token.
On the first injury of a survivor, the first use of this power will create a doll that resembles that survivor.
On the second injury of a survivor, the Queen adds a line of the survivor’s blood to their doll.
Once the Queen has a single (or multiple) dolls made (total of four, one per survivor), she can swap to this power at any time and swap through dolls to use the one she chooses.
The Queen can use the attack button to use up a token. When she does this, she can injure a survivor and cause them to scream and reveal their location.
If a survivor is already injured and this power is used on their doll, they are not brought into the dying state. Instead, they scream to reveal their location and receive the Hindered status effect.

Perks
Hex - On Death’s Wings:
The eyes of the Entity and the Loa are everywhere. Passing by them announces the coming of doom.
Whenever a Survivor alerts a crow, the Entity progress while they are on the hook is increased by .2/.5/1%, to a maximum of 2/5/10%.

Hex - Light of the Loa
The Loa bring the light of the spirit realm even to thing with no life. And that light persists longer.
All totems are lit as if they were Hex totems.
Whenever a survivor’s aura is revealed, it is revealed for an additional 1/2/3 seconds.

Righteous Fury
The wrongs that you have witnessed have manifested themselves in the target of your fury.
Whenever a generator is completed within 3/5/8 seconds of two or more survivors working on it, you gain a 5/10/15% increase in speed for 4/6/8 seconds.

I’m glad you’re enjoying them. I have about seven or so more that I have in the works so far. Hopefully you’ll enjoy them as well!

Whole idea is good. I really like Light of the Loa. It should count dull totems as hex totems though, otherwise, thrill of the hunt would reveal which ones are and aren't real when the lit dull totems don't have the debuff.

All of this is VERY good, but I think you're trying to squeeze too many powers into a single entity

    KIller's power

The way you describe Lunge is a power of its' own.

    Loa’s Favor
This sound more like a perk than a part of power.

    Patchwork Dolls
This is very creative, I love it. The only caveat is that it does not help you until you've injured or hook somebody. Also I'm not a fan of this power being limitless (allowing you to stab and injure a Survivor remotely from anywhere on the map)

    Perks

    Hex - On Death’s Wings
Unusual and interesting. Will probably be overlooked just like the Monstrous Shrine is at the moment.

Hex - Light of the Loa
    Super interesting! Love it.

    Righteous Fury
    Strange, but good.

I'm impressed - all of the ideas are really good. Great work! Thank you for sharing this.

FIRST!!! Thank you very much for the feedback! I’m very glad you enjoyed the concept and design. I would like to address your feedback in a manner that is both respectful and helps to explain my thought process. I think if I do that you might be able to help me further tweak and balance the killer.

The way you describe Lunge is a power of it’s own.

This is a common theme with my characters. I feel after so many killers with an attack/lunge attack, the design is stale. I feel that using the lunge as a way to give a killer a a different method to harming or hindering survivors provides more gameplay options and thus more varying ways to approach a survivor than simply “how should I hit it?”.

    Loa’s Favor

This sound more like a perk than a part of power.

I agree. But I left it as a passive power for a few reasons:
    1. It helps to give the killer map awareness since she has no “damaging lunge” which could help her end chases faster. So to compensate, she gets more awareness.
    2. Making it a perk would, at least in my opinion, make it to powerful with other killers with more mobility and better damage capabilities (especially when they combo it with other perks).

    Patchwork Dolls

This is very creative, I love it. The only caveat is that it does not help you until you've injured or hook somebody. Also I'm not a fan of this power being limitless (allowing you to stab and injure a Survivor remotely from anywhere on the map)

I admit that this was a tricky one for me to balance. I had to keep in mind that I was balancing the power around a character who doesn’t have a gap closing attack. I think that her having to get in melee range, and still having to injure or hook a survivor to gain a token for the power is balanced around the “I can hurt you from anywhere” mechanic.
I toyed with the idea of having the killer’s ability bar light up when one of the survivor’s she has a doll for was in her terror radius and then she could activate that “I hurt you” mechanic so long as that survivor was still in her terror radius, but then that added another caveat to be able to use the power.
I would very much like to know what you think a good fix would be!

    Hex - On Death’s Wings

Unusual and interesting. Will probably be overlooked just like the Monstrous Shrine is at the moment.

I thought so as well. The crows seem to be the Entity’s eyes and ears in the trials and it made me think that the Entity might get more and more anxious for a souls whenever the crows were alerted to a survivor. And since it’s a subtle way of stealing time that the survivors think they might have to get someone off a hook.

Hex - Light of the Loa

    Super interesting! Love it.

This was one I thought would be one of the best kind games. Survivors tend to ignore dull totems in search for that brightly lit totem. So I asked myself “what if they were all lit?”. I think the answer becomes “chaos and desperation”, which I don’t think survivors at high level play really experience much.

    Righteous Fury

    Strange, but good.

Gen rushing can be pretty brutal. So multiple survivors on a generator sort of clicked with the killer’s backstory of a mob of people attacking one person. I thought that making survivors think twice about the punishment they might take for working together on a generator might also help to instill more tactical gameplay into a match as well as make them more paranoid about working with eachother.

Again, thanks VERY MUCH for your feedback! I’d like to know what you think after reading my thought processes. Thanks again and i’m Super happy you liked the killer!

Sorry for the delay about responding. Thanks very much for the feedback.

Wouldn’t this be good for the Killer to at least know which one is the real one while the survivors have to guess? Or does that make it too imbalanced?

I say let the killer know, but I think the killer should get to know which hex totems have which perks anyway.
