We really gotta let BHVR know that we don't want old seasonal cosmetics to be limited
For those out of a loop, in a recent news post it was confirmed that ALL Winter/Christmas cosmetics will be limted after the first week of January, which includes old cosmetics that previously were available all year around. I wasn't a fan of limited cosmetics to begin with, but them just making old ones that you could once buy at any time limited is just super scummy.
Simply put we really gotta let BHVR know that this is something we don't like nor want, and not simply just drop the issue after a week or allow BHVR to ignore us. Otherwise they'll keep taking advantage of us in future events, to where even blighted skins and any old season skin is time limited.

Absolutely agreed.

I think they know, if the explosion on these forums is anything to go off of.
5 -
By all means let them know, but do we need to have 100 topics a day about this?
Jesus Christ, they're just cosmetics, all this fuss about them just proves how much of a commodity they are, and how lucrative it is to charge money for them.
If this forum is anything to go buy, BHVR aren't in the business of developing games, they just produce fancy 3D artwork that the masses go crazy over and will pay a high price for.
The more you complain about them costing money, the more you convince BHVR that they should be charging money for them!
Just don't buy them. I'm not.

It's reasonable. Look, BHVR has tons of bugs in this game, many things are unbalanced (just weak or useless or incredibly strong), on the other side they want from us to accept something like that? Like really? There is no logical reason for that. Yea, except... uhm... money.
Just a small reminder, you maybe forgot. This game isn't for free. You have to buy it. Also some of the content isn't free either, actually game is in condition where you will either spend money to get perks, killers and survivors or spend hundreds and hundreds of hours getting it with shards. And yes, hundreds, because for getting 9k shards for 1 character you need to play for aprox. 24 hours of clean time. 9k shards = 1 entire day. In shop you can btw find skins with price 14k or 21k :) But playing just with shards would take incredibly long, because you can't buy everything with them and for perks you would have to wait for Shrine.
I get it, devs want money for their game, alright, that's ok. It's their job, I get it. But now you have game full of bugs, unbalanced play systems, glitches, toxic players in chat, cheaters, errors and so on. Do you know for example that you don't have chase status with Knight, when he places his Guard? Noice. Community is annoyed already. And the reaction to that isn't something like "Dear players, we are very sorry for issues in our game. We are trying our best to fix all major bugs. Please, be patient and help us reporting all bugs you encounter on our forum. Thank you and see you in fog." or something else to just calm down us but the reaction is "We will make old cosmetics limited. It makes no sense but whatever. You will play our game anyway."...

The cosmetics costing money isn't the problem. The problem is that they're being removed from the store.

The problem was never about cosmetics costing real money?...

Words don't matter. Vote with your wallet.

Oh because we totally don't get 100 topics a day about camping/tunneling/slugging/quad stacking toolboxes/quad stacking regression/swf and haven't done for the past 4 years since these Forums were revamped back in June 2018?

You know what I mean. No need to nitpick.
Cosmetics are a high value item. Thus they have all the cause to market them and make them as exclusive as they like, and play on their consuner base.
Every other business works the same way.

Being normalised isn't equivalent to being justifiable.

From a business standpoint it is.
Vote with your wallet.

The current society show that voting with my wallet isn't enough, so I'm voting by complaining about it here.
Is there a problem with that?

Can I get a link to this news report? All I have found is that the new Deck the Trials ones will be removed until next year, nothing about the past Christmas ones being removed. I even saw a post from Mandy that clarified that only the Deck the Trials ones are being removed.

Any way to get to the higher ups? Because I feel like that's the only way to get results. Yelling at the devs won't accomplish much since it most likely wasn't their decision.

We're able to complain about both awful anti-consumer business practices and the terrible state of the game at the same time! Magic!

Like I said, it has the opposite effect. All you're doing is proving how much demand there is for these cosmetics.
Voting with your wallet is enough, it's representative of your voice. You get one vote, just like everyone else.
Just because everyone else is voting against you and funding these marketing tactics, doesn't mean your vote isn't worth just as much as theirs. It means you're the minority.

Here, launched my game just for you:

Yes that's exactly my point. It's called being facetious.

Ah, thanks yea I just found it in another thread, okay see now THAT I am not okay with. Changing the rules for past outfits (even if I already do have the ones I care most about) I don't like.
2 -
The minority? Have you seen the state of the recent discussion homepage? Almost half of it is threads about this situation. Does it look like a minority to you?

To add even more, Dwight & Jane's Halloween outfits weren't the only ones to disappear after the event ended.

The problem isn't that they cost money, the problem is that they're time limited and they're removing old cosmetics to make them time limited going forward. It'd be better if they returned to having some cosmetics for auric cells and others shards that are always available instead of this time limited anti-consumer FOMO.
The only reason money has been brought up is because BHVR made an announcement only a few months ago that all original non-licensed cosmetics would be available for shards after 4 weeks. They've now have already gone back on that by saying these cosmetics that will be in the store for over 4 weeks won't count because they're "time limited" and to make it worse also are removing cosmetics that have been available year round (and for shards) to now make them time limited anti-consumer FOMO outfits as well.
5 -
Besides the two event ones from last year, were any others removed?
But yea, I've been defending this the past few days, but now that I see they are adding even the old seasonal outfits (and some that I don't think should even count as that, like Winter Tales and Cozy Break) I'm no longer defending this.

I really don't see the big issue, so I wont be able to buy Xmas Cosmetics in June? Well you cant? Then wait a year.
Seasonality is fine by me.
2 -
And will return during the appropriate seasons.
How many holiday and winter themed cosmetics have you bought out of season? How many times did you wear those same cosmetics out of season? My guess is probably nowhere near any level that warrants this nonsense.
THEY WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR. IF FOR SOME REASON YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT WAIT AN ENTIRE YEAR BECAUSE YOU MAY WANT TO WEAR THEM ONCE IN JUNE, BUY THEM NOW. This is a YOU problem.
And I have to ask... exactly how many of the older cosmetics do you own? Of the ones you own, how often do you equip them? Be absolutely honest.
It's seasonal skins. Of all the things to get this vocal about, it's absolutely ridiculous to be this loud because people won't be able to buy Dwelf when it's Labor Day. It is not and will not ever be that serious because they're seasonal and the vast majority of times I've seen these cosmetics since I started playing back in December 2019... is in December. Even when I could have bought them during the year, I waited until December to get them. Do you know why? Because that's when I knew they'd be on sale for cheaper than their year round price. Exercise some impulse control and find a more important issue to put this kind of energy into.

Exactly. All the complaining on the forums is going to nothing. I’ve spent enough time on this forum to know that it’s very clear that the BHVR do not make decisions based on forum discussions. The only time I’ve really seen them put any urgency into making changes that people have been asking for is when player counts start to drop. Remember when survivor queues were ridiculously long during peak times because there were so few players who wanted to to subject themselves to the misery of repeated matches with survivors always bringing the same meta second chance perk loadouts? BHVR were finally forced to take action for fear of the player base collapsing.
Like others have said, vote with your wallets or play something else if you really want to see change.

We want our cosmetics back!

Then why are people buying them?
1 -
They have the privilege to not care about those tactics?
They do not even know there are time limits now?
Who knows?

As I sated in another topic. I bought last seasons stuff in november during the lead up to december simply because in december as an adult with children my money is tied up, between buying them gifts, getting new decorations, preparing to buy the stuff for tons of baking and christmas dinner because my family has the dinner at my place which means I pay for 14-16 people to eat means I don't have money to buy these skins during the christmas season. I know this is just my situtation, but if you think I'm the only one you have a cushioned life.
Especially when the prices of food, gas, hydro, rents/mortages are all skyrocketing its tough out there for an adult with a family to provide for. Some of us are still recovering from going into debt during the covid pandemic when some of us unfortunately lost our jobs, some of us lost our own businesses.
Reality is unfortunately times are hard right now, and making things time limited isn't very good. Sure BHVR gets a big chunk of money all at once, but they would've got that anyway for the most part. Funnily enough this decision will actually cost bhvr some money because people like me who do buy things out of season because they can't during the season won't be able to buy these things at all.
2 -
No no, voting with my wallet is NOT enough, because me not buying a skin could be attributed to anything
The fact that I'm complaining here on the forums expressing precisely WHY I'm not buying a cosmetics enforces my vote.
2 -
"Voting with your wallet" won't work if this move is to target whales within the DBD community.
1 -
Oh they know, they just don't care.
Negative reviews might help.
