Bye Bye Dead by Daylight
Im versing Killers from Russia while i live in Germany a lot. How is this even possible. On top of this, Were not able to see Ping Indicators in Lobbys anymore. Thx for that change, who asked for this ? Now Im having to deal with incosistency every game. Im done with it. The gap on every hit either through windows or while using dead hard or on pallets are so big due to ping difference or whatever it makes this game a mess. I just dropped a pallet before the blight even started rushing towards me yet he hits me and it doesnt even drop the pallet, thats how bad it is. Basically unplayable. And i do see this Game dying in the future because of this. Dbd is a highly competitive game because it literally doesnt offer anything besides just that 1 game mode and if you cant compete in a fair realm than this game is just living behind a faccade.
Were seeing Survivors vaulting Windows where it looks like the Killer should get the Hit but he doesnt and we see Survivors vaulting windows and getting hit from 2m away. Those gaps are what im talking about and it changes almost every game. How can yall enjoy this ? And its not even something new im talking about because those issues have been around for years. And speedy blights or short reaction times like from dead hard dont go well with this. Btw for people that say dead hard always works, just go in a lobby with wesker and try to use dead hard right when he is charging at you. What will happen is that you will be in a weird state lying midair because the game skips the first hit validation but realizes the second one ( which should never be used if the game works correctly ). Its a good bug to prove that hit validation is terrible. And im guessing the way theyll fix it if it didnt happen already, is that they remove the Endurance on the 2nd Hit ( when the Survivor gets hit on a wall ) instead of improving the Networking.
And Yes Hit Validations can hurt both sides not just Survivors however i would say 95% of the time the Survivor is the one getting rolled from it.

I live in Russia and playing DBD without any bad connections. Welp, sorry if you've expirienced something like that, be sure to come in and check the news.=3

I don’t talk about it because I’ve never had much issue tbh
We should be able to see killer ping in the lobby though. No excuse not to have that

I will never understand why people say this all the time. Some people legit quit and don't come back and that just hurts everyone overall as the player base slowly dwindles. Its not even like tc doesn't have valid criticism. Everyone who plays the game should be demanding that we get to see ping in the lobby. It shouldn't even need to be asked for since we already had it and it was taken away from us without a single valid reason as to why.
I my self am tired of getting killers with massive ping issues and getting hit half way across the map. I am also tired of survivors teleporting away with their red ping shield.

If you're going to leave the game just because you unable to see "other side" ping... I've no other words to say: "Okay see you next update"

What a strange tradition to announce to the forums that you are quitting the game.
1 -
I live in germany too and can confirm all what you said.

Ok? You leave, 2 more players join the player base. The game is not anywhere close to dying. There have been many doomsday posts years before you.
1 -
Then you should leave a post to tell everyone.

*Whispers* See you later

if everyone just quit without explaining why and it was a common grievance such as not seeing ping in lobby, well how does that issue get addressed? what is with people not having any critical thinking skills anymore.
7 -
Ping is certainly an issue. Personally, I don’t understand why bad ping is ‘rewarded’ while good ping suffers.

Dead bye...
... It's nothing.

I think its because "I QUIT!!" threads sometimes are people seeking attention and many users get tired of seeing them, when I played WoW in vanilla seeing people on the forums making those kind of threads only to see them on the server the next week was a bit tiring, eventually the comunity started to taunt them with responses like "see you next patch/reset" or stuff like that.
Not saying this is the case, OP cites real problems and as you say people quiting over valid concerns should be listened to see if they can be fixed, the "Ok, cya, close the door after you exit" mentality isnt good either, you may end up killing the playerbase by ignoring.

i agree, i'm in SW of EU and i'm matched with Easterns country like Russia and others (Ukraine,Kazahkstan,Turkey and even sometime China players or Japanese ) i dont have any VPN. i understand its very frustating when you see Hitboxes behind pallets after you landed feets. ping is around 300ms when i'm against these players , its a loss of quality gameplay. i have 20% of my games recorded that are against theses country.

It works when both players have good ping, it just sucks when someone doesn't.
1 -
im curious. what makes you think that good ping suffers ? it wouldnt make much sense coding wise but it does feel like it.
I personally think the problems happen because the game is netcoded based on killers interactions and then uses survivors interactions as a reaction to that. I guess we would need a dev to confirm this.

There's basically two ways to handle network latency. The first way, you go by "who gets to the server first wins"--first one to say something has happened gets it to happen. In slower games, or with really good network infrastructure everywhere you're playing, this works pretty well; it's immediate as far as anyone is concerned and it's great. It is exploitable (if someone's client can report hits or whatever, and the server can't properly check, then suddenly...)
The second is basically "what time did you send your message?" This is what leads to favouring bad ping--everyone reacts to what's on their game at the time, and the server basically goes "oh, this person did it first on their side, they win".
Although then you can have middle grounds etc.
And neither is perfect--another downside of the first one is that if there's any sort of latency at all, time-critical reactions basically get disabled.

Russia is connected to the same servers though, why would you be surprised. It's not like Amazon has servers in Russia.

what you are explaining is very generalized though. i think dbd is coded in a way where it just looks on the killers client to directly check if they hit a survivor or not. So its purely about whether the killer has a good ping or not and the survivors ping doesnt really matter for hit validations specifically. On dead hard it might. And the reason i think that is because i faced cheating bubbas that insta down you when they are not even visible on your screen.

That's because generally only one side is trying to do the hitting at a time. If only one person swings, then the other client doesn't have anything to say--it just waits to be told it's hit.
Though DbD is pretty lenient with letting both events go through when it does find something both sides have input in. Pallets are like that.

So you saying they'll play for the next chapter?
1 -
Probably after they calm down from their rant.
2 -
True, there are some ridiculous threads of people claiming to quit but not being to see the ping is a legit problem that truly does effect game quality on top of all the other problems. This is kind of different though. We shouldn't be forced to play games where the killer is in red or the survivors are in red. Unfortunately for some reason or another they removed lobby ping and well now we have people fed up of playing laggy games they used to be able to avoid.

Do you know him,why is he announcing his departure?

The issue gets addressed by time limited cosmetics.

Two more players join while the game is free. Then they leave. Maybe you need to check your charts again. This game is losing players and it is obvious why.
0 -
For every loud leaving player like this there are probably a hundred people who silently leave.
DbD will hit a 3 year low on Steam Charts early next year. It's inevitable. DbD has been made more boring and less varied in 2022 while the player base continues to wait for improvements to the netcode, anti-hack and other QoL changes like a perk search bar or faster bloodwebs. After 6 years of waiting, it's getting easier and easier to believe these necessary changes may never come and now we are seeing devoted players finding the will to kick their DbD addiction.

Frankfurt seems to be the closest server to russia, which really isn't optimal. Anyway, cya in a few weeks / months.

yes we cant even see our own anymore i had a game yesterday where all survivors had 200ms and the killer its unplayable and not fun for anyone
0 -
tbh i dont think so dbd isnt as fun as it was back in 2017 18 19 20 even 21... they removed stretched, updated movement reworked perks, rebalanced the whole game... Yes killer is more balanced now which is good. But the game feels janky people camp 90% of the matches the mmr sucks, the devs to a little what they want and remove stuff that doesnt have to be removed (like winter cosmetics, jeryl :D, being able to see your ping in lobby etc.) I mean there is no reason at all to remove the seeing ping in the lobby it does NOTHING good for anyone. Yet even with all the balance changes the game is still survivor sided. (i mean the only reason i lose matches as survivor is because i play soloQ and play with legacy 3 claudettes running selfcare, bond, urban & iron will. I played like 10 matches soloQ yesterday had 2 escapes. But when i played with my friends (4 man) we got a 4 man escape EVERY SINGLE GAME besides 1 which were a 3 man... (and we played like 15 16 games)
