Build suggestions for the Onryō?

Greetings survivors, killers, and both-siders of the Fog! I hope this thread finds you doing well.

So... here I am. Back to the Fog once more, it seems. I've always deemed extremely unlikely for me to play this game once more, but it seems I've find something that makes this game, once loved now hated, fun to play.

Or rather, someone:

image.png

Her.

She is amazing. I love her <3

Though I don't seem to know exactly what to use for my builds. It comes as no surprise that I no longer know what is meta and what isn't, what should be used and what shouldn't.

Because of this, I am asking for your help.

If you can, please tell me a build you find it interesting to run on Sadako. I would prefer older perks, if possible, but feel free to mention newer perks if ya think they would work well.

Any help is appreciated :)

    Hi,

Sadako is a killer that has a hard time getting downs vs good survivors and her addons are not particularly good, so it's good to focus your builds on slowdowns that not require hooks and chasing perks. However, not every single survivor is a god tier, so if you feel confident you can down people on a determined lobby you can get a bit creative.

    Good perks on Sadako:

Sloppy Butcher -- this perk sinergizes a lot with her because the first hit usually is very easy and the hemorage can help you deal with medkits that are her worst enemy

Franklings Demise -- In the same way it helps to deal with medkits

A Nurses Calling -- Its a rare perk to see nowdays so you can get some easy downs because sometimes survivors don't expect you to see them.

Bambozle/Superior anatomy/Spirit Fury/Enduring -- Solid perks for M1 killers, I personally like the ultra fast vault build, I find it to be a bit more realiable.

Make Your Choice -- This perk is very bad on most killers but sadako is one of the few that is really good to take advantage of it, specially on the first hook when the survivors have no idea you have this.

Call Of Brine -- a must nowdays.

Eruption -- Its a staple for killers nowdays but it's a bit unrealiable on sadako because you can't know for sure you can down someone in a reasonable time, so use it if you think the survivors are not very good in chase

    Famous Builds

Condemn build: Ring Drawing, Iridescent tape, Gideon Meat Plant offering. Call of Brine, Sloppy, franklings/shattered hope, A nurses calling. Its her most famous build and one of her strongest, I personally like The Game for this because of the square shape, which helps to get mutiple condemn in one teleport. The idea of the build is to force survivors to heal each other because of the Ring Drawing, you don't want to hook anyone with this, because survivors picking others up increases condemn. The idea is to basically search for easy hits and leave to bother someone else and stop them to heal by themselves. The most important part is to not commit a lot, just break pallets and look for easy targets. Unless the survivors are really aware of this gameplay it's 3 moris at least.

Chasing addons: sadako players like The old newspaper + reikos watch because it makes her chasing power a little bit more reliable, you can put any build along side it.

Make Your Choice build: Make Your Choice, Floods of Rage, Call of Brine, eruption. Just make sure to always hook near tvs. If the survivor turns the tv off before saving the floods of rage can help you track them.

    Hope it helps

The best sadako build is to go play sadako 2.0 aka Dredge, lol.

Sadako was exactly what I wanted in a killer, but with no anti-loop she is just such cheeks. Dredge doesn't have the hardest anti-loop ever but it is more than sufficient to actually get some things done.

In the end, they play almost exactly the same unless you are trying to condemn slug. But Dredge just does it better in every conceivable way

Sadako needs way too many perks. She needs slowdown, she needs chase perks to make up for being M1, and she needs information perks to actually utilize her mobility. There isn't really room for all of it so you always have to sacrifice in one area.

I personally can't stand her without Enduring; and it's a painful experience to play her without bamboozle. So that's half the build right there. Toss in Corrupt intervention so you don't lose 30 seconds off 3 gens before your first TV turns on. Maybe BBQ or Rancor for the final perk slot?

Rancor seems prime for her since she will be losing lots of games and you can follow the obsession demanifested until it's time to Mori them in a game gone south

I used to do bad with Sadako, she is just sad little tv girl. no threat.

but then I watched https://www.twitch.tv/onepumpwillie who plays Sadako in a way to maximize condemned. He is worth a watch.

You can go full condemned stacker or mix, but if you try to play her like a normal m1/hook Killer she is a wet towel in your face.

Now my Sadako is steroid abusing power house, she will crush tiny little men.

(I dont know why I wrote this in TF2 Heavy's voice.)

    Hello!

Thank you for your suggestions, my friend, I really appreciate the help!

I am happy to see that some of the perks you've mentioned I was already considering for my builds. Guess I was doing something right, after all.

In particular, I am glad to see A Nurse's Calling in there. This perk used to be an extremely important aspect of the old meta, and for me it never really left. It is good to have confirmation that Sadako can take advantage of this perk too.

I will make sure to keep all of this in mind for my next trials.

    Yeah, that... won't do.

I don't even have Dredge, nor any intention of buying him, so this is off the table.

Make Your Choice is a must-have on her, in my opinion.

    It brings back memories, honestly.

I will make sure to test it.

Bit of a shame. If you enjoy the chaotic everywhere-at-once playstyle he is definitely the go to. And he actually has a wide variety of good addons; including wallhack addons

Sadako you can try anything you want but at the end of the day she is just an M1 killer with some mobility. If the survivors can loop she is gonna get slapped. The better they can loop or the safer the map, the more she needs the chase perks to even function

"If you enjoy the chaotic everywhere-at-once playstyle"

I have been playing a lot of Onryo myself and much to my surprise I have been really enjoying her. I don't feel I am in a position to give build suggestions but I must say I have had survivors say they had a lot of fun (I don't camp or tunnel) as I made full use of her teleport so they were in constant fear never knowing where I am going to pop up from lol

Getting her adept was not the easiest but I am glad I chose to get it on her as it made me play her and I think she is fun even with her own default perks as a build :)

    Nice!

Her adept was easy for me, actually, got it on my second match.

She is extremely fun to play, imho. Haven't had that much fun with a character in this game since... well, a long time.

Welcome back, friend! I am very happy that you found someone you enjoy playing as again!

While I don't play Sadako a whole lot, I have a lot of fun using STBFL, Haunted Grounds, Devour Hope, and Undying on her.

Sloppy Butcher and Make Your Choice also seem to be great on her due to her using m1 attacks and her power allowing her to be mobile.

Hello, my friend! It is good to see you :)

And hey, I was actually running Devour Hope yesterday. Didn't get any moris, sadly, but the insta-down really came in clutch. It requires a bit of luck, as it always did, but overall DH seems to be a good choice.

    Little update here:

For now, I've settled for A Nurse's Calling, Brutal Strength, Make Your Choice and Thanatophobia.

It seems to be working quite well, even better than I hoped.

Still, more suggestions are always welcome!

    I use 2 builds.

    Build 1:

    Sloppy

Franklins (If more than 1 med kit otherwise I use ruin)

    Deadlock

    STBFL

    Build 2:

    Brutal Strength

    COB

    Enduring

Franklins (If more than 2 med kits otherwise I run bamboozle)

Im an Onryo main and have played her since release and I've had good success with these builds

Right so. I currently main Slaydako and Pyramid Head 50/50 and they're my 2 go-to killers. Plus you know me, so you know I'm trustworthy.

My build for some optimal Slaydako Yassamura gameplay is:

    -Call of Brine

    -Eruption

    -Enduring

    -Sloppy Butcher

For addons you want to use Well Stone and Cabin Sign.

Basically you teleport around the map, be a minor nuisance, and then all at once suddenly Eruption snowball into a complete curbstomp. The addons are there to make TVs return faster but not Iri Tape levels of fast because that addon makes me sad(ako).

Sloppy is incredibly good because of the healing meta and while you're teleporting around, being a nuisance, and generally stalling the game with Condemned you'll be getting lots of 1st hits (and not many 2nd hits), so slowing down healing adds up (all the while you build up the Eruption snowball). Plus it's always nice to interrupt a Sloppy heal.

Enduring is a must have, because I like to play loops as an M1 killer in a way that means I eat a lot of pallets. I can't play her without it tbh because being stunned so much hurts.

And then Call of Eruption is just good. COB is like the best regression perk in the game right now and Eruption is just busted so they go happily hand in hand skipping down the road.

I'm on my phone this is the best cropping I can do.

    Also, hi again

Interesting builds. Actually I've used some of those perks for testing purposes, but I didn't get to play many trials.

Still, Brutal Strength being there is already a good sign.

Hello, old friend! It seems I have found a reason to play this game again.

And hey, first Old Freddy and now Sadako? I am sensing a pattern here :)

Anyway, I liked your build suggestion. Both Sloppy Butcher and Enduring seem to be common factors among Sadako's builds, and I can see why.

As for the Call of Brine / Eruption combo... well, I've definitely heard about it before. It might take a while for me to test it for myself, because I don't have Eruption available for everyone, but I will make sure to keep this build in mind.
