What do you think of this year's Bone Chill?
Well for my first impression I got hit with this loading screen:
I usually play on low settings to keep the game brighter despite having a worthy PC and this is the first time I ever got a pixel-vomit loading screen. I turned it up to medium to fix this.
After getting into the game it's about what I expected. I want to say it's disappointing but it really isn't, it's exactly what I expected at least appearance-wise.
Gameplay-wise, it actually is disappointing. The snowmen literally are nothing but hiding places and almost completely useless for survivors. They just enable killers to camp with free stealth.
Last year they were original and more fun. And certain killers could outplay the free hit they offered survivors.
Cool we got an Event Tome... where are the fun community challenges?
P.S. They should really just disable the matchmaking incentives at this point since they don't work for me at all despite always being displayed. They are a straight up lie.

I like it. Rewards are fantastic.
Hiding as killers is pretty funny. Yes snowman camping is not healthy for the game but you can already do a very similar thing with perks or a few killer powers so it's not a huge power boost or anything.
For survivor i think the changes are fair. They are more fit for purpose. They are supposed to be for hiding not body blocking. They did make them move a lot faster though which is appreciated.
Overall i think it's a great event that definitely took in the feedback from last year.

I actually like it - Last year I didn't like that the event felt very one sided with what you could do. Glad that all the feedback was taken into account and now both sides can use snowmen. That change wasn't expected but it's a much welcome change. To be honest in some way I wouldn't be against some sort of power with how killers can use snowmen in the future. Kind of interesting overall tbh.

Snowmen seem unnecessary this year. Way people are playing can't really enjoy them. Try to go give a high five and you get hit out of them. Killers just seem super angry seeing them even though they can injure survivors in them and the can get BP for giving high fives in them.
Wish the gens gave everyone BP when they are finished so those stuck in a chase unable to touch a gen weren't losing out on event BP. Bummer missing out on BP and it just encourages people to chose staying on a gen instead of rescuing someone so they don't miss out on bonus BP.
Barely getting any event items in the bloodwebs.
Wish the challenges encouraged more relaxed attitudes for both sides like "hop in X snowmen" or "give x high fives" but instead "finish x gens" requires Survivors to be more gen focused which makes killers play more sweaty.
Overall pretty disappointing/meh event. I'm just going to get my challenges done for cosmetics and then play holiday event in different game.

I like that you can get the rewards without having to go through the effort of either hitting survivors in snowmen or being hit in a snowmen. If you didn't play when the event launched, it was hard as killers were often playing ones who could ignore the snowmen and survivors later on just stopped going into snowmen.

i don't get why survivor are able to move so much more quickly in snowmen than killers are.

Ngl the event is kinda garbage. Last year the snowmen were added cause it was the way to earn some ingame cosmetics. This year they literally do nothing. I am gonna finish the tome challenges and then go back to play other games.

They are part of some tome challenges but in level 1 they are optional.

Giving killers a psuedo-Insidious for free in every match is absolutely horrible for the game. Being able to run Insidious and do a similar thing is not the same at all, because almost no one runs Insidious and if they do they have to waste a perk slot on it.
This year killers can run 4 slowdowns and Insidious face-camp for free. Merry Christmas everybody!
It just makes me want to die and go next every round as soon as I've progressed or completed my tome challenge if it is possible to, which also is unhealthy for the game.
I don't find it funny at all. Like @FeelsBadMan, I'm getting my rewards and getting TFO and will play a bit on Tuesday again to kill page 2 of the tome.
Events are supposed to be fun and not just rewarding.

We like it. Snowmen for both sides and points for hi-fives (Litterally, you now get points for hi-fiving in snowmen. Whether or not its survivor and survivor, or killer and survivor. Thats hilarious.) Defiantly at least feels better than last years snowmen.

I mean ghost face sadako and dredge already can undetectable camp but it's not common

pretty disappointing, snowmen do nothing so its just normal dbd gameplay with christmas decorations.
especially with the meta atm- the game is insanely stale & its hard to find the motivation to wanna play it lmfao.

I totally agree: It's really boring.
- Snowmen don't do anything for Survivors (just slowing them down when using them)
- Killers can now Facecamp without Terrorradius for free (no Insidious needed)
- you can't unlock anything while using the Snowmen
- special Tomes are great BUT nothing that I would call an Event (we do Tomes all year)
- even the Christmas Cosmetics this year are kinda meh (the only good Outfits in my opinion are Yun-Jin Lee's Reindeer Outfit and Snowman Dredge)
- but at least the Christmas Decorations look really beautiful

Rewards are fine but people are still continuing to play during events like it’s a tournament with a 30000 dollar prize win

is that what the snowflakes are?
I was wondering why we were spinning around.

Event is okay, I generally prefer double BP but I will take free stuff and daily login rewards too.
It is good they removed the ability for snowmen to tank hits too as that was pretty unfair to killers in the last one.

This is my first Winter Event, and I think the Snowmen are a lot of fun. I do however feel like nobody thought about the Camping Snowmen. So many of my games have killers camping out around hook getting a free Insidious. I would assume I am quite low MMR, maybe this is why I am seeing this happen so many times?
I do wish however that there was an objective to work toward like in the Halloween Event. I loved collecting the energy and having to deposit it. Would have been nice to have had something like that in this event.
But can we talk about the Event item in the bloodweb? Or rather the lack of event items in the bloodweb?? The Dowsing Rods from Halloween were sometimes 2-3 PER WEB! I am only getting the Winter Party Starter maybe once every two webs. And this is an item I am going to be able to use after the event. Unlike the 270 Dowsing Rods I have sat on my main right now and who knows how many on other survivors, that I am never going to have a use for.

I already wrote a post about this but it got moved to Feedback (can't wait to see the devs thoughts on it!) so I don't think it was seen much but yeah, I'm with the majority here.
- No BP/event offerings means no incentive to not play game altering offerings (maps, moris, shrouds, wards, etc)
- Bloodwebs are essentially empty besides firecrackers. The removal of the boxes, while very nice to speed up bloodwebs, make leveling feel so bland
- Snowmen no longer offer protection so there is legit no reason for survivors to interact with them. If the survivor spends time in the snowman, already not progressing the objective, and gets found, they are at best injured and at worst, instant downed
- Survivors getting nothing feels EXTRA terrible this year with the re-balancing patch, current gen kick/slowdown meta and Kindred being bugged as a solo queue survivor
- Even when playing as killer, the lack of reason for the survivors to interact with the snowmen means they are just pounding gens and any cute snowman plays as killer are instantly known because survivors don't have a reason to enter the snowman.
Being able to dodge a hit last year in chase was bogus but this is a terrible overcorrection. They could have easily solved it by the snowmen either sending the survivors in to deep wounds when hit (so can't stack with other endurance effects) or have a 3-5 second unlock/unzip animation before a survivor can jump in.
I finished the event tome (at least for all the rewards) and I honestly think my only logins are going to be to get the daily login bonus. The fact I was so looking forward to this event makes it that much more disappointing, especially as the Halloween event felt like such an upgrade over last years.

Trying to have fun in this event is hard, the new FOMO rules really ruined it for me
1 -
Yeah I was surprised by how low res the loading background is. They really did not want to put much effort this year.

i like the design and the atmosphere.

I like the free stuff. The snowmen feel rather underwhelming as survivor I gotta admit. The outfits are pretty great although I am not buying any. The only thing missing is survivors/killer shard discount.
1 -
I was fine with the extra healthstate snowmen, it was that it completely borked certain killers' powers.
That said, being able to cram a size 12 Nemesis into a size 5 snowman and burst out on people will never not be amazing.

I like the tome and the winter party starters, but the in game event is nothing but decor. Other than the two tome challenges there is literally no good reason to interact with snowmen.
Then they announced FOMO on items that we've had in store for a long time... Directly after they said old cosmetics would be given the option to buy them with iridescent shards.
Everybody hated that.

The snowmen are cute and that’s more than enough for me honestly.
I will agree it feels a little bland now that survivors don’t actually have much reason to get in a snowman, but on the other hand they were so ridiculously broken last year that I’d much rather have it the way it is now. At least they move faster than last year which is nice.
