Why is this allowed / possible in this game?
Why?! Why you can pick a map where you know you can abuse not ideal hook spawns and then use your perks and teammates to prevent killer from hooking?! What a fun match.

Probably for the same reason that you can play Starstruck Nurse on Midwich and bleed everyone out.
Which is....uh.....they haven't gotten around to it?

Dont like it? There are offerings for that.

Just slug.
If they run Boil Over, using a Map offering with Petrified Oaks and sabotage hooks, that means they want you to slug.

No flip flop? They are doing it wrong.

Offerings for what? Prevent someone from using a type of build? Should I run a green offering just in case every game that is rare and you might not even get one after 5+ bloodwebs? Damn.

Gimmicky builds are completely fair in my opinion, they're after all putting all your marbles in the same bag, but map offerings should get removed, on both sides.
The problem is that : if we're removing map offerings, what will they be replaced with in the bloodweb ? They're a green rarity item that's somehow quite common (I tend to get at least 2 or 3 by full bloodweb). And I don't think replacing them with items as they are now would be a good idea... Turning them into addons would also be strong, and turning them into bloodpoints offering would give you more bp offerings than you could ever hope to spend.
I think a rework of the map offerings (which is necessary in my opinion, though no front burner) would imply a complete rework of the bloodweb, and I'm not sure how willing the devs are to step on that tricky terrain at this point in time.

Why? Why can you go to literally any map where you know you can camp that 3 gen from the start using your perks to prevent survivors from finishing gens?! What a fun match.
I don't see how two people running boil over is something to be irate over. Especially since BHVR has specifically targeted areas like Thompson house and RPD library in the past to mitigate this kind of strategy. You aren't seeing this regularly, this is a one-off game.
On the other hand, the other team bringing a full perk loadout designed to prevent you from progressing your objective in any meaningful capacity is literally killer meta right now.
The frustrated player in me wants to see boil over become survivor meta. It won't solve anything, but it looks like we'll have Eruption in every match for another 3 months at least. I think you can survive one bad game like this every 6 months.

Map offerings are necessary for certain killer builds. Mirror Myers is my all time favourite killer build and I'm getting kinda sick of all the proposed changes and suggestions that want to remove gameplay options and make the game more boring, which includes the new mori system too.
Plus no map is so unbalanced that one side doesn't have a chance. There's only really one map with hook placements so bad that it can potentially force the killer into this situation, which is Midwhich. However I've tried it. I've run a "you can't hook me" build, burned Mary's Letter, another survivor played Petrified Oak, sabo'd hooks, and the killer still managed to get everyone on a hook. It's too big a gamble, it's never a foregone conclusion.
It would be far better (and not that difficult!) to balance maps properly, than to remove the ability to influence the map you end up on. Simply review hook placements on Midwich and maybe Lerys, adjust Garden of Joy similarly to Eyrie, and it's fine.

Well you cant change their build, but if it happens enough its worth complaining about then it happens enough to try and counter it, by either blocking theirs or using your own map offering.

Agreed. I think maps offerings are perfectly fine, exactly for the reason you said. A GREAT map for the build showcased is midwhich, utilizing the basement of main. (Boil over, flip flop, expo, breakout, no mither, etc). So much fun. π
On the flip side, I donβt really care if they bring map. I just bring my cake and grind my BP regardless.

I think both would have to be tested to have a final opinion on whether map offerings should be removed or not.
Because sure, some killer builds are only possible on certain maps. But some survivor builds are also only possible on certain maps. And a lot of killers weren't too happy about unhookable / unsluggable builds on Badham or RPD, for example. Or Head On / Vigil on some maps with good sets of lockers. Or lobbies who know how to run Dead Dawg main building.
So eventually, the community will have to pick a side on whether map offerings are okay or not... I personally wouldn't care if they were removed. I understand though if for some others they are important to keep. I don't think there is one side that is more right than the other.
I hate the new mori system though, and hope it never comes to live.

I bet the survivors had fun. π

Map offerings are fine. The maps themselves are just unbalanced.

I HATE that playstyle. It's not that bad if it's one person, but some whole teams will have it. :/ I usually sit in corner waiting for match to end, it's just not a fun match. Or if I'm feeling froggy I'll attempt a merciless streak.

Map offerings are one of the worst things left in the game and is basically akin to attempting to rig the game. I don't know what they could change them to, maybe they could add a bunch of possible map effects and tie them to offerings to transform the random map you get in certain ways? That might be too much work but either way map offering have got to go.

Tbh i thought you were talking about midwich and how an entire hall way can spawn without hooks. Never quite understood why classrooms dont have hook spawns.
