What is that clonk noise!?

Every now and then, in the Red Forest map, there's just this... clonk. What is it meant to be (aside from the game's usual obnoxiously loud environmental SFX)?

    Are you using any perks that make noise? I believe Leon's flashbang is an example of a perk that makes a noise when it is ready

    No idea. Back in 2018 and/or 2019, I used to hear a breath shudder at the very beginning of some matches. I haven’t heard it in years though. No idea what it was or why.

    Do you mean the phantom David breathing? One used to hear that and it drove me crazy when I started because I always thought there was a survivor around that I couldn't find.

    I don't know about a clonk, but i have noticed that the ambient noise for treatment theatre seems to be playing on every map.

    Nah, it's definitely environmental SFX, it's perk independent. it's a sort of wooden clonk that I guess might just be 'oh here's two sticks bashing together', but it sounds way more like some sort of water hammer or freaking musical woodblock.

  • I hear it in Swamp, parts of Eyrie and parts of Disturbed Ward. I used to think it was possible hatch spots but when I heard it on Eyrie it disproved me of that.

    I've also heard it on Macmillan. I swear, this damn wooden clonk sound is everywhere...

    I know exactly what you're talkin about. No idea what it is, but I've heard it on several maps when playing killer and survivor. It's just a random ass clonk. Pretty weird.

    What killer do you hear it on? I know that Bubba's chainsaw makes a banging/gulping noise that I THINK is supposed to be the gas moving around in the tank of the chainsaw.

    There's a lot of ambience SFX that I have no idea what they are meant to be.

    I don't know about a clonking noise, but I keep hearing odd bubble noises on the Swamp, specifically in the doorway of the killer shack. Idk if they were ever there before.

    It almost kinda sounds like that, but not quite the same. And it can happen anytime, without Plague.

    I've been playing Bubba, and I worked it out! It's the noise of charges returning. Which is... this wooden clonk, for... some reason.

    I have heard this noise as well. It is almost like a deep sounding car door or large cabinet closing or something like that. Almost like when recording the ambient sound for the map or a certain killer, someone slammed a door shut. And now it is forever memorialized in the game map recordings.
