End of match BP points.
I am having a debate with my friend who argues that having the most points at the end of a match equates to how good the player is and how good your MMR rating is. This leads him to making rash decisions during the match just to try to rack up points. I believe this is not true.
Is there any weight in his argument? Am i wrong?

The points aren't a perfect analysis of someone's performance, but they do certainly indicate somewhat how much someone has done. There are some things that throw it off, like someone wasting a killer's time by drawing their attention and then hiding does not award points, or how the categories are capped, but if someone escapes with around 15K points or less in a properly engaged match, they certainly didn't do well.

I mean, it could be seen as a measure of how well you did that match. But as a measure of MMR… that makes no sense. A low-level survivor is going to be making the same amount of BP in Objective as a “high”-level player. Especially when perks like Prove Thyself fill up your Objective category in no time.
Not to mention the disparity between certain killers’ Deviousness score events. Plague vs Blight, for example. Plus the difference between killer BP gain and survivor BP gain.

Im being injured willing to sacrifice myself doing the last Gen that give me merely 2000 BP going on and off from Gens.
While teammate keep taking turn doing unhook/heal that give them 1800 BP per turn. Often Im always have the least BP.

the last sure known MMR rating is based on escapes / kills. how that was changed to get the team factor in is pure speculation.

Strong disagree. There are many games that I’m in chase the entire match and I got the lowest amount of BP from my buddies. I simply didn’t get the chance to do gens or altruistic acts.

it doesn't have anything to do with player skill sadly, it shows how much you have done in the match, a person looping for 5 gens will get less points than the people who rushed to unhook as an example

100% this. People don't realize being in chase means you get nothing in altruism and objectives so points are usually lower.

Yea it sucks. If I get a 5 gen chase, I always end with around 15k.

Mikaela booning the same totem five tmes in the game gives her a bunch of BP but was she really helping her team?
