BHVR favoritism for White Characters
So, with the new release of cosmetics coming up, it needs to be said how I’m disappointed in Behaviors treatment towards their people of color cast. Every update, white characters are put on a pedestal and are given the most exciting fits of the best fits in general.
If it’s not the usual white cast of characters: Dwight, Kate, Mikeala, David, Nea, Felix, and now Vittorio, then it’s their usual token lighter skin Asian Feng Min who gets a thousand fits. Whereas, awesome characters like Elodie, Haddie, Zarina, Adam, Jake, and Claudette continue to get neglected with either NO cosmetics or just BAD cosmetics. Behaviour claims to push for diversity, but it feels like they’re just saying it while lazily putting in the effort to really represent these characters of darker complexion.
People say it’s based on who’s popular, but people are going to play characters with frequent cosmetics and good treatment in the game. It really sucks and hopefully BHVR realizes other characters that aren’t WHITE exists as well and needs proper representation. Like Haddie came before Vittorio, but he already has a tome and they’ve already carried on the blatant “sex sells” methods to push him; a basic white guy just like they did with Felix. And Felix is paired with Elodie, yet she gets NOTHING.
Going back to my last point, all of the white female characters get frequent cute fits (the token light skin Feng Min too), and the darker skin girls get one good fit with pretty much the rest being bad or non-exsistent. As for white males, don’t get me started. They are soooooo favored. We barely have people of color male characters, and they are super neglected. Do better BHVR :/

Did you just put Claudette in that category? I agree otherwise. But you have to know , these characters are very popular so they get most.

I think it's less of favoritism due to race but moreso just with the popularity of the characters.
Feng Min got a lot of cosmetics recently, and will continue to get a lot more, but it's because she is a popular character. Same with Nea and all the 4 original characters (since they are poster children for DBD).
I do wish other characters got more cosmetics, Haddie has really been shafted, so it is a sentiment I can agree with, but it has nothing to do with race.

Feng gets a skin every other patch because of how popular she is. It's not about their race, it's about what sells.

OK so you consider Feng light skin but Jake is not ? Jake is south korean.

Dude the racism argument gets used anywhere nowadays when people somehow find a fit for it.
I really doubt this has anything to do with race, as other people have said, popularity does play a role indeed.

the cherry picking in the comments were to be expected. I’m saying her cosmetics tend to look bad, and the fact you all aren’t speaking on OTHER people of color characters to counter act tiny stance is very telling on your end.
if you’re going to address my stance with Claudette, be sure to talk about the unfair treatment to other people of color characters and the pedestal white characters are put on. And don’t say it’s about race, because as I said it is if THE MAJORITY of cosmetic updates and quality treatment are given to white characters. Also, if you are a white person, pls don’t say things about race when i addressed that it is and that regardless of popularity, it’s bhvr job to PROPERLY REPRESENT those who are misrepresented; and that group is the very few characters of color in the roster.

Claudette has a lot of skins. Also wether or not certain cosmetics look good or not is based on opinions not facts. Adam has a lot of cool skins (they don't fit his image of a teacher though) as well as Elodie. I agree on people of color not getting a lot of cosmetics though (except Claudette). They should give them a bigger spotlight.

This. I'm honestly tired of it. It's obvious why some survivors get more cosmetics than others... it's because they are played MORE. It has nothing to do with race.

And as I said, it APPLIES. don’t be dismissive as if it’s not blatantly clear that white characters in the game are pushes to the forefront and DARKER colored characters are sidelined or not properly represented. The majority of updates has a vast rosters of white characters and not minorities. It’s a process, but bhvr is not doing a great job at it. Dwight, Meg, Mikeala, Vittotio, Felix, Kate, Nea, and etc are for sure given more preferential treatment compared to others.

- Yun and Feng are Asian. Vittorio is Mediterranean.
- Asian =/= White unless you're some sort of loopy hotep or BII type.
- Jake is also Asian.
- Characters of darker complexion already have advantages - they can be bloody impossible to find on some maps.
- And yet I see a billion Jills and Leons running around.
- Sex sells =/= White.
- Yun, Jake, Claudette. Both with a ton of outfits.
- There are plenty of nonwhite male characters. Vittorio isn't white. He's Italian - which is closer to Hispanic, in terms of genus.

What are the demographics of people who play DbD? Because I have a feeling that PoC survivors are actually overrepresented for the playerbase.

Claudette and Feng Min (black and asian) get tons of cosmetcs, in fact Claudette is getting a new cosmetic in the next tome as you can see in the easy anticheat splash screen.
Also the cosmetics looking bad or good is subjetive, most of Feng Min cosmetics are top tier imo.

Its about what characters are played the most, stop the race card bs, if anything the devs proved they are pretty woke by removing Bubba masks because some people were being trolls towards poc with them

I care if my takes are factually correct and logically sound.

Definitionally? It depends whether you're talking about genus/'race' in the ethnogeographical sense or in the '-oid', entirely biological sense.
Colloquially? Greeks, Italians, Spaniards, Portuguese etc. generally do not think of themselves as ethnically 'white'.

You are wrong, I'm mediterranean and we consider us white, the amount of people here with black hair, black eyes and a bit darker skin is higher than north Europe but the body and facial features are more like the people of the rest of Europe than the people of the north of Africa for example.
