Hud changes make Killer less fun
I notice several immediate changes in DBD with the hud changes.
1) Killer bonus is 100% every time I log in.
2) Killer feels miserable to play. Every single game is that much sweatier than the last game. Why? Because everyone knows what to do during the entire match. Why would you give the survivors omniscience?
What is a stealth killer supposed to do now? The entire premise is ruined because you know Ghost Face is in a chase.
3) My games are much closer and everyone is way more efficient. If I were a Blight/Nurse main you would say well that's good. But I'm not. I play a killer most people put in the "B-C" block
These changes are going to make survivors love DBD and it's going to push killers away. Let us not forget that right before the 6.0 patch we had very few killers actually willing to play the role.

Don't worry my friend, we'll get 0.1% faster pallet breaking six months now as compensation for the increased efficiency

Man I must be playing in the wrong games as survivor haha I've seen killers get 4k a few times since patch

Killer bonus is 100% every time I log in.
That changes for everyone depending on MMR, time of day, and region. Queue incentives are the same as always for me, going back and forth between killer and survivor depending on time of day.

Stealth killers are stealthy outside of chase, they get the drop on survivors who are busy with gens or healing or whatever. Stealth killers are usually much less stealthy while in chase. SWF are already able to share the knowledge that a teammate is in chase with a stealth killer. Why withhold that info from solo survivors when SWF already have it? Not giving that info to solo survivors just leaves an unfair gap between solo and SWF and it makes all killers, including stealth killers, more difficult to balance.
My games are much closer and everyone is way more efficient.
I haven't experienced this in my survivor matches. Mostly I just see that I'm the only person working on gens, which if I then become the only person taking aggro and still no one is touching gens then I know to just get myself hooked and move on to a new match. My killer matches don't feel any different, either.
So, everyone is having different experiences and all any of us have to offer is anecdotal evidence. If there's an increase in survivor efficiency and escape rates, then hopefully BHVR won't drag their feet and they'll buff killers as necessary.

This forum really likes exaggerating, but calling solo queue survivors "omniscient" because they can see icons is a whole new level lol.
I guess killers should be called hackers too because they can see things like gens location and loud noise notifications right?
I wish people making this kind of posts would share their survivor gameplay. OP please play ~10 matches of solo queue then come back and tell us how much you are in love with the survivor role again. Especially curious how you can exploit the omniscience information when tyour teammate is getting facecamped.

what is wrong with having closer matches man??
ok this is legit hilarious

"I wish people making this kind of posts would share their survivor gameplay."
I wish they would share their Killer-gameplay because I am very sure that it would show immediatly that not the Icons are the problem. But once again, DBD-players are unable to say "Hm... Maybe I did not play THAT well during that match...", but go for some scapegoat. In this case - Icons which show that the other Survivors are doing nothing...

The game already favors survivors unless you play Blight/Nurse every game.
That's an old meme and it's been true for almost the entire lifecycle of the game after the first patch that nerfed the main survivor perks (Sprint/Self Care/etc.)

My games are about the same they were pre HUD update but according to the forums, the icons turned survivors into seal team six. I'm not going to act like these HUD icons aren't a big deal but guys it's been two days. Our games were sweatfests before, the icons didn't change that.

Funny enough unless they disabled the bonus I logged in an neither killer nor survivor has a bonus.

Ok so what buff are you planning to give Stealth killers then if everyone always knows what they are doing?

Remember there's an event going on. Events bring out the worst in people.

Just after 6.1 the incentive was 100% bonus on survivor for the longest and there were many posts on when will killer get their incentive. Now that it's the other way around suddenly it's a sign killer is unfun.
I don't think any amount of buffs the killer role gets will make it less stressful or more fun. Especially when the focus is always on what survivor gets with every update.

Most of the games I play are against very high MMR players. The first game I played last night was 2/4 members of a tournament team.
What I have noticed is that in times past when you had multiple players not on coms they hesitated and that hesitation made the game fair.
-"I don't think any amount of buffs the killer role gets will make it less stressful or more fun."
Sadly you're probably right. Somewhere around 95-99% of my friends who played killer since the beginning have quit. Why? Because it's always 2 steps forward for the survivor and 1 step forward for the killer (with sometimes 1 step back as well).
It is incredibly convenient that DBD released a "major buff" update to killer right before VHS came to beta. And then when VHS flopped they buffed survivor with +5 seconds of BT.
I'm super interested in TCM because it will be 3 vs 4 and both sides will have voice coms. The reality is that the devs flat out refuse to adjust SWF because they know the community would tear them to shreds for doing the right thing.

None, because I don't work for BHVR. As for what BHVR might do, I have no idea. Maybe they'll finally fix Ghostface's stalk and breaking him out of stealth. Maybe they'll make it so Myers can't run out of stalk or they'll let him move faster and have a lunge while in tier 1. Maybe BHVR will let Myers and Ghostface walk faster while they stalk or do an add-on rework. I'm just as curious as you what they'll come up with to buff their killers.
1 -
For me, the bonus has been on killer like 95% of the time for the last 3-4 weeks, and has been 100% on killer since the update/event started. As a result, I haven't been playing much surv, which sucks. I'm a slave to those BP, I guess.
That said, my games as killer since the update haven't been appreciably harder.
2 -
-"my games as killer since the update haven't been appreciably harder"
From everything you said it sounds like you mostly play survivor. The only people I know who actually get sweaty games are my friends who log into DBD to play killer solo and only play SWF if with friends.
MM is in need of a complete rework. So if you want to talk rework not compensation for ruining the stealth mechanic - sure.
- His power needs to work like Oni where the meter fills then he taps it to activate
- Either remove the T1 speed penalty of -5% or give him +5% for the rest of the game when he gets to T2.
- Since GF's stalk is one minute MM almost certainly needs to stalk faster (longer duration would just be cheese). Toward this end they could restore the "multistalk" feature that was taken away less than a week after his release. He should probably lose the "less stalking from far away" since that's what he did in the movies.

I had 50% bonus BP for survivors role when I started. It's very time of the day dependant.

if you want to talk rework
Not really, no. BHVR will do what they're going to do. I have my own wishlist of things I want for the game, and I'll be forever sad that they won't be implemented; no reason to set myself up for more disappointment coming up with new never-gonna-happen features for my wishlist.
I was throwing quick ideas at the wall in my previous post because you asked, but the main reason I answered is I wanted to make sure you understood that I don't work on DbD myself. I could get in trouble if the mods think I'm pretending to be a developer when I'm just a player.

When I play killer, I work under the assumption that survivors have near perfect information regardless. So from my perspective, little has changed when I play killer. I love the change when playing as a survivor though since I almost always play solo queue. It's not like it really changes what I do most of the time. It's just nice knowing if other survivors are actively working gens or just dorking around. But strategically, little has changed in how I play. If I'm not being chased by killer - work gens. If I'm being chased by killer, then my goal is to buy the maximum amount of time for my team.

Thats not where the punishment for killer happens. Its the small inefficiencies in survivors gameplay that smoothed over Behaviors trash balancing. Take Huntress and Trickster, the time to reload is the same as before, but those couple of seconds saved by the HUD, now punish reloading more then ever. So running increased hatchet and knives addons are more important now, then ever. On maps like new Haddonfield where you average reload, unless standing directly by a locker, takes 30 seconds, those survivors are already healed and on the other side of the map, if you find yourself out of hatchets / knives.
Even in SWFs with coms, the HUD is a direct buff, as it clears coms, and provides an exact timing of actions. When I play survivor, its always solo, and I sit around an 80% escape rate. After the buff, I literally have to try to throw a match or get other players who are trying to throw a match to actually not escape. First day of patch I had 14 solo escape streak on new Eyrie, of which 12 were 4 escape, 1 was 3 escape, and 1 was me escaping solo. My 15th match on Eyrie that day, was only lost because I had two teammates intentionally throwing. Personally I would like a toggle, so I can remove the extra HUD elements as it clutters my vision, especially when holding certain angles on gens vs stealth killers.

I mean... Technically that means you're playing way more efficiently, if you think about it 😋

Really wondering what they’re going to do with all the stealth killers now. They were already some of the weaker killers in the game and now this hud change hits them a lot harder than the rest the roster. At this point they need really significant buffs.
0 -
They will leave them for 6 months to a year and focus on releasing more RPD skins, Feng skins, and nerfing Eruption for a 5th time. Then they might toss an addon rework out of pity, or they might just send them to hang out with Freddy. If the new Nurse Chase Music is indicative of what these devs have in mind for balancing a killer, just unplug the servers, because this aint it chief.
These devs are becoming a joke again. We need another community stream so we can meme on them hard enough to get actual balance in the game.
Balancing perks and ######### is expected, but to nerf a killers ability to hear sounds as a means to balance a killer because bad survivors exists, is just a disgrace, and these devs mothers should be disappointed in them.

I just had a 4k 0 gen no camping or tunneling or slugging, i dont have any issues its great for me
1 -
haha you're not wrong. I've felt that I'm getting more value for my time spent in matches the past few days, but I'm sure that's also because of the extra BP from the event. We'll see if it still feels better in a couple weeks.
On a related note, the new icons are nice, but we're missing one icon for sure: a crow icon. When I pull some AFKer out of a locker, their teammates deserve to know it's because there were three birds cawing at me. (It would help survivors for real, too: that teammate who's not on a gen isn't going for the save, they're AFK. I had this get me and my friend killed just yesterday in a match and I could tell the killer was pissed at the AFKer and the guy who let us die on our first hooks.)
2 -
yeah, it would be nice if it showed survivors were AFK, that way you don't risk your life unhooking them or anything lol
2 -
Have HUD icons already become the new excuse for killers to justify their inefficiency in playing games? So soon already?
6 -
I will just sit here.
0 -
Yep. It is never their fault. We all know that.
6 -
That wouldn't happen to have been a Dredge on Dead Dawg Saloon, would it?
0 -
Sorry, no, it was a Myers on Thompson House.
0 -
Would've been a funny coincidence, because I did have a match the other day with one AFK, and the fourth survivor refusing to unhook both of her actually active teammates.

killer games have been rough for me recently but solo queue for me has been less rough so... i'll take the trade deal honestly

3) My games are much closer and everyone is way more efficient. If I were a Blight/Nurse main you would say well that's good. But I'm not. I play a killer most people put in the "B-C" block
The issue is mainly that survivors dont interpret the game form the lense of a subpar killer. In their heads Blight facerolls over everyone. Spirits dog them non stop, Nurses left and right, Top tier addons always every meta iridescent addon perk u name it . So when there is even small changes that help survivors something like a super strong main building or an overly pallet dense area, on a bad killer that sht is magnified tenfold.
the hud itself realistically isin't helping the guy who crab walks around and doesn't push gens, that guy is gonna do that with the hud or with out. Who it really helps is the strong solo players to be even stronger. Assuming you play Killer or anyone who posts plays killer more then 20 games, you will quickly notice once ur mmr goes up it becomes much more difficult.
Reality is , if you are Blight main nurse main probably even spirit main. None of this concerns you. If you are super high end SWF, this might help you a little bit, but probably not noticeably, because you prolly never lose games anyway.
You are 100% right HUD does make the games more sweaty, and there is really only one solution. Become a Blight/Nurse/Spirit main. Invest 300k BP get the most absurd addons every game, and sht down the survivors throats. walk on their bleeding corpses, bleed them out, facecamp them, and at the end type gg friends. I have all of those killers Unlocked i don't particularly enjoy any of them, but i have low mmr on them and even when i can't play them i can destroy people, its probably cause the mmr is pisslow but it doesn't matter. If you have run the utmost sweatiest builds and use every possibility to be as toxic as possible, it actually makes the game way more fun.
if you need a little inspiration, this guy made me realize that playing like OTZ is actually so much worse for no reason.

Sorry to interrupt but even if you and i play the same killer on the same map against the same survivors, the simple RNG of the map and Spawns can make it so one of us has better results than the other and that has nothing to do with our ability to play the game.
You're right, every killer makes mistakes and plays we might not consider skillfull but the matches are completly different based on Map RNG.
For us to be able to say that "you're just playing bad" is valid it would have to be on the exact same conditions. Then you still have to account for game performance issues, so assuming those are non existing the game should work the exact same way for all players. Only then when everything is working perfectly and matches are exactly the same would you be able to say yeah you're just playing bad.
Map Design goes a really long way in making either side more susceptible to a certain results. You'll learn alot about Map Design by playing Call of Duty for example. CoD Maps are full of 100% one sided lines of sight, if you're not on the right side of the map you'll lose the gunfight, doesn't matter if you shot first, your chances of winning that gunfight are not the same as the other persons.

Solos needs to be buffed even more, then buff killers. This is the only way to have as little gap as possible between solo, swf and killers. So while it feels bad now for many it is for the best
0 -
What also happens is that the really good players play that much better because they know instantly who is being chased or not. They know it's safe to go back to gen XYZ.
This patch just reinforces the idea I need to kill one player asap. That's bad for the game.
I am 100% aware isn't SWF but every game against good players feels like it's against a 3/4 man SWF. This is one of the worst patches for the killers since DH was introduced.
"this guy made me realize that playing like OTZ is actually so much worse for no reason".
As far as I know there are no famous killer streamers who play my killer. I watch Otz play him and he makes a lot of goofy mistakes trying to do "sexy" moves. I see Truetalent do the same. They are both very good and experienced players who have better mind game camera rolls but I can play my favorite killer much better than they can.
But that makes sense because I only play one killer (mostly) and they play every killer.
1 -
Yeah there’s no way you have a 80% escape rate in SoloQ unless you always hide for hatch when the game is going south. My friend and I only had an escape rate of about 30% last night and we both have 2000+ hours. One single mistake can cause a snowball and lose you the game
0 -
You might have missed it - I did too.
But the hud is supposed to tell the survivors the percentage of each generator. When that happens I'm not playing killer anymore for a while. That's completely ridiculous.
This new hud should be shown to the killer too.... imagine that.
Everyone forgets the killer always plays solo too.
