Toxicity is just an excuse, it’s more likely that no visual MMR was implemented to hide how flawed matchmaking is.

I don't really buy it either. Top players already know they are top players.

If you don't like that players do this then make it banable and stop them. THEN you can use it as an excuse. Until then it seems like BHVR doesn't care that killers smurf down and ruin the game.

Probably because it has the potential to make the game even more sweaty, competitive and stale. What do you think would happen, if someone that genuinely believes they are at max MMR finds themself to be just average? That wouldn't exactly humble them. Instead they would double down and do everything in their power to boost their MMR as high as possible until they can't enjoy the game anymore and stop playing.

Others would make fun of people for not being in whatever MMR bracket. And I think neither of those options are good.

Just look through the posts on this forum. It died down a little but still people try to validate everything with: "Well, actually at high MMR..." Because most people think they are at the absolute top, which they are not (otherwise the game would have huge issues).

This would also lead to people discrediting your opinions, if you aren't in the top percentages of MMR rating. And spoiler, most of us aren't. But we still have valuable feedback. It would always be something like: "In order for your opinion to matter, you first have to prove that your MMR is at least this high."

Especially casual and newer players would get picked on, if they can't provide evidence of their MMR being high, which in turn would discourage them from giving feedback and maybe even make them stop playing.
