YAY Eruption is back!
The devs have reverted the nerf of Eruption! It still doesn’t have incapacitated but it will keep the 10% regression. YESSS!!!

Honestly, the only broken thing of Eruption was the incapacitated effect, nerfing the regression too was a non sense. I'm glad to see the devs noticed it and reverted it back.

That's good I guess... but why did they need to remove Incapacitated from it though
Like before the perk update it wasn't used as much... all they needed to do was to turn down the Incapacitated status effect

Yeah, now I can have like 1 second more before the gen pop, thanks bhvr. The only strong thing about eruption was the incapacitated and I know was too much, it would be good if instead of incapacitated it only blocked the gen. 10% is useless if survs can instantly keep going with repairing.

Weak sauce. This just encourages gen kick botting once again. The original nerf was bad, but I wish at least they'd stuck to their guns and maybe made other changes. Gotta still milk sale on those RE chapters I guess. So much for the meta shake up mindset.

the regression was always the least relevant part. And its functional regression was actually higher than 10%, it was more like 17% (if nobody else rushed over to stop it before the incap wore off). So, it'd get 17% regression and stop someone from working on gens for 25s.
10% regression when you down someone in exchange for having kicked it before still probably isn't enough to justify running it, compared to other ways you could get aura read.

Glad they finally listened to the community and pulled back some. It was way over nerfed. I hope this is a new change for them going forward.

Was personally hoping both would get tuned down in the next midchapter, but it looks like that's not gonna happen.

They did the same to mettle of man. Remember when it was nerfed to where it would shut off after doing anything? They quickly reverted the change after.

Yeah I remember that as well. They have a habit of completely nuking things from existence rather than just toning them down to be more reasonable. It's usually more a killer thing (Pop, Ruin, Thana ect), but yes MoM was one of the exceptions they did to survivor as well.

Blocking the gen? Wouldn't that just be Dead Man's? I think the changes are good overall. I agree that the incapacitated effect was the strong point before but it was too much at times.

I know this isn’t a perk but They reverted the pallet flashlight change after a week cause of how bad it was.
but we can’t ignore we’re they nerfed survivor perks like mettle of man was completely nuked. DS people may claim it’s strong but it’s not that strong anymore cause you can easily catch up the 3 sec stun isn’t that big. Boil over isn’t as strong as it was. Balanced landing was nuked.
I hate it when people say this but ignore all the nerfs survivors have gotten that have been bigger.

If something that is unhealthy is made stronger by a perk, that perk shouldn't be the thing that should be changed. The fundamental problem should be changed. Making eruption useless was not the way to do this, because all it did was mean that there is one less perk that is any good, and we already have a problem (for both sides) that there are maybe half a dozen to a dozen perks that are any good.

Well I don't think that's the same thing because that wasn't something that was nuked to being bad, it was just put back to what it was originally, which was in a decent place, not bad.

MoM is the only exception and was indeed nuked to being very bad.
First I would say that DS took like 3 nerfs to finally even get here which on its own makes it not apply. However I'd also argue it's still very good. There's a reason they all still run it in comp. On a good survivor, it's good.
Boil Over even got buffed after the latest change to increase wiggling on carry skill checks. It's better than it should be as it's a very annoying perk and honestly unhealthy design. I don't think this applies to being nuked at all.
Balanced Landing was way, way over tuned. It got brought down to a fair level, it was not nuked or even close to being bad. I'd even argue (bar a couple exceptions) that Exhaustion perks in general compared to other perks are still way over tuned and could use significant balance changes. So no this doesn't apply at all either.

I'm not ignoring their nerfs, they have received some. However, over the years of this games existence survivors have been brought down from being way, way, way too strong, to now just being way too strong. So we aren't ignoring their nerfs, but they can simultaneously have received heavy nerfs and still be over tuned. Those things aren't mutually exclusive. The game is balanced around a group of random survivors that each have like 50 hours in the game. I don't think that's really a debated topic and why the balance is so terrible at the high end.

As long as the incapacitated effect stays gone I am glad. I hate being made to do nothing for nearly 30 seconds because a team mate went down.

I mean, sure, but we're taking about things like holding a 3 gen from game start for 45 minutes.
The 'fundamental problem' in this case is a core game mechanic of base kit gen defense that is taken to an ultimate extreme. And it only works because the perks are strong enough to allow it to happen and be effective. The perks are the only part that can be nerfed here to make a difference, without going as drastic as removing gen kicking from the game entirely, which is stupid.
And before we inevitably get into a discussion concerning gen speeds... Both regression and progression items and perks need to be toned *down* at some point. Buffing either or both just leads to a more extreme variance in games, and I'd argue we're already at the point where the variance in games is too far to be healthy.

Because incapacitated as a status effect is too strong to be on a perk an old eruption showed. It should be like hindered and killer instinct, relegated to add ons and killer powers only.

Part of the issue, as I understand it, is the Incapacitated was disproportionately powerful vs Solo Survivors as opposed to SWFs with comms, who could warn teammates they were about to go down.
Changing to aura reading doesn't really change that advantage but it does make getting hit by Eruption far less of an issue for solos, especially if they've got something like Distortion or Off the Record hiding their auras.

The incapacitate was the good part of the perk. This change still makes the perk trash, and it’s not worth the time it takes to kick the generator. This is even worse though, because it gives the ILLUSION that the perk might be usable, which it’s still not worth using anymore.

It made the game horrendously unfun to play on survivor. The Incapacitated mechanic probably shouldn't be in the game.

So all I'm saying that it wasn't used that much before the perk update... so IMO they could've placed the Incapacitated back to 16 seconds then see if that effected the gameplay... then either get rid of it or lessen it even more

without the incapacitated effect nothing stop survivors getting the gen done,incapacitated effect should of stay but was shorten.

I don't understand why they had to go so extreme with the nerf in the first place. They could've kept it as it was but just applied the incapacitated effect to gens only. That way survivors could still mend/heal/do totems or whatever. But not rush gens.

Idk why you're celebrating. If the gen is about to pop with 2 survivors on, 10% is nothing, 3-4 seconds delay. The incap was the thing and its gone. But I guess...keep kicking gens 😂

yea was just thinking this incapacitated effect( gens only) meaning you and mend/heal/do totems/ and unlock chest you know all survivors 2nd objective.
because we know survivors need a 2nd objective.

Because ruin got nerfed, overcharge got buffed to increase to 200% regression, Eruption got 9s of extra incapacitation AND an increase to 10% regression. Combine that with the 2.5% base regression on kick and a 10% faster base kit gen kick speed.
So not only was passive regression nerfed, kicking gens suddenly much more appealing with buffs in a number of areas. And all of the gen kick perks stack, so there's no reason not to just run all of them.

That's actually great. The thing I hated most was the incapacitated. It will still be a decent perk but won't be busted.

The only people the devs listened to are the survivors. Eruption is still going to be useless, and killers would be better off going back to pain res.

Because the Incapacitated is practically unavoidable unless you're using voice comms with a SWF group, not being able to do anything for 25 seconds is really obnoxious, the aura reading is much more fair then 25 seconds of Incapacitated IMO

It's because it's there were stronger perks (Ruin, Undying)... so if they didn't touch Eruption what would happen

Eruption was meant to stop survs from doing gens, so incapacitated is too much. But blocking the gen is perfect. DMS work in another way, in fact you use DMS with pain resonance because you pop the gen with pain resonance and the gen is blocked. Eruption will be useless after the nerf because it doesn't block gens, if it blocked gens it would be literally perfect

Not expecting much from this perk anymore. 10% is laughably small and easily recovered if someone is one the gen.

The 3 gen thing was enabled entirely by the incap effect. 10% regression is nothing compared to not being able to do anything at all for half a minute. You can do gens through 10%.
Also sick of seeing this regression/progression garbage. These are not two sides of the same coin. If survivors split up with zero gen perks against a B tier and below killer they're likely going to win. But if that killer doesn't bring any regression they're in for a very very difficult match. It's the only way they can keep up enough pressure to threaten survivors. But nuance is too much to expect the general public to understand.
