ETA on Blight “Hug Tech”?
Is there any way we could get a potential update on when Blight is going to have his exploit removed? I know it isn’t probably on the top of the priorities, but having an update that the team knows this is something that should be resolved is reassuring that it will be getting fixed so he won’t slide off every single obstacle in the game by just angling your camera at the floor
And before people come in here saying “get good” or “it’s skillful” or “it’s fun” just remember that one of the moderators stated it is an exploit and by saying that it’s skillful or fun, you are condoning an exploit just for your own enjoyment in a video game. And yes, it is an exploit, it’s using an unintended mechanic to gain an advantage by literally breaking how the character is played.

At this point I’ve learned how to counter it but it’s still an exploit and should get removed.
9 -
Even with this 'tech' I feel he's still kind of weak. Likely why its not a priority. This 'tech' is the only thing keeping him afloat as a useable killer. Not saying it should be removed or not, just saying lol.
2 -
„Blight is weak“ ^
11 -
Just experience man. Get your bandwagon together and lets do this I guess.

You do know Hug tech don't work on like 80% of these loops right..?
Only some loops are affected, half the collisions also don't work on certain spots / tiles,
Hug tech ain't a issue,
7 -
Whether it should be removed or not is pretty irrelevant since it’s a bug and the devs went on record to say they’ll fix it afaik
4 -
No idea, but like you said it's in the to-do list so don't worry, it'll happen 👍️
1 -
We've still been waiting for an ETA, for multiple years now, for BHVR to fix Blight's major collision issues that have been happening since they raised his camera view.
1 -
It’s not gonna get fixed until his collision issues get fixed that affect his performance. I wouldn’t count on it happening anytime soon. It’s been so long.
So I would suggest you learn the very easy counter to it.
I’m pretty sure survivors spin and moonwalk for their own enjoyment no? Yea we won’t talk about that. Only counts for blight players right?
9 -
Probably next mid chapter along with his broken addons.
2 -
Which addons are broken and how are they broken?
I haven't used them all yet.
All the ones I've tried out seem fine.
1 -
C33 and alch ring are the only ones that are a bit overtuned.
2 -
I'm honestly surprised BHVR hasn't removed his secondary collision detection.
No secondary collision = no object sliding = no hug tech = survivors can counter his power much easier. BHVR wouldn't need to rework Blight's code to actually fix his collision. They would just need to remove his secondary collision detection, that was created after Blight was released, to make survivors happy, at the low low cost of Blight's quality of life crashing into the ground.
3 -
Why is everyone always surprised BHVR didn't fix something, or broke something, or fixed stuff no one asked for, and not fix stuff nearly everyone is asking for? I know their primary focus is monetary gain, but they would literally get so many more people to start opening wallets if they listened to their community. Well, listen to us more closely, not like what they did with Eruption (althought I hate this perk as a survivor, killing it was disheartening.) and such.
If this DID get fixed, who's next on the block? Asking for a friend.
I vote Trapper1 -
The hug tech is easier to counter than strict bump logic. But survivors don’t wanna listen to that.
3 -
I've been using it recently and its simple, I can't blight without it.
0 -
Completely removing hug tech and object sliding, but not fixing Blight's bump hitbox, will hurt Blight a lot more than help him.
0 -
I would agree. That’s why they can’t fix one without fixing the other.
3 -
Hug tech should stay the way it is. Just nerf C33 and Alch Ring already, ffs.
5 -
But they don't need to fix it. We're in the middle of a "good things for survivors" marathon. BHVR could easily remove Blight's secondary collision detection to fix hug tech and overnerf him, and survivors would be happy. And Blight would feel miserable to play, which is exactly what BHVR did when they changed Nurse's chase music.
0 -
Well I can only hope they don’t do that then. It would be totally unnecessary.
1 -
Are you really comparing hug tech to 360s and moonwalking?
1 -
Applicable to the logic of the person I was responding to, absolutely.
4 -
Blight is one of the strongest killers in the game, and he would do just fine without the hug tech
2 -
It would take nearly no effort to remove, if it was going to happen soon it would have happened within the last year.
People tend to defend the hug tech because it's another form of skill expression and really fun to use while also being objectively weaker at most tiles in the game. The only truly strong thing about the hug tech is mitigating rushes mostly during map traversal. Mitigating rushes at tiles is weaker if bump logic is available. Things like adrenaline vial and maps like rotten fields do only work well with the hug tech though.
Also people really just say "but the devs said it's exploit" and nothing else then tell people not to debate about it lmao. So many bugs in video games become intended, look at things like old halo sword mechanics. Just because something isn't intended doesn't mean it needs to be removed.
3 -
I won't try to justify hug tech, but I will tell you why this Blight's collision system is so wonky.
Unlike most other collision systems in the game, Blight's velocity and camera are not parallel. You can go straight but look slightly to the right while still going straight. This becomes more pronounced if you use Adrenaline Vial where your turning is significantly reduced but you can still look around.
Why does this matter? In order to prevent you from bumping into things off-screen and help you fit into tight doorways, Blight's collision system is partially tied to his camera. Obviously, it's not entirely linked to his camera; if you look right when you're about to hit a pallet, you'll still hit the pallet. But if you look down while turning into a corner, you'll notice you can turn just a little bit more than you would otherwise.
Because of this disconnect between the velocity, the camera, and general object collisions, Blight becomes a slippery boy. How does this factor into hug tech at all? I'm not entirely sure but I estimate it's something like this: By looking down, you essentially trick the system into thinking there is no obstacle. Since you're hugging it, by the time your camera snaps up at the beginning of a rush, you're already ignoring the collision. Fixing this, while trying to preserve Blight's ability to manipulate his collision (which is intended to some extent) I imagine is pretty difficult.

Hug Tech happened, when BHVR tried to fix the M2 bug that happened when they released his secondary collision detection. Trying to "just remove hug tech" might just result in the M2 bug coming back, because the secondary collision detection still isn't working as intended, and is probably still full of bugs.
They should just remove the secondary collision detection, so they can successfully overnerf the top 3 killers. They gave Spirit directional audio, and gave Nurse super loud chase music.... why stop there? Just get rid of Blight's secondary collision detection so he can join in the nerf party.
1 -
Def not weak. Hug tech is more of a flashy move to do where bump logic will always prevail.
0 -
I'd rather not have PTB blight back no thank you.
0 -
most likely never. however i couldnt care less about hug tech, hug tech is fine is not even that strong it has counters, counter flick being one of them, the most typical is knowing how to place yourself in the loop, what is not fine are his dumb set of addons wich for whatever reason havent been touched yet.
0 -
Why would you wish that?
0 -
Remind me what the M2 bug is/was again? There are way too many bugs in this game's history to keep track.
0 -
Blight profile picture describes some of the most broken addons in the game as 'a bit overtuned' color me surprised lmfao
3 -
Yea of course they’re broken. Perhaps consider I was being sarcastic with my word choice. That would be crazy huh?
2 -
How are they broken?
I've seen C33 interacting with another addon to do something unintended.
As far as I can tell, the ring just does what it says.
What am I missing?
0 -
Yes, bhvr would never do that, as they never said they would fix slug audio and never delivered.
0 -
I can't wait until hug tech is removed and all the closet bump logic blights come out of the woodshed and start slapping survivors. Wonder what the complaint will be next?
0 -
They’re not ready for that. 😂
0 -
genuine question, what makes hug tech an exploit but something like cj/locker techs arent?
0 -
Number of tokens
0 -
Broken also mean OP in video games.
It's on a killer, everything that was unintended for survivors is fine though!
2 -
Because hug tech has been confirmed to be a bug since like august 2021 by McLean himself.
People who use it for advantage are exploiting a bug.
Which normally would result in a ban, since it is reportable offense.
2 -
Blight is universally considered the second strongest killer in the game, even without this exploit.

Lmao dude give it up. 😂 You’re reaching so far.

When the secondary collision detection was released, if Blight tried to start a rush, while up against a wall, and looking directly at the wall.... then the "high speed rush" animations would happen, but Blight would get stuck in place and not actually move anywhere. And when the rush finally timed out, he wouldn't be able to use his M2 power, and Blight would need to press M1 to "reset the bug" so he can use M2 again.
BHVR fixed this M2 bug by stopping Blight from getting stuck in place, and they stopped him from getting stuck in place by allowing him to slide instead. This would later be called hug tech.
And this is where things get complicated. BHVR intentionally added hug tech to the game in order to fix the M2 bug. But hug tech itself is considered unintended because BHVR doesn't want Blight to have it.

Blight players need to pick one....
1) Bump logic is the strongest thing Blight has, so "good players" wouldn't notice if hug tech was removed because he can still bump.
2) Removing the secondary collision detection would be a real nerf to Blight, because he actually does rely on object sliding, and it's massively disingenuous to say "bump logic" is the only important thing, when Blight also heavily relies on "slide logic" too.

I would absolutely miss the hug tech. It’s the most fun part of playing blight. Just because I’m a good blight doesn’t mean I wouldn’t miss the hug tech.

Yah, but in this case hyperbole makes it confusing.
Actually broken stuff is around. Blights hit box things really feel broken when trying to work out how to use them.
Not saying I want it fixed. After anyone Invested 1000+ hours in working with a broken thing, lynching would be justified if changed.
0 -
Nah, man. Not a troll. I know and understand his power in the game and how good he can be. I just haven't went against one of these super Blights.
Also, even without whatever this exploit is? Are you sure? I think people have said fixing it would really bring him down a peg or seven. I don't know. Unless he becomes a problem for me, I don't feel anything need be done with him lol.

If there are bugs in the game then yeah they should be fixed. If it's working as intended then that's that, however someone mentioned a developer stated this is indeed a bug.
This isn't some small indie company afaik, sorry, correct me if I'm wrong - it should be fixed by now if has been going on this long.
I also read about the killer twins being so bugged it's unplayable. Idk if that's true, but again, if so, then this stuff needs to be addressed.
