The new chapter is coming out in probably 15 hours and I don't feel hyped at all.
It's telling that the chapter is not exciting at all. The killer is boring and terribly weak, the perks are underwhelming (aside from Cut Loose) and the Red Forest update is purely visual while the map is still as big as before. While it's nice that they have given Shelter Woods (I'm a balanced enjoyer) a main building, it makes the map worse for many M1 killers (ironically this will hit the Skull Merchant the most) since the map is still as big as before. I jsut don't know what they wanted to achieve in this chapter but I feel like it didn't work out at all. After the Knight the Skull Merchant will be the next hated killer from both sides since the killer is weak and the main strat will be the boring hold the 3-gen from the start. The devs need to release a banger for the anniversary, otherwise it might die sooner than later. It cannot survive another bad chapter.

With eruption reworked, holding a 3 gen is a bit weaker on killers all around. And her exposed power at least incentives her to chase the survivor if she has a 3 gen unlike knight who will just leave a guard there then leave.
But im looking forward to this chapter. New perks, new powers, new ways to interact with each other during a match.

Agree that i dont really care about this chapter and the only way i see SM is 3gening.
Also even if next chapter is just what i want, im just tired for now so time to pass for a while.

It’s still very strong and viable with just Call of Brine, add in Overcharge and Nowhere To Hide and you can definitely still hardcore protect your 3 gens. The fact that they released another 3 gen based killer worries me that there’ll be even more complaints about the strat which means Call of Brine and possibly even Overcharge won’t be lasting too much longer.

Same. Not looking forward to it at all. No hype unfortunately.

I thought the same. I can see speed of regresing gens capped at 200% or something like that so perks dont stack.

Strong yes. But at that point the team needs to aggressively hit those gens and skill checks that cob+overcharge shouldnt even matter. You outta be hitting gens or getting chased. It was the incapacitation part that gave majority of 3 gen wins.
I cant tell you how many times ive lost in a 3 gen because i had to sit there for 25 seconds when a killer decides to chase and down someone when i was almost done with it. And im very aggressive with gens. Trust, with this eruption nerf. Sure, cob+overcharge will be more prominent, but you just gotta persevere the long game and the survivors can finish them.

I'm just gonna copy and paste a comment I made on Twitter about it because I'm lazy
I just don't see anything to be excited about, I don't like the new killer, I don't play survivor, I don't like the perks, the eruption nerf doesn't affect me (I don't use it), and the map changes don't seem to change much. I guess the new map looks okay though.

The best thing in this chapter are the two perk changes and the new Shelter Woods.

I feel the same way. Not going to play survivor for a while because it’s going to be match after match after match of the new killer. Lame

im pretty hyped, only because of the map reworks and haddie update lol

Yeah, not really hyped about it. I love the survivors, but I'm honestly really not interested in Skull Merchant.

The thing that annoys me about the Eruption change is how they essentially made that perk weak and for me that should not be the way to go. Yes the incapacitated needed to go. But why not give it another strong effect taht wouldn't be as oppressive as the incapacitated. Aura reading can be strong but keep in mind that it won't do anything in the case of Eruption. Because it proccs when you downed them so if you want to get any value from it you need to slug survivors. Maybe a 15 second repair speed penalty or the gen being blocked would have been the better solution making it not as oppressive as before while still being strong. If the devs want to avoid a stale meta they need to make more perks strong in order to give the meta more variety. But instead they decide to nuke perks that are being used too much and call it a day. IMO a cheap solution to a stale meta. If they want killers to not use gen kicking perks as much as they do right now how about buffing other perks? Revert Ruin to 200% (the deactivation condidtion can stay), buff hexes (blocking the totems at the start) and make Jolt work with special attacks (after all it rewards downing a survivor unlike CoB + Overcharge).

I thought maybe it could inflict Exhaustion for 15 seconds until they get off the gen.
Gives Survivors a choice to either get off the gen and let their Exhaustion go down or risk keeping it.
2 -
That might be an interesting concept.

I thought maybe it had potential.
Encourages the Killer to go to that gen and not hang around hook AND it gives Survivors a decent interaction choice.

Well at least we know the next rework good lord finally be the swamp.

They doubled the number of pallets on every map unless you break them right when they're dropped.
So nope, not looking forward to it. Especially not solo queue. Lots more lost matches because SWFs will be too busy trying to torture someone with their new toy.

The chapter is just meh to me but Haddie changes make me excited

Most interesting part of the update.

Wanna know what's the worst part about this release? The fact that we had to wait FOUR entire months for such a severe disappointment. I can understand weak killers being released but making us wait so damn long for them is even worse. This is also the 2nd killer in a row who's objectively a failure. If the anniversary chapter is yet another original chapter then they seriously can say goodbye to any income for the rest of the year.

There's a new chapter coming out in 15 hours?
