They said the most cruel things to my friend in chat and in my friend's steam profile to the point where he wanted to end his life. I don't know how people are like this but I know it's the internet and noone is feeling the repercussions from their actions but what they said is crossing beyond the line.

My friend didn't camp nor tunnel he always plays normally and he plays all types of killers like Knight, wesker, nemesis, any killer. Why does he deserve to be harassed and stalked by these people? For god sakes they were streaming it live on Twitch too and their followers kept spamming his steam profile with the most horrible things.

He now have to set his profile to private and I told him to hide the chat and press continue immediately. We can't have nice things apparently.

Unfortunately that can be the nature of multiplayer games. I've had players threaten to find me with my IP and kill me, and I've had endless post game chat comments saying horrible things. Report them and hope it works or hide the chat and make your profile private. If someone on twitch while live was telling their followers to harass a person, that can be reported through twitch as well. This will happen regardless of role or game when it comes to online games.

It's not always fair or pleasant, but if these types of comments bring your friend down, they need to limit their exposure to them. Whether that's muting the chats and privating their profile or not playing, these options exist. Even if you want to keep your profle public for other games, you can enable anyonymous mode from the setting to prevent people from accessing your account through DBD as well.

He doesn't deserve it (even if he DID play Quote Unquote Scummy) and it's unfortunate there are too many people that either don't understand the effect their words can have on people or even worse, don't care.

I can confirm players can and do get banned from end game chat abuse as it happened to me long ago when I said some brutal things myself.

But I cleaned up my act and best of luck to you 👍

If this is true, your friend needs help. Someone they can talk to at a minimum, preferably a professional therapist that they get along well with and feel comfortable with. There are also online resources (at least in the US) for suicide prevention, including suicide ideation.

If this isn't true, then as someone who struggles with a lifetime of extreme chronic depression: ######### you.

The issue is that most horrible things said in endgame chat are fine according to BHVR. If it isn't a slur or real life threats then they don't care, and consider it 'typical online banter'. It's truly disgusting.

Sorry to hear your friend was so badly affected. People online can be absolute #########.

Best advice to them is to simply mute the chats so they don't get exposed to it. But if it's truly making them cosider harming or killing themselves then that's not just the videogame. They should find the proper help that they need, and I hope they do.

If that's the case, your friend needs to seek assistance from a healthcare professional to avoid self harm. This is a serious issue that shouldn't be exploited for us-vs-them drama.
