lets discuss where do players go to improve and learn new builds/techs?
just wanted to get some info from the community for the whole player base. i know there are forums and twitch players but i dont frequent them enough to share my knowledge. Youtube on the other hand ^_^
the most well known streamers (otz, tru3, dowsey, scott jund, potatolegion, ohtofu, jrm) are common knowledge but are there any that are not as well known (and entertaining if at all possible?)
i discovered king wolfe 2 looking for trapper builds and he is like a new age monto (funny and you learn from seeing him play).
twoknee is another creator who plays a variety of killers is super optimistic and entertaining.
any that you want to share and spread the wealth of knowledge(from any medium)?

For killers, I tend to look for smaller streamers who specialize in that killer. For example, I didn't know Wesker was capable of half the things he can do until I found Alranican and ScooteyBootey. Most of the larger content creators are generalists.
Survivor is a bit tougher. I don't really look to Twitch or youtube for that one. 99.999999% of people who stream survivor gameplay aren't looking to be optimal in chase or objectives, so it doesn't really help my playstyle.

We tend to throw ourselves onto the fire to see what we can and can't do. It gives practical experience even if it results in a few losses and we become a good and crispy killer. We did this for survivor too but that was a long time ago.
I personally watch Ohm just for fun. Not amazing but often entertaining.

You wanna learn blight, go watch Lilith Omen and ask questions about anything Blight. He’s stopped mid game during winstreaks to show people different techs and knowledge.

I'd add more:
Naymetti - great survivor looper, explains his every move and decision, very chill.
RedsGamingGears - killer that always explain tactic and decision making, very helpful
Greyletters - chill funny dude, nothing educational though
SAOGonza - chill Artist main
Negoose - chill Plague/Hag main
One Pump Willie - well, you know which main he is :)
Michi - super skilled Hag main, extremely educational for Hag enjoyers
Snorlaxt / LittleSpaceRock - chill cute girls, former one can be educational
About ones mentioned before:
Truetalent complains a lot. I cannot stand the grown up man constantly complainng like snotty 10 yo kid. He is nostopping about unfair life for killer.
Scott Jund is a funny little guy, but definetely not the greatest player, could be watched just for fun, definetely not taking for granted all his "know-it-all" "podcasts", or you'll be haunted by "disgusting Hag music" or "terrible Knight design".
King Wolfie 2 - not chill, angry (trying to appear) and camp/tunnel a lot.

I open DbDLeague Discord and head over to the balance sections. Look at what is banned and ask myself why. If there's something that can be exploited, comp players will find it.

Was mentioned before but want to put the spotlight on RedsGamingGears again
Superchill dude that will happily explain things. Also someone who doesn't fall easilly to the mob mentality that kinda plagues the dbd community.
Imo one of the better content creators out there
Also small shoutout to Bazazell. Haven't watched a ton but so far he's also a very chill dude that isn't afraid to explain his thought process. Also very creative with his builds

thanks for the input always looking to improve my wesker play
yeah looping survivor mains are more difficult to find usually jrm or aryun are brought up

thank you...seeing some of his blight tech angles to hit are insane (like watching a pro pool player use that geometry knowledge haha)
1 -
Yea, a lot of my stupid crazy technical hits, I’ve learned from watching him. He’s studied all the maps and knows where you can pull off the fun stuff

RedsGamingGears seems pretty chill and informative been liking his humor
michi is fun...we need more hag players
negoose is one i am especially interested in since it is a plague player
the others i will give a sample...much appreciated
forgot to add deadplays for an entertaining watch
kingwolfe 2 plays it up for entertainment value he says so as much on his knight winstreak videos which is kind of what monto does which is where the comparisions came in.

totally agree with redsgaminggears
bazazell havent seen yet...any killer he specializes in or survivor builds?

thanks for the link always appreciate another place to look for ideas

a lot of these things are just banned because they force boring playstyles, other things (for survivors) are banned because they can get abused in a team to get points, which doesn't matter if you just play solo or with a friend.

He mostly plays m1 killers
The interresting thing so far is his builds as he finds neat interactions
For example he used game afoot and stbfl together in a hit and run playstyle to switch the obsession around so he didn't have to ignore a single survivor
Or recently used Zanshin Tacktics on SM to quickly recognise powerfull loops and shut them down early with drones
Also just pretty good at the m1 game in general, it's pretty neat to see lesser perks or quirky combos in action

That's why I stated that I look at what's banned and ask myself WHY. The answer to the latter is just as important as the former.

Willie now appears to main Skully as well. Cool to see him play her aggressively and not just kick gens.

will give him a look as i thought he only played one specific killer haha

He did. Now he plays 2!

I have watched a stupid amount of lilith and when I watch him go for max range 90's I am still impressed in the confidence behind them. Too many times I find myself thinking I would have bumped again and knowing I may not have got the hit because of the safety in my own plays.

haha awesome

lilith makes some insane angles work to get hits...learned quite a bit seeing these videos

I started just going for those same hits rather than using another rush. If I miss, I miss. But I’ve been hitting almost everything.

tatariu is a pretty chill killer main (mostly a legion player) as well as plays other games like darkest dungeon and the dead space remake

You mostly just learn the same way it all was discovered. By playing the game and trying things out.

I just really want a practice mode to be added more than anything so I can experiment with perks against bots. As much as I appreciate tips form streamers and you-tubers, all it ends up making me do is working towards whatever build they have and I never learn the killer from the ground up. I have few good games because I focus on the specifics of the build, then I run into something that the build isn't prepared for and I get frustrated and want to move on.
I think its better to have a place for some suggestion and tips and tricks for how to GENERALLY build and play, but just copying builds to me feels like net decking a competitive magic deck. Sure the deck can win, but it doesn't make you a better magic player.

the builds/suggestions help to steer you the right way as you learn the killer through experience
