Is anyone gonna play DBD when this update comes to live server?

I don't feel any particularly strong reason to play more or less than before.

My big beef with the incoming update is that the devs have not shown they know their own game very well. There are still many interrogation marks remaining the status of healing perks, like these...

    • How you gonna use Botany Knowledge if medkits all have enough charges?
    • Is it really gonna take 24 seconds to recover from the dying state, thus facilitating slugging and making recovery from slugging harder?
    • Medkits are really boring as hell now, do they? They all have same amount of charges, with only progressively increasing heal bonuses. Finding a purple medkit in a trial was great because of its high charges amount and fast healing speed, now it barely beats the brown medkit in efficiency.
    • Self Care is dead. If it's gonna take over a full minute to heal, go work on a generator instead.
    • You guys remember Mangled is a status effect that exists, correct? Because these new heal times sure would make one believe they forgot. Killers ran Sloppy Butcher before because it offered some slowdown to get the edge as killer, but having one update suddenly make heals 10 seconds longer will just make every killer equip SB because it'll be an obvious perk to pick for an easy game.

The aim of the update is to break the stale 3-gen meta and while it likely will succeed in that regard, I feel like the devs changed numbers around without taking the time to see if everything make sense in the big picture. The PTB showed an alarmingly high amount of oversights that lead me to think the people at the helm of the ship don't know what they're doing and it's very worrying. Instead of fixing all of these oversights, they decided to further nerf a killer that didn't need nerfs (Billy) and adjust random perks and addons just because they had a low pick rate in ways that will likely not change anything. Overzealous is the one change I like, the rest is just meh or garbage. Call of Brine is no longer worth using in any way with such a minuscule gen regression, just use Surveillance instead. Overcharge change is okay, but I fail to see why they lowered the penalty for missing the skill check. Pain Resonance didn't need any changes except maybe to the numbers, the perk was fine as is.

All I want is actual evidence the developers do play their own game because right now, I ain't seeing it.

With addons, which people currently do in the game as is.

Is it really gonna take 24 seconds to recover from the dying state, thus facilitating slugging and making recovery from slugging harder?

Quite a bit longer than that.

Medkits are really boring as hell now, do they?

I think the medkit change is good, or at least in the right direction. Purples + addons are crazy powerful.

But they do need quite a bit more variety.

Self Care is dead. If it's gonna take over a full minute to heal, go work on a generator instead.

It's been dead for awhile, it's now buried under a mountain.

    bedis

    • additional billy nerf as mentioned in this thread
    • increased recovery time from the ground
    • increased healing others on the ground
    • syringe time nerf
    • kinship not longer works on cages
    • deadhard additional nerf from the first text to the current

thats all very impactful things, at least for the players.

Those are not changes made from Dev Update to Patch notes, the Dev update is an overview of the changes - it does not list all the changes, it's more of a highlight. This is why we're always very adamant in telling our players to test all the changes and why we put out patch notes with the information included.

Why release them at all then and just do it when the patch is live to keep the confusion and expectations down.

The way its worded and conveyed between Devs and players isn't great

A lot of us are not Devs and don't speak Dev . We can't read yalls mind to figure out what you meant

Basekit unbreakable won’t do jack against the recovery healing nerf. Unless you have a killer that’s gonna leave every slugged survivor on the ground for 2-3 minutes, perks like unbreakable, no mither, flip flop, power struggle etc are gonna be dead.

I'm pretty sure there will be changes from the PTB to Live version based on a lot of the feedback that I'm seeing, it's too early to discuss what those will be though.

This about Dead Hard? Let is become niche. Cool it. Circle of Healing change is good too and makes sense, it's what the perk should have been from the beginning, and they should have done it far, far sooner.

As for the healing changes, it will make the game straight up unenjoyable for mid to low level players, and I think we will see a quite sharp decline in players. I'm not worried, but a little baffled that they're gonna let it go through.

What I am very curious about though is how is the high level meta gonna look now? No more greeding loops forever into Dead Hard every chase, plus healing nerfs. I'm calling Adrenaline + Resilience + Medkit with 48 charges to become extremely meta, used by almost single survivor, every game. Plus lots of Lithe and Sprint Burst. Slam gens while injured, heal up with Adrenaline lategame.

I'm looking forward to the Meta of Prove thyself, Hatties perk, Resilience, hypefocus with evereyone bringing bnp toolboxes and watching 3 gens pop in the first minute of the game.

I love the update tbh. What I would suggest tho is lower the healing time from 24 to 20 secs but make self healing 40 seconds. Also call of brine is useless now be better if overcharge got a rework and COB got reverted to keep the regression but maybe have a 60 second cool-down so it can only be on one gen at a time and not spammed, I would also remove the info part of it.

I'll play more. Finally something that shifts the game slightly back towards balance and away from being so survivor sided. Well done devs.

If they don't keep altruistic healing at 16s I will probably stop playing survivor. If they nerf Engravings I will stop playing Billy until they give him an add-on pass.

Everything else I can adapt to.
