Steam charts will show if people really will quit after healing nerf
A lot of people are saying they will quit once the healing nerf comes. Just check the steam charts 2 months after these healing nerfs come out. If the numbers significantly dip then I guess the complainers were right. If not everyone was just threatening to quit like usual. We will see.

Did you even read my post? What about it is doom and gloom? I said the steam charts will show if people will quit or not. I didnt say all people were quitting. In fact the point of my post was to show there is a way to prove that people DIDNT quit

While i´m not saying that DbD will die, there is a high chance the playerbase will drop in the next 2 months anyway. But that would be because of something that has nothing to do with DbD.
Next week is the release of Meet your Maker, in a month is the release of Age of Wonders 4 and in 2 months will be the release of Diablo 4. So there might be a visible decline in the DbD playerbase, but not because of the changes.
Sure, those games might not be everyones cup of tea, but there is a chance that at least one of those games will draw in heavy attention playerwise.

It still is kinda niche. But at least for me its the release i´ve been waiting for since its announcement.
Diablo would be the high profile release.

Is there really that much anticipation for MYM?
I know deathruns gained popularity when Fortnite introduced Creative, but that was only because content creators were putting up stupid amounts of prize money.
The genre is otherwise underappreciated by all but speedrunners, because the average gamer doesn't have the patience to grind the same level over and over.
If MYM pops off, I'd imagine it's a sleeper hit that takes a full year to attract a wider audience.

Steam charts yeah, because people only play the game on steam... PS, Epic, Xbox, Switch don't exist I guess lol. I don't get the obsession with people expecting or wanting to see player numbers drop. It's so weird, can we all not just play the game and enjoy it. If it happens, it happens.

When people say they're gonna quit if X happens you've gotta take it with a big grain of salt because they're usually lying. When BHVR adds bad changes people whine but still play and still pay money for Feng skins.

I rest my case, doom and gloom. We should be ENCOURAGING them to try new stuff and not be scared of it, otherwise we get stuck with a game that hasn't changed in years. The fact that they are finally doing these meta shakeups and trying new stuff is GREAT, and we need more of it not less.

The game population is pretty stagnant, we're at where we were 3 years ago. Despite the improvements to the tutorial and some of the things for new players, there is still the glaring matchmaking issue which has deteriorated imo. The rank system was by no means perfect and had significant gaps between rank 1-2 players however the current random MMR has a tendency to chuck 2 noobs with 2 decent survivors against a noob or decent killer. The games feel more like stomps on either side now.

Honestly, i think that the meta shake up is a good thing and if its really every 3 months, then it would be the best thing for dbd in a long time. As long as they are open to reasonable feedback, there shouldn´t be a problem.
The survivor meta has been stale for years and urgently needs to change. I would have approached it by buffing the lesser used perks, instead of what is comming now. But hey, we´ll see how it works out. If killers go full healing slowdown and people SC for 6 minutes in the corner of the map, then maybe survivors should change their playstyle and play more altruistically instead of just healing themselves.
If everything fails, the devs can always nerf/buff perks accordingly. This update won´t be the end.

We´ll see. The Beta looked interesting. There was a certain victory feeling, when i logged in and saw how many people died in my dungeon. Thats definetly fun.
But i don´t know how the community will treat itself. As there have been complaints of death traps that are simply not fun to play. If the devs find a way to balance this out, then it might be a success.

We got a completely different survivor meta in 6.1, less than a year ago.

People tend to exaggerate a lot. They will still be playing. The only small drop off would probably be more related to some other game releases popping up soon.

Those lopsided matchmaking issues stem from us lobby dodging, resulting in backfilling with only queue times in mind.

SC and DH have been meta for years and still are. So i´m not sure whats completely different now. Sure, in some regions SC was replaced with CoH, but that has also been meta since release...

Problem is which WHAT queues taking longer, there is no time where BOTH queues takes long.
