When will BHVR actually listen to their community
People pay and play this game for years and what do i feel like i got? Recycled, Recycle, Recycle.
When are they gonna implement changes that the players who pay and play actually would enjoy?
New Trials? More Maps? Different Objectives. More Perks.
I'm starting to think it's gonna be milked till it's done and then the devs will move on. They give us little top no information and act baffled on live streams when questions about new game modes and content get asked. It's been years can we finally get a useful voting pole for starts?
FB post by them on the community votes, (No really you asked for it) NO we did not, you just gave us 3 only options. I think it's because they know already what the community wants to improve the game, the silence i don't get

I mean. They have to put so much time into making new chapters to keep making money.
We won't get any big meaningful changes because they don't have the breathing space.

Idk man, the devs can't just do the things we ask for. There's a process for everything. U gotta think about the economic and production standpoint. This takes a long time. I'm not being a butt kisser towards the devs, but they do a pretty good job at keeping people entertained. People ask for extra game modes and such, we don't get them, and yet millions of people still play the game. Be in the devs shoes right now, on a business standpoint.
Millions of people play your game and buy your new chapters. You don't add in new game modes and people still play your game, still making $$$. So then what's the point of producing free new game modes that will surely take a lot of time and money, plus increase the size of the game, and probably break alot of mechanics, set back mmr making matchmaking horrendous, and add way more glitches and problems. Why do that when you can avoid it and still make just as much money.

The thing I don't get about posts like this is, what about all the stuff they've been doing recently that was explicitly asked for by the community?
The big meta shakeup patch, the solo queue improvements, the Eruption nerf, things like that. Those are things the community asked for, and BHVR have done them. It seems clear to me that they do listen, and not only do they listen, they also take the extra step of acting on that information a lot of the time. You could make the argument they do it slowly, and I'd agree with that argument, but you can't make the argument that they don't do it at all.
Side note, we got a new map last chapter, and updates to three maps in this upcoming chapter that make them functionally new. Not sure why that's on your list there, same as more perks, we've obviously been getting them.

I mean… I’m not a fan of the new chapter coming, but to say they haven’t made any changes that are in tune with what the community wanted is ignorant. They have been making a TON of good changes that were asked for.

So you're good with going stagnant with gameplay as long as they continue to cash cow the game? why not evolve it? that part of the whole point of a "developer"
0 -
i disagree it's mainly in survivors favor
2 -
I'm sure they do listen to their community. But they can't just go off the opinions of forum users alone. We're a very and I mean very small fraction of the entire playerbase among all platforms.
7 -
They make changes based on feedback. They nerf killers and their perks quite often. They don't have much time for new game modes when they're testing out all the nerfs that get asked for.
/sarcasm

I wish more would take this to heart. As far as I can tell most of the posters here are veteran players, majority of which play primarily killer and on PC. This is a very specific portion of the overall playerbase, when the devs have to take into consideration all players of all skill levels, and like 7 or 8 different platforms, all with their own point of views & concerns.
7 -
This is very surface level critique, what is recycled?
The New Map? Come on we all knew that map needed something.
2 -
Yep, this. They’re not going to invest a bunch of resources into things that don’t bring any additional financial return (or prevent the loss of revenue by maintaining the player base). So it’s understandable that the devs won’t just implement whatever the community are asking for.
I think what is less understandable is that the devs often seem to make changes that nobody asks for. Also, when they do address issues that are top issues from the community, they get options A, B and C from the community that are all really good ideas and they implement D instead which is the worst of them all.
1 -
what? they just gave us what we asked for for many years:
"another resident evil chapter"
"maps rework" (especially RPD and the artist one)
"no more repeated maps"
"perk overhaul"
"eruption nerf"
"hud icons"
"general nerfs and buffs we've been asking for" (flashlights, hook distance, placement and quantity, healing meta and etc...)
What do you mean "they don't listen to us" ????

I love DBD, but I'm tired too of the stale meta. Even still, they've made lots of improvements in the past few years, most already mentioned by others in this thread.
The solution to being tired of the game isn't to act ungrateful. It's to leave the game behind and peek your head back in when updates drop to see if the game is any better. Nothing good comes from antagonizing the devs.
Vote with your playtime and your wallet.

Chapters aside and map changes, the gameplay has been the exact same almost since 2016.

Recycled gameplay camoflauged by chapters and cosmetics. Which are FINE but its at that point where its getting old and the game itself needs a update along with adding more killers and such, i don't see what the big deal of asking for different objectives is, different trials? It would work the same way and wouldn't be much different

The fact that the model has been working for so long and remained popular indicates otherwise. Nothing wrong if you are bored with the game, everything gets boring over time, that's inevitable.
New Trials? More Maps? Different Objectives. More Perks.
New Trials: I'd jump at the idea of trying a new type of trial, but I understand why it probably won't/can't happen. Asymmetrical games are a balance nightmare between a wide variety of killers, perks, items, maps, etc. Balancing for a different type of trial on top of the already existing difficulties would be a massive challenge.
This isn't even factoring in what the underlying engine is capable of.
More maps: Again I wouldn't object to more maps, but we seem to have a lot already. How frequently do you think they need to be adding maps?
Different Objectives: Conceptually I think this is a good idea, but pretty much any suggestion comes with the potential for massive problems.
More Perks: This one I flat out disagree with. We have a mountain of perks on both sides and only get to use four.
I'm starting to think it's gonna be milked till it's done and then the devs will move on.
That's kind of how games work. As long as people continue to play the game (financially profitable), they'll continue to invest resources into it. Eventually we, and they, will move on. Nothing lasts forever and DbD has already massively exceeded many games life spans and is still extremely popular.

It's human nature, and I feel many in the Dead by Daylight community are the worst for it, that we allow the negative to overshadow the bad. BHVR could do ten awesome things, but the second they do something seen as bad, well... That's all that matters. BHVR is bad according to the vocal parts of the community.
Honestly, it's the same as other media. In movies it's said that an actor/director is only as good as their last movie.

Why?
0 -
Why? because i want the game to evolve and have some more excitement with trials, instead of expecting the same thing over and over.
0 -
You got breakable walls. OOOOoooooOOOOooooo

After how long though??? that's important, it takes wayy too long and wayy to many people to vocalize to the devs about changes the community wants and takes them wayy to long to make changes themselves. The whole waiting half a chapter which is like what a month and a half? for balance fixes is ridiculous. No other game i play waits this long to balance out stuff
When it comes to the 3 new map changes and more perks and such, of course, i love that! i always love new chapters. I want something added where i don't expect the same thing over and over again. If there was one other type of trial with different objectives to power gates or whatever, it would be endless fun for me personally. I've played this mode since 2016 and am still here because of my love for Horror/Horror Icons

But they didn't do what I wanted them to do so, none of that matters.
(Note, I don't actually think this, but I honestly feel a lot of not just players of this game, but gamers in general have this attitude. I see it in other games too. One game did a poll of what new content players wanted most. To generic tone it down, lets say there was add cats, add dogs, or add hamsters. The cats won by a landslide, they said they'd be working on them first. Suddenly, the forums were flooded with posts of "Nobody asked for cats! Nobody likes cats! Why don't you ever listen to your players?" mostly people who wanted hamsters. Nevermind that six months later they added dogs and six months later hamsters. Until the hamsters got added the forums were flooded with "Nobody wants cats" posts.)

I can promise you at the level you play it, its way more balanced than you think

Because its a unique formula that has clearly worked. BHVR at the end of the day is a business, and a business is there to make money. Spending time and resources to work on something that may be a flop when they could of just spent those resources improving on what they have is the route their choosing, and there isn't anything wrong with that

Don't sit here and white collar defend a company that doesn't even know you, why are you even defending a stagnant gameplay feature instead of expanding on what we have? I don't take you seriously either lol yall can run in circles over and over and be satisfied on a diff post but i want to expand the game
0 -
Im not defending them, I'm giving you a reason.
I would love to see another gamemode myself, but with my time playing this game and just my experience with life, I've found that its better to have realistic expectations
1 -
Realistic expectations would be a Dev being able to expand the game they already created themselves
0 -
Maybe even more so because the arsenals survivor has never gets looked at but they can just point to a killer and a perk and it gets nerfed

I've been playing for a few years now and almost every change I've wanted them to implement has been implemented. Maybe they haven't made changes that you, specifically, want, but that doesn't mean they don't "listen to the community". It sounds like you are bored of playing DBD and should just play another game, instead of wishing that DBD WAS another game.

Which is exactly what they're doing, just not in the way you want it

Millions is pushing it bud.

I'm not sure how you define player, but if you think it is someone who plays at least once a month, across all regions and consoles it might not be a crazy estimate (though my gut feeling is also that it is high). There are lots of players out there who aren't playing every day. Also not sure if you count the mobile version as adding to the player count.

Considering how bad the newest maps and map reworks have been, I’m glad we haven’t gotten any new ones in awhile.
1 -
The last thing this game needs is new perks. We need to delete like 6 pages worth of perks and focus on fixing the ones actually worth using.
1 -
People really underestimate how big the playerbase is huh?
Last year they made a anouncement they reached 50 million players
It would not be a crazy estimate to say we have 5-10 million active players. and that was last year
0 -
Yeah but how much of that is separated by platforms?
0 -
Out of curiosity, if you could instantly implement any 3 changes to the game, what would you do?
0 -
Does that matter? I know they are being ignored a lot but console players are players too
0 -
what makes you think console hasn't been looked at lol
0 -
I don't play on console so i don't follow it exactly but i'm pretty sure the performance of consoles hasn't been the best to say the least.
wasen't there a monster post of 1000+ comments about how performance of console was terrible and no changes where happening despite being announcent to be looked at?
again though don't see how that affects the number of players we have. You're kinda jumping around a lot

People been fine i thought, the pool has SWITCH players
