I seriously don't get the point of torment anymore
Isn't torment mainly usually to just cage survivors they don't get DS and as far as I know no speed boost or endurance plus it's useful because you down cage no carrying no worrying about flashlights nothing. If I went down as a survivor I would actually be happy if Pyramid head caged me because it makes sense to do so.

yeah tbh, the only reason I can see you using the cage is if there’s no way to avoid the flashlight saves, or you just need to hurry and hook (like a gen is about to be done)

Hooking is the least efficient thing a killer does. You take yourself out of play for as long as it takes you to hook someone. It's always better to cage someone unless you absolutely need to control the hook location. No BT/OTR/DS and you save at least 10 seconds for every cage.

But you also risk losing all the pressure a hook can give given the cage can spawn right next to a teamate.

If you play ph you instantly know where the cage is. I'm a main pyramid head and also if I don't see the cage, I already know where it is.
There is a possibility that it spawn next to a surv, but hey you save a lot of time also if it spawn next to a surv because you don't need to find an hook, you aren't vulnerable to bodyblock, you're invulnerable to flashlight saves/pallet saves and you don't have to worry about sabo squads.

I'm a main pyramid head, trust me the cage is useful.
First you don't have to worry about flashlight saves, pallet saves, sabo squad and you save lots of times because you instantly teleport survs on the hook.
Second, if you have experience with pyramid head, you already know where the cage spawns even if you don't see it, I always know (or anyway 99% of the time)
Third, you invalidate their perks, and that's only fair because it's survs fault if they step on torment, because they can crouch to avoid it.
Pyramid head is one of the most balanced killers in the game, play it more and you will see all his potential.

Torment is a mechanic that is 100% in the hands of the survivors. PH has zero control over who gets it and cannot do anything to assure any survivor will get the thing going. The only thing it does is to unlock caging, which has the dubious distinction of enabling cages, which is the most over-hyped mechanic in the game.
Cages do a thing. They're nowhere near as powerful as people would have you believe, but everyone treats them as some kind of super power that unlocks a whole special element of gameplay (despite the fact that PH has no ability to put torment on anybody without their consent, because you can just creep-walk the .05 seconds through the trails).
PH has no good addons, is the tallest killer, has the second loudest sound profile, and the single most telegraphed "ranged" attack in the game. He's way, WAY worse than people pretend he is. The guy's B- as best, but people pretend he's A+ if not S.
And it's ALL because 'CaGeS iGnOrE sUrViVoR pErKs.'

The real benifit of cages is the time you saved. Hooking is one of the most time innefficient things you can do in this game.
3 second pick up time, 1-16 seconds of walking and 2 seconds of hooking
That's 6-21 seconds you aren't pressuring the survivors, if all are on sepperate gens that's 4-14% of total survivor gen progress you gave away.
Same reason slugging for pressure is a underrated strategy

The only change PH needs is for punishment of the damned needs to inflict torment. It blows my mind that it still doesn’t

Cages are ok but it's a pretty big macro choice to make use of them or not. Many times giving up the map control of an area for a free save isn't worth the handful of seconds you save between pick up + walk + hook. Am I saying they're worthless? Not at all, but I do think if you cage every single time the option comes up you are hurting yourself in some games
