Has Spirit Gone Extinct? :(
I haven't faced her in almost two months! I miss her so much. :(
I fear that she may have gone extinct. My girl needs to be played more, I can't be the only one!

Either people didn't want to play her since she was bugged for survivors and they felt bad (I was one of them) or they can't play her because of certain camera angles when you spawn in and they get weird feelings about it 🤨

I remember you! How have you been? Also, I have been focusing on my studies in college instead of putting my time into DBD for a while, I play every now and then before, but now I'm on Spring Break so I have a ton of free time to play.
It saddens me others haven't spotted her either. :(

Her bug is the audio of her phasewalking. It's supposed to be directional but it's currently not. That's it.

I was very surprised when I noticed not many people were playing her post rework, I loved the new Spirit and thought she was also fairly easy for her strength.

We had a boom of Spirits when she was bugged, now we have a boom of Doctors while Merciless is bugged. At least that's how it is for me.

Btw, spirit is no longer bugged since the latest patches, you can play her without worry about anything!

I stopped playing her awhile ago. I agree her fake out needed fixed but giving her both directional audii and distance audio was a bit too much imo.
They should of given her one but not the other because with both Survivors know exactly where she is coming from and how close she is to getting you. I have not been hit once by the reworked Spirit which is sad to be honest.

And considering how these forums harked the nerf to make the audio directional as the end of Spirit forever, it being gone is a slight inconvenience

There's no depth to her power. It's just can you move faster than they can react, that's it. Pretty shallow now.

That's why many use the MDR/DCB combo now. A survivor with any sense can react to her now.

Yeah. I personally don't use DCB as I hate its design and it takes all the skill out of playing her, but MDR to me is totally fair game. I don't mind facing it as survivor either for that matter. I kind of view it as just bumping her up to the power level she was supposed to be.

I see DCB as a accessibility addon for those that are hard of hearing tbh. I only use the combo if I have it and I'm wanting to let off steam....

Probably not the main reason since Fathers Glasses was a better tracking addon but that maybe why it's not being addressed.

I made a video about this a long time ago that getting rid of her standstill is a indirect nerf to her. It needed to go but any indicator that she's phasing ultimately butchers her kit.

Former Rin Yamaoka main her.
I gave her up mainly because
1. Her counterplay is way too easy
2. Horrible add-ons and she's too add-on dependant.
What made her kit unique was taken away from her and she's not even fun to use anymore.

weird how a killer gets majorly nerfed and then that killer stops being played, leading to much less variety and more stagnant gameplay, hopefully there’s some kind of lesson we can learn from this

I think the directional sound and intensity is what killed the spirit. She is now too easy to be stunned out of her power by a pallet on top of that she moves at 4.4m/s. Not good.
Her add-ons in the past were too strong I agree with that but changing her base kit was an overkill.
Now her power is useless as well as her add ons.

Or Hillbilly getting nerfed.
Or Nightmare getting nerfed.
Or Pig getting nerfed.
Or Demogorgon getting removed.
Or Deathslinger getting nerfed.
Or Twins getting nerfed.
Or Pinhead's addons getting nerfed.
Or 7 of the last 9 killers getting released hilariously weak, bugged, or both, with no particular urgency to fix anything.
Actually, I'm not sure the lesson CAN be learned.

She’s not what she used to be, but she’s still better than Nemisis at least. I never maimed her because I used to think she was to easy to win with, but played her more over time and after several nerfs + rework of add ons. She’s surely dependent on add ons, and being 110 sucks

I feel like I see spirit a good bit honestly. I havent seen much twins, demogorgon, or hillbilly though

Balanced or not, she is much weaker since her nerfs. That's one of the reasons why people stopped playing her. Without top tier add-ons, she just isn't as strong as she used to be.

I'm still getting Spirit every now and then, but Wesker is starting to get annoying now. Easily the killer I face the most right now. And every one of them seems to proxy camp every hook and hard tunnell at 5 gens. But that's a different story for a different day!

Yeah spirit is one of the rarer killers nowdays. Wesker, blight and nurse is the most common for me.

I don't play Spirit because
- winning as her feels so free (with good headphones her ability is so overpowered)
- I know that Survivors don't like to play against her (me neither).

Spirit is still one of the strongest killers in the game and can still absolutely dominate, especially if you use some of her really good addons.
I'm still baffled why she isn't played more. Her nerfs were always gonna drive some people away since you do actually have to play well with her now but she's still easier than Nurse and Blight while being 'almost' as strong as them.

The problem is this community uses tier lists that are based on 6000+ hour competitive players, and isn’t representative of the majority of the playerbase.
For most people, the top tier is Blight and Wesker. They both have really good pick rates, and their skill floors are reasonable. And for many players, Legion is a stronger pick for them than Nurse or Spirit.
This is why these forums have problems where some people scream “why does BHVR keep making weak killers”, and BHVR responds with “you need to be aware of how killers perform across multiple skill levels”.

I don’t blame them. She’s lost A LOT of what made her unique and is now just a generic semi-fast killer ( in her power without speed add-ons and still unjustifiably slow outside her power after the major nerfs to her power ) and her long power cooldown that doesn’t justify being there anymore considering her power isn’t as strong as it used to be.
i do miss old Spirit dearly….sigh 😪

For the record, I played last night against more spirit players than any other killer. Had about 5 games against different spirit players. She seems decently popular to me at least

She lost her entire character theme. She was supposed to be able to turn invisible, to be sneaky and make survivors guess where she is.
And even when people complain about MDR, why would we want to use MDR, that makes her go faster, which we could just pick Blight instead and not need to deal with invisible survivors?
Blight is probably one of the biggest issues for Spirit’s pick rate. Because of Spirit’s directional audio, Spirit has to just brute force hits with speed, which is what Blight does…. and Blight can see survivors, scratchmarks, and pools of blood.

I’m a high MMR survivor I rarely see spirit it’s always Blight,Nurse, Huntress and Trapper.
I also play spirit and my god without MDR and DCB she is impossible to beat good survivors.
I would say Spirit with MDR and DCB can be the strongest killer in the game and without them she is the THE WORST killer in the game.
