Why is no one using Object of Obsession anymore?
I know it got nerfed but I don't understand why no one uses it anymore. Knowing where the killer is every 30 seconds sounds still pretty strong and the fact that most killers have at least 1 aura reading perk which let's you know when the killer sees you themselves makes it even better.

I use it with Mettle of Man to try to guarantee that I'm the obsession.
Matches where I'm not the obsession means the perk is deactivated, which might be why it's less used.

I think it's beacuse only the Obsession gets to use that 30 second repeating aura read, if you're not the obsession and the Killer doesn't run any aura reading Perks, well now you wasted a Perk slot.

The reason nobody uses it anymore is because its a bad perk.

Wait until the new Gearhead. It'll be like free aura reading with Fogwise for the 30 seconds Gearhead is active

i love when survs bring ooo. that being said though, there are quite a few ways to stop being the obsession, plus perks that read the killer aura that have less of a downside. notably fogwise.

Actually, I've come to find that my favorite perk is Object of Obsession, for exactly what you said. It's like a cancel out. Even though your aura is revealed, it doesn't matter unless they're next to you, which you'll know cause of Object. Downsides though are the Obvious, I tend to hide a lot and get caught, but that's human error. :)

I mean, you can also just use the wallhack key and save the perk slot for something more useful.

Naymeti still runs that perk to devastating effect with Mettle of Man.

Like everyone else has said it's great with MoM. I think it's just more niche especially since there's safer and more reliable perks. But honestly I hope it stays that way. Not because of some issue I have with the perk but I wish there were more like it. It's mostly fun, but still has utility. It's the same reason I love Flashbang. It's just fun.

Because it's not completely busted any more and so survivors think it's a bad perk now.
I wish they would remove the intermittent aura reading tbh. I like using it as a more active counter to aura reading than Distortion, but then I play against a good Nurse and suddenly having your aura revealed to the killer for free all the time doesn't sound so hot.

I think you underestimate the value of information for the killer. Every time I go against someone with Object I've been able to use it against them.
Knowing where survivors are is huge for maintaining pressure. I know if they're going for a save, healing, doing a gen, every 30 seconds. And if I'm playing a stealth killer, I get that information literally for free.
The perk is also largely RNG. I had a match I still remember where a Laurie was running it, and near the end of the match it showed me her aura as she got in a locker to hide for hatch. She just assumed I didn't see it, and I was across the map, but I basically got a free chase/third hook pulling her out of that locker because her perk got her killed by bad luck.

People don’t think it’s bad because it isn’t busted; they think it’s bad because it’s bad. 🤷♀️ It’s outclassed by better, less risky perks anyway.

Too unreliable. You need to hope you're the obsession or bring another perk like For The People to force it for full functionality of the perk.
Also, it has upsides and downsides. At the start of the game and mid game perhaps it's fine the killer can see your aura. Maybe it'll help with some mindgames in chase. But if you're death hook or want to heal someone without the killer finding out or find hatch? etc. Then the perk becomes a hinderance.

Cuz its a bad perk, you can not be the obsession even while using it with ds and mom. If you need to see the killer there are far more reliable aura reading perks like fogwise and alert.

Running OoO means you're gonna need to have the looping skill to back up the extra heat it will draw to yourself. Honestly, the perk itself is fine now, but there just isn't much incentive for survivors to use it outside of MoM specialists. I guess at one point maybe there were more Obsession based survivor perks in the works that ended up not getting made or not keeping the obsession requirements. We don't even really get killer obsession perks much anymore these days.
