Shards worthless
Ive noticed a change that im not so sure about so im coming here to ask. In the past when a new outfit has come out you were able to buy it with auric cells or shards. Recently most new outfits are auric cells only and then later you can buy it with shards. If this is the new change the shards are gonna feel a bit useless because i save my shards for cute outfits and sometimes the shrine. My new main is Thalita and i bought her Siblings Connection outfit with my auric cells because i thought the outfit must be special if i cant buy it with shards. A month later you can buy the outfit with shards. I was honestly upset because if i would've known that i could buy with shards if i just waited i would've never spent my money. I literally have over 120,000 shards so it would've been good to spend them.

So you’re aware of the change already. You can still use the 120k to buy older outfits that you like too. I’m still eyeing the junkyard Wraith outfit with the chain dreadlocks and license plate weapon.

I only buy outfits for my mains. AKA Elodie and Thalita. Thats why i have so many shards

They’ve stated that newly released skins are first available for cells only, and then available for shards after ~4 weeks.
this supposedly applies to all non-licensed cosmetics. Even retroactively, though they’ve been a bit slow with it.

For some reason they are going 4-5 chars per major update for existing cosmetics, so we should at least get the next batch on Tuesday!

Assuming it's a permanant store skin, you just gotta wait 4 weeks and it'll become buyable with shards. For example the fancy skins for Skull Merchant and the new survivors are now buyable with shards.
If it's a new limited time skin then you gotta wait a year until it comes back for shards.

This is so stupid. This game is becoming more and more about money. I feel like it would be worth it if these skins were actually high quality

The limited time skins stuff I completely agree but I quite like the 4-week timer on perma skins since it gives people that wanna spend money a bit of time to show off, but it gives everyone a chance to just buy it with shards eventually.

You do realize that... Dead by Daylight is their actual job, yes? Of course its about money. If they don't charge for things, at least initially, then they will not have a place to live, gas for their cars, food for their families. As for the quality of the cosmetics, well. That's an opinion, and if you don't feel the skins are quality, then... you are not forced to buy them.
