Billy Players, What Are Your Thoughts On This Patch?
I’ve been seeing quite a few HillBillies since the update however I haven’t really seen anyone comment on his buffs. I’m guessing people are enjoying him a lot more.

Much vroom, more boom to giant hitbox objects.

I wish some addon numbers were increased but overall I'm satisfied

the overheat changes feel fantastic. dont know why they cant just remove the mechanic altogether but ill take it.

The overheat isn't as bad as it was but it was never needed in the first place.
What I'd really love is A) a PROPER addon update - some of his are the absolute worst in the game. Seriously. An addon that makes you charge the chainsaw marginally faster *after being blinded*. An Iri that makes your chainsaw silent - but only for those outside your terror radius. The list goes on.

It's good I guess.
I'd rather them give him an addon pass, as most of his add-ons are useless (big buckle). And for them to just remove overheat, it's a stupid mechanic and was never needed in the first place.

I don't play him, but I've seen so many more people playing him including some ex Billy mains and they've been some of the most fun games I've had since literally patch 4.2.0. Ran from one guy so long I managed to convince him to just 1v1 me at shack during EGC and was laughing maniacally the entire time (according to the friend I was playing with, it was "minorly unhinged").
If this keeps up, there's no way it can't be a net positive.

Still wish some add-ons were better but it’s a good change overall
still not used to playing him on mouse and keyboard though so I haven’t got the key bindings to use him properly

Hes amazing and with overheat basically gone i can't complain.
This guy basically has it. Though ill disagree on the iri its probably one of his better ones. Silent saw with undetectable has gotten me so much downs lol. But yeah the flashlight one. And some others really need fixes.
Yeah ive had a few games like that where its the last 2 survivors and me and one of the survivors just 1v1 for a few minutes. So nice.

I was already getting back into him a bit before his change because It had been literal years since I touched him. Tried him last night and yea, the mechanic is (almost) negligible. That said, they need to fix some of his add ons now that the situations in which you overheat are different and less likely to occur in their original conceptions.
For instance, maybe pig house gloves should be looked at, tweaked slightly?

Yeah I’m not going to play Billy regularly again until his trash add-ons get an update. Now I will only play him if I have a daily challenge for him

I think their point on the Iri is it should make the chainsaw silent, period, rather than have the TR restriction

Still needs an addon pass. This patch change was pretty much just for engravings styled Billy. Billys who saw constantly at medium range with low chance of hitting.
Theres so many addons that are just dumpster. Both overheated addons are a meme. It’s even harder to force an overheat to get the effect.
Black Grease is still against his interest and Billy works where he never has to be blinded, ever. It also breaks with Lightborn. Maybe if the time was massively increased but literally never should want to be blinded.
His iridescents are still not strong enough combined. I think if they both marginally increased his turn rate, double iri would be worth bringing. +15% each. Without this change, they instantly become useless upon loading into certain maps. Like Lerys. Instantly have no effect because no ability to navigate.
I think Tuned Carb, Lopro are fine enough. The Spiked Boots don’t need a penalty.
His greens are okay. If they don’t want to buff yellows, Ill be fine but they could use it.

My thoughts to Hillbilly are as follows:

Billy has been dead a very long time.

I haven't played him yet this patch but he looks a lot less reliant on muffler (thank god) so I can use the chainsaw noise addon instead with engraving. His chainsaw noise is so loud and it hurts to play him after a while so I had to choose between muffler for more consistent chainsaw gameplay or the noise reduction addon. Thankfully I probably don't have to choose anymore. I wish they'd just remove overheat overall but I'll take what I can get (hopefully what I can get isn't a headache from Billy's chainsaw)

The overheat changes are good. However, some things felt a bit wrong over the last days. Like some pallets that I just couldn't break with the chainsaw or objects that I couldn't see (even with Shadowborn) stopping the sprint.

These overheat changes are not good.
How about we have : no overhead unless you are within 16m of a hook where someone is hooked?
The devs told us that overheat was added to prevent people from using the saw to guard unhooks so that would prevent such a scenario.

I know but it's likely the closest thing to a QoL improvement Billy is going to get. Removing overheat would be the best option and I stated douzens of times how I didn't like that this actually made him stronger at camping because it contradicts overheat's existence in the first place. However, being in chase and not having to worry about overheat feels good, there's no denying that.

I still don't think he's playable without map offerings. It's a complete waste of time to play Billy without one, because there are so many maps where he basically doesn't have a power. I just went Lerys/RPD back to back and closed the game. A couple days ago I went Garden of Joy/RPD/Midwich/Badham/RPD in some order. This game is OBSESSED with giving you RPD. It makes Billy an expensive killer to play if you care about having fun. You need a combo of his 3 good add ons against good players (engravings/Lo Pro) and a map offering to avoid fun-vampire maps.

-"it's likely the closest thing to a QoL improvement Billy is going to get"
Sorry but I fundamentally disagree.
Until it has been proven otherwise I suspect that Hillbilly was nerfed because for a very long time the best two killers were free. Why would players buy other killer models that were inferior? Dave at one point suggested that DLC killers were "pay to lose".
I think marketing said no we can't have that and that is why LF got massive buffs and Billy got nerfed into the ground.
-"I still don't think he's playable without map offerings."
Most of the killers (especially the M1s) fail on most of the maps in the game. This is because Nurse and Blight are on a completely different level and they need maps to challenge the best players.

That and they need to do a pass over the maps - there are far too many tiny twigs sticking out that knock Billy on his ass. It's ridiculous! Then you get a map like RPD in which case just accept that you're getting 1 kill at most if you're lucky.

I don’t play him either but I enjoy playing against him. I’ve kinda missed seeing him lol
