Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

How do I deal with Skull Merchant as a solo

Genuine question. I came back to DBD this past week so I've not familiarized myself enough with SM yet. From what I understand her strength is 3-genning with the drones as well as locating survivors.

Earlier I had a game on one of the cow farms where we were 3 survivors with one more gen left. But we never managed to break her 3-gen and she got us all.

Is there anything you can do in solo other than always bring a gen focused build in case you end up facing her?

You have to find and break up her three gen early on in the game. You basically have to prioritize do that and kinda risk getting downed in the process. Like the strength is in the fact that people just let her get away with holding the gens by rather than forcing the issue. You as a solo player will more than likely struggle a great deal with this because it requires teammates to do drones which will give her haste for a bit. If you have a gen that you can consider fairly close to popping just keep hammering it even if you go down. She's pretty cooked once it is popped.

A few things have to go right:

You need every teammate to be on the same page. Every teammate needs to understand which gens need to be whittled away, and they need to understand how to be safe while doing it. You need everyone to understand that every single chase has to go away from the 3 gen. You're holding W across the map. If you have even one teammate that doesn't understand, runs the wrong way into the 3 gen, etc, you're screwed.

You need some RNG on your side. If one of those gens is in a multi-story building, don't even attempt it. You're exposed once a drone goes up and you won't have a TR to go off of. The sole exception here is Balanced Landing on the second floor if you can be safe with it.

So, all of that out of the way, how do we attack the gens? If you can, ignore the drone and work the gen. This can sometimes work when the gen is in scan mode and your hitbox is blocked by the gen. You can also ignore the drone if you have absolutely clear line of sight around you and you have Sprint Burst up. Failing both of those conditions, you need to hack the drone.

Try to do the gens at the edge of the 3 gen. Don't get too deep and overcommit to one inside of the cluster. If you get caught and can't get out, it's GG. Pick at the ones on the edge 5% at a time. Hold W earlier. Brace yourself for a 30 minute game and enjoy this incredible design.

Hope your teammates know how to play a 3 gen. If they don't you lose

It’s gonna be super hard because you need coordination. Basically you have to keep her away from the 3-Gen and have your teammates whittle away at it.
