I sometimes use this build which can work as a slugging build: Hex: Third Seal, Knock Out, Septic Touch and other perk of your choice.

Anyway, I don't use this build for slugging, I use this build as a troll build in trapper along with Honning Stone + Bloody coll addons, so as 4th perk I use Deerstalker. The objetive of the build is avoid the survivor which free themselves from a trap to not being healed and Knock Out is for a possible scenario in which there are several survivor downed, one in chase and other after escaping from a trap (quite frequent). The problem of this kind of builds is that the Generators fly and most of the matches are lost.

I don't suggest you using slugging builds, is a scummy tactic for being used sistematically.

We literally already know the specifics:

A killer being within 5 meters of a hooked survivor will cause this meter to increase substantially. Between 5 and 10 meters causes a gradual increase. A killer being further than 16 meters from a hooked survivor will cause the meter to stop filling up completely.

5 Meters is fine, even 10 meters is fine, lunge distance is 6 meters. But 16 is getting quite large, half a terror radius. This is going to be a massive problem where survivors can purposefully make a chase go to a hooked survivor, or on maps with multiple floors, where you actually aren't able to "camp" a survivor on a hook because you are actually really far in terms of walking distance, but because the survivor is on the floor above you they get a free unhook.

Unless they make the timer completely stop if another survivor is nearby, this is going to be exploited, all i have to do is just run over to the area the hooked survivor is at when i get chased. Now, if they abandon chase, i can freely unhook. If they don't abandon chase, the other survivor can just unhook themselves.

Just like the last time they did this, good survivors will be able to heavily exploit this. Which is precisely the problem and always has been. The balance between "low skill" and "high skill" survivors is insane. The types of things high skill survivors can exploit is bad.

A BETTER solution to camping i have always thought is to have 1 set of shared hook states. Basically, there are 12 hook states to kill all the survivors, but the first 4 are shared. This means if you camp someone, you'll need to camp them through 6 hook states before you can kill them. Which will take 6 minutes. The other 3 survivors will easily finish all the gens. This also effectively removes tunneling from the game, because you can't tunnel a survivor out anymore.

THEN they can go and do some sweeping killer buffs that increase their lethality (NOT increase gen speed) and make chases shorter. The best solution for that is to heavily nerf some of the ridiculous loops that can spawn in the game.

who says im over reacting it's already impossble to 12 hook these days and these changes will be the nail in the coffin i'm simply stating that this is the end for hooks in general survivors already have tons of things to stop campers perks gens BASE KIT BT smh

oh and by the way, the new build is working nicely already just tested it on a few games some guy had deliverance and dead hard and didn't get to use either perk see guys i will show u the light hooking survivors is soooo 2019

  • Xernoton
    Xernoton Member Posts: 5,887

Yeah. And with it they'll shift the issue to the heaviest tunneling. Expect 3 hooks and someone dead in every single game when that happens and a kill rate that'll be too low for BHVR's standard.

By the time they fix these issues (which they will have to do back to back) enough people will have stopped playing killer to force them to either give huge compensatory buffs to killers or revert these changes.

If they ever get to the point where killer bots need to fill in for actual players because otherwise queue would be too long, that's when I believe the game will die.

Damn, you encouraged me to use the whole potential of stbfl value and hit survivors on the hook at 30 hits per second, thank you.

You’re better off just camping a three gen with Skull Merchant.

  • bm33

Do you have official statement saying it was scrapped?

The only thing I've seen is that it's currently not confirmed to come to the game but it's not scrapped either, the PTB test allowed them to get feedback to make tweaks. If slugging becomes an issue that will push BHVR to finish work on the basekit unbreakable/finisher mori. Kind of like how they originally said no to basekit anti-camping mechanic but now they're planning to release one thanks to increase in camping.

This! I believe basekit unbreakable will be put into the game if slugging becomes a big issue (like camping did). Killers are upset but they only have themselves to blame.

Wheres my basekit anti-gen rush on cowshed with SWF with commodius and BNP?

  • bm33
    bm33 Member Posts: 8,274

They said Cowshed is one of the first two maps for the live map balance they're working on. Since it was announced during anniversary stream I would guess they will have that ready for midchapter. They only announced 3 specific things for gameplay - map rebalance, DC bots, and anti-camping. I'm sure there's much more planned for the year that they just haven't announced yet. Last year there was stuff that wasn't on the road map that was added to the game, I'm sure same will happen this year.

Last year they gave killers alot of basekit buffs. They increased gen time, made it so killers can kick gens faster, and do more damage with a kick. They also made it so you can break pallets faster, have shorter cooldown from hits, buffed bloodlust, survivors don't go as far after being hit, and nerfed self healing so you can put pressure on them either by injury or ending chases faster to hook them which will slow down progress on gens.

If they see gen rush as an issue I'm sure tool boxes will be nerfed along with gen perks on the survivor side.

as a killer you're not allowed to

Camp, tunnel, slug or 3 gen. Just stare at a rock or something while we do the gens. Thanks.

  • solarjin1

Them things need to be on the chopping block next. Might not be this year given how pack the road map is tho. There need to be a meta shake up for add ons/items and not perks going into the future. Plenty killers could go up a tier with just one good add on being rework. I would love to see BNPs and TS peice gone

You don't need anything given to you base-kit. You just have to "apply pressure" and you will slow them down! Just make sure you don't camp or tunnel! That's not allowed. Also, don't slug too much either because that will be forbidden too! Don't worry about the plethora of strong pallets and bunched up loops that can be chained together. You just have to try really really hard and wait for the survivor to make a mistake! The upcoming map changes will definitely help. You can look to the two most recent map releases of Borgo and Garden of Joy and you will see how fair the design for maps have gotten!

The game sadly needs these changes. If these forums are representative of Killer players in general, then they are mostly entitled kids, who scream and cry whenever they don't get their way. They will even disrespect you whilst telling you that it's your fault. Full blown cry bullies.

  • appleas

I guess all Killer players should stop playing since they are entitled kids and are clearly not mature enough for DBD.

So it was the killers who review bombed the game on Steam and filled the forums with complaints, right?

  • Nazzzak
    Nazzzak Member Posts: 5,851

There were killers literally on this forum telling other killers to review bomb on Steam when the Eruption nerf was first announced lol I really dislike this narrative that survivors are the only ones who use reviews as a weapon.

I wasn't trying to imply that only survivors whine and cry. Just pointing out to the person I quoted that it wasn't as one sided as they were stating it was.

What is substantially? What is gradual? For somebody who says we know the specifics you aren't being very specific.

Meter could slow down to the point that if a survivor is in range constantly the hooked one dies before it can fill completely. We just don't know.

Why do people deal with absolutes when they don't have all the data yet or future changes to said mechanic. Honestly, boggles my mind. It's like complaining about stubbing your toe. It might happen, might never happen, but you're sure as pie angry about a false reality you created.

Wait and see what the PTB shows.
