Was this a cheater?

I downed a survivor who immediately got up. I'm kinda new so thought maybe it was a perk. I chased the player into a corner and body blocked. I downed, she got up. I downed, she got up. Two more times this happened. Then I was disconnected.

I thought maybe I had a bad connection (not typical) and the downing animation was stuck in a loop. Then it occured to me that she only went down when I hit so it couldn't have been a stuck loop.

Did a cheater disconnect me?

Unfortunately it's going to be hard to say without clips. Did the survivor get up immediately or just very fast? And was there another survivor around to help out?

If they are getting up immediately with no help whatsoever, that sounds like a cheat. Occasionally there will be a lag spike and it could be the servers "refunded" the hit (meaning it showed a hit on your screen but on survivor screen they were fine, latency/ping thing) and this is used by some players as an exploit termed "lag switching" which is considered a cheat.

If they are left slugged (left in the dying state on the ground) the perks Boon: Exponential plus Unbreakable could allow someone to get up fairly quickly without any help.

If a survivor was helping and it was immediate, the perk For the People can do that, making the user broken and injured and the survivor that was on the ground is picked back up in the injured state.

If a survivor was helping and it was just very fast, the perks Boon: Exponential and We'll live forever (or something close to that) provides extra healing speed for pick ups off the ground.

Do you have a screenshot of the end game lobby showing all perks in play?

From your initial description it does sound really suspicious especially when it ends with a disconnect.

Do you have any additional info to provide or do any of the above scenarios fit with what you recall?

No one was around to help. It was just the two of us. There could've been a boon nearby but I didn't hear one. Now that you mention it though there was lag when chasing this player. No one else, only this one.

    No screenshots.

Without footage hard to tell. But it could be both cheats and your connection failing. If there was nothing suspicious besides that, I would give the benefit of the doubt and guess it was your connection. Because usually Cheaters who cheat that blatantly do much more than just getting up instantly.

Btw. did the Icon of the Survivor change when you downed them? Was it replaced with the "Downed Survivor"-Icon? If no, it was 100% your connection.

I'm not sure but I'll pay attention to that next time it happens.

That sounds like cheats to me, but without footage it’s hard to say for sure.

It could very easily be a cheater just as much as the server crashing and making everything go wonky for a minute, ive had it happen to me a few times. If it happens again, report the person, but id chalk this up to wonky server issues making everything look weird. <3

From the way you described it, they werent cheating. Sounds like either your connection dropped or the server dropped

That was something I dealt with ALOT a few weeks ago when my ethernet cable was starting to die on me. Luckily that isnt the case anymore
