BHVR why do you allow players with constant red ping to start a match?

dear bhvr, why do you allow players (survivor or killer) with red ping (over 300 ms) to start a match?

it is obvious that the person does not meet the minimum requirements for an online game and 4 other people must suffer from it.

Unless the have changed something recently, i can tell you that is not the case.

I had a match against a 4 man from the Arabics where the lowest had a ping just over 200ms while the worst one had over 900ms.

I could hug them and the hit would still miss without DH.

But i do agree it is freaking annoying to play against people with such a high ping and this should not happen, it's ruins the fun of both sides unfortunately

Counter question: Why do players hit ready when they have a red ping?

not at all, that's normal. the ping function in the lobby sometimes shows a red ping when you load a large steam profie.

I talk about people whose ping never goes below 300.

There are players who are half a continent away from any server connecting with outrageous pings, without or without VPN's in use. Not sure what can be done with them.

I mean some places in the world don't have a server near them and no matter how great their internet they're gonna have bad ping. Do they not deserve to play online games?

Because, unless they changed something recently, you can't see your own ping in the lobby anymore. :(

I think people should have the opportunity to know what their ping is before they load into the match, but once they know I think it should be their choice rather than the game blocking them.

here is the situation for EU servers: players with permanently red ping come mostly from south africa, russia and the arab emirates. I was told that DBD uses the amazon cloud servers. when i look at the location map from aws, south africa and the arab emerates have their own location and russia would have locations that are much closer than frankfurt germany.

The answer is on the question of whether they are earning it is yes, but not at the expense of others. Playing DBD is not a basic human need that should be alike. If thier infrastructure does not allow to play with a reasonable ping DBD, then other games are more suitable for them.

My question was asked directly to the developer. Why doesn't he answer this question himself?

There can still appear a red ping bar as an indicator, if you don't see it everthing should be OKAY. You can see it next to surv names if one of them has a bad ping to the server. Or right next to the lobby countdown if you as surv or killer have a bad connection to the server. It seems to mostly happen at prime time, when a certain role needs a bigger playerpool and you get connected to a server which is more far away from your location. And it seems most players just forgot about it, hit ready anyway, only to complain/DC later.

I treat red pings same as we had peer-to-peer back than in DBD. If i have it or i see survs with it i back out and search for another game. But beyond that i agree, we should be able to see all pings again, in the lobby AND during the match. You can check them ingame, but not the killers ping for some reason. And we need more and better spreaded servers. Just look at russian players. The closest server for them is still located in FRANKFURT, Germany.

Not too long ago Peanits said sth about regions in a different thread also related to hit validation and ping. There are some more replies in that thread for anyone who's interested.

But even with all what Peanits said I'm not particularly convinced it's alright that all of Africa and the Middle East has only two servers to ping; Frankfurt, EU - or Singapore, Asia. Like. Both servers are several thousand kilometers away. There surely are enough players in those regions to warrant their having a server.

i just had a killer from germany (german steam profile and friends from germany) with a permanent red ping. is this enough to report the player for vpn abuse or what proofs do i have to bring to proof lagswitching?

I am from the middle east and play this game with constant 100+ ping and it sucks so much as i have emailed them over the years about this several times but they just never do anything about it or care about players there. They used to have mumbai servers, that was good because it meant people in the middle east would be getting anywhere between 20-50 ping but they removed it without any proper reason. The developers suck when it comes to not listening to their player base and im sure they have enough money from the game to support opening a server there and keeping it but they just dont want to do that and it sucks playing on high ping because this game is so ping dependant.
