Lower gen sounds?

It might just be me , but is anyone else having a hard time hearing gens unless you're right next to them? It's not constant either but I won't hear anything when going pretty close to it , then BAM 10 seconds later the gen pops.

audio occlusion is a little bit weird and inconsistent in this game , it might be that , this has been a thing from a loooong time.
