Wondering.

Going off they said they are really iconic additions

Friday the 13th, Candyman, Alien, It (Pennywise), Chucky, Five Nights at Freddy's, Slenderman. Probably at least one of these will be one of the next two chapters.

It seems a lot of people are saying F13. I know the game is losing the license (or something). Would someone like to enlighten me?

I'm not sure if its coincident, but in august, there is Dracula film by universal. Whether to coincide with the release, or maybe the alien one.

This game desperately needs a classic horror.

Really hoping Friday the 13th gets out of Legal purgatory and we could see Jason in trials... but I err on the side of not getting my hopes up.

If we did get Jason... you have to pick a Jason though... he changed pretty much film to film... I'd vote Freddy vs. Jason though is the look I'd most favourably assign to him... there is no doubt or confusion in that film... its Jason.

since they Confirmed that the next licenses are very Iconic i really hope for a " The Fly " Chapter we need another Icon Horror Killer like Pinhead

The Body Morph from Singularity also works Perfect for the Fly as a Killer :D

The Thing would also be very cool but sadly its never going to Happen

One will be full chapter (new killer, new survivor(s) and new map).

And one will be killer only chapter.

Friday the 13th fits so well for full chapter. Jason is killer, Crystal Lake map and a lot survivor chances for female and male.

For killer only... This one is hard to guess. FNaF maybe? Or Candyman?

IDK I want Alien or Pennywise really bad.

Probably Resident evil volume 3 lol. Actually Lady D would be awesome ngl.

Alien is my one and only right now.

The Fly was a really cool suggestion though!

They made it sound like it was gonna be a massive franchise like Jason but if I had my pick I’d choose Clock Tower and make Scissorman a killer and maybe Jennifer Simpson as the survivor. As for a killer only chapter I’d go with Norman Bates - the original psycho.

well they already got Terminator once for their death garden game so why not get him again.

my second guess is candy man (I'm sick of picking Jason every time just for it to be someone else lol)

I could say what i wish for it to be, but it's quite frankly pointless since it'll just lead to disappointment in the very likely case it's not those.

Instead i'm gonna go by what i hope it's not, which is another second chapter of an existing license, another video game license or another resident evil chapter.

Director of this game has always said jason has had standing invitation. New friday the 13th stuff is going to come out soon as it looks like there was an agreement made with the legal rights so it looks like Jason is looking finally possible in dbd, and considering next two are really iconic and jason is really iconic slasher killing it makes a lot of sense to believe jason could be one of the next two killers.

    Jason and Springtrap

Lawsuit is probably over and his game is shut down but also makes sense with Crystal lake map including a survivor.

Springtrap since the release date is close to the Fnaf movie and funny enough Fnaf 3 takes place in 2023 but also he was hyped a year or 2 back so would make sense to release him this year. Lastly BHVR is working with Warner Studios for DBD movie and Warner is also making Fnaf Movie so would make sense for a chapter.

Personally, I think F13 may be a possibility, but FNAF is most likely out of question, as they said with big L (or something).

I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't age well, though.

Eh would not say that, it was on a survey they did not to long ago.

Plus if it will give them big money they will find a way.

  • JackOfTrades

Ah, I don't do the surveys, so I wouldn't know that.

    Thanks!

    Tony the Pimp from Demons?

Would be rad to see Rawhead Rex or Pumpkinhead in the mix too...

As we're taking on real people now, let's get Kurt Russell on board.

Np, I do it time to time just to see what the devs think about the community.

Also I would say slenderman too since something is going on with Slender the Arrival

Oh wow, thank you for sending that, I didn't even know about it!

I loved playing through Slender: The Arrival, but it was short and Slender wan't in it for very long, so hopefully this new game has more interaction with Slender.

I mean I would argue it is iconic enough for a big L. The movie trailer already has over a million likes. That doesn't just happen. You need to already be big for something like that.

If we go to the channel Rarithlynx, the people who make those concept spotlight videos, you'll see the fnaf concept spotlight has the most views of anything. More than alien, more than pennywise.

And finally it was largely requested a couple years ago, I'm pretty sure with petition to add fnaf to dbd reaching around 60,000 signatures

Np, game was amazing and can't wait what they have planned mostly since Slenderman was in a copyright loop hole. I just hope the woke people wont see it and try and boycott it.

Want to see Slenderman returned and have more horror stories and fan games again.

Slenderman is anything but Iconic. It's an internet creepypasta whose only real mainstream acknowledgement happened when little kids got lost in the sauce and hurt someone IRL.

Who says it has to be iconic? Slender: The Arrival and Slender: The Eight Pages are really good games.

And about the case in 2014: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/woman-slender-man-stabbing-seeking-conditional-release-rcna35109

Sony is doing things with the licence currently (as I believe they currently hold it).

  • Mr_Madness

Not really, he was famous before the "Incident" which ngl sick of hearing cause it was later found out Slenderman was basically used as an escape goat when they kept changing stories on why they did it and they also stated Joker from Batman and TMNT are actually real.

Going to avoid that topic now since mods said to avoid talking about it real-life terrible incidents involving fictional characters but wanted to bring this point up because it's dumb blaming a fictional character instead of the real-life people.

Slenderman was extremely iconic mostly with the 8 pages and later Slender the Arrival which today the graphics are still amazing.

The best part of him is that you can make any horror story with him including and will still make sense because of his HP Lovcraftian theme. Crying out loud he actually shares a lot in common with the Entity since they always do the Cat and Mouse game with people.

Actually Mythology Holdings currently own him. Also don't trust Sony after Slenderman movie unless they get better directors that do actual research on him.

He is very popular internet creepypasta. Iconic is subjective anyway, so it's not really worth arguing about.

Being internet famous and being iconic are two distinctly different levels of saturation. Slenderman gets hyped up alot but as a character Slenderman suffers from the same issues most creepypasta characters suffers from which is highly inconsistent portrayals and generally lackluster feats. The things that make Slenderman great for internet creepypasta and writing are the same things that generally make them trash for translating to other media formats. Since he doesn't have well defined lore and explanations of how anything he does functions, he can theoretically do and be anything as long as you adhere to the visual shorthand that denotes "Hey, this is supposed to be Slenderman". The problem with that is you end up seeing a lot of different Slendermen and none which are the definitive ideal portrayal.

That's part of the reason the film's bad along with there being a ton of Slender games that actually aren't all that good at conveying Slenderman as anything more than a drawn out jumpscare. The look is the only truly iconic thing about Slender. He's not even that popular on the internet anymore, like except the really diehard creepypasta lovers and diehard Slender fans his internet presence has fallen way off.

Yes he was famous, on the internet, before the incident, but he had basically zero mass market penetration. People who weren't already in the general ecosystems that get into creepypastas very much didn't know this was even thing that existed. The normans still don't know who or what a Slenderman and don't care to find out. FNAF has more mainstream appeal and I would even say that it isn't truly iconic yet as it hasn't manage to properly penetrate into realms in which the majority people consume content. Gamer and internet popularity are actually the last thing to consider for naming something an icon.

Chucky with the snake knife is my most wanted pick. My fringe pick is the Tallman from Phantasm. I will say I don't think it is either of these guys, I just want them the most.

  • Mr_Madness
    Mr_Madness Member Posts: 1,003

To be fair, Slenderman is simple because hardly any lore besides the Slender Mythos which is why he is easy to make games or horror stories of.

I still say he is Iconic but not recognized anymore due to his fandom dying out sadly which hope Blue Studios revives him with what they are doing.

The Arrival did a perfect version of him to give him terror. Seen though out tragic events with people dying from newspapers. Driving people insane while corrupting any electronic equipment. Having his pages connected to his past victims which is why Slenderman places them around to lure his victim into his game.

Teleporting around the player even in a great distance to stalk them without being seen as if he is studying them.

Even though most games did not really give him meaning The Arrival gave him a great reboot of his identity.
