Is CHAPTER 28: End Transmission success or not?

What are your thoughts on this chapter overall? Here is my opinion:

  • Map isn't that bad as I was scared of. Its small map and there are some open spaces where it is open a bit. The main building isn't much strong too. I think it's decent map overall.
  • Singularity is a unique Killer and he is decent. I don't this he is good but also not a bad Killer. Teams who will do teamplay will destroy you and even in SoloQ you can counter him. His chase power is decent but nothing amazing and you can play around it. Overall solid Killer, but probably not my favorite. The perks are okay.
  • Gabriel's perks are very good, Made For This is new meta and Troubleshooter is also pretty solid. Scavanger is bit tricky to use but I would say you can still get some value out of it. Much better perks than the Killer got. As a character himselfs (look, lore, etc.) I don't care about him.

A ton of people overreacted about this chapter saying it’s a third failure in a row. It’s far from true. Sure Singularity was super weak coming out of the PTB but he has had such a great concept that could be tweaked with and they touched him really quickly and he’s in a great spot now.

I will have to say that Toba Landing has been a disaster waiting to happen but that’s about the only complaint I have from the chapter. I don’t even consider MFT a failure, I really am of the opinion killers have been overly dramatic about that perk.

I find it to be quite enjoyable.

The map is new and unique, I like the different terrain and I enjoy the alien architecture and fauna.

I like Singularity. I think he's a very good Killer.

I also quite like Gabriel and his perks.

Very weak killer but fun to play as and against imo.

When comparing it with the other original Anniversary-Chapter, I think it falls a bit behind Roots of Dread. But mainly because this one was really unique with a non-humanoid Killer for the first time.

But when it comes to the actual parts of it, I think it is better than Roots of Dread. The Map is certainly better than Garden of Joy. IMO Singularity is also stronger than Dredge (even tho both are good Killers in my opinion) and Gabriel is a better Survivor than Haddie, mainly because his Perks are better with Made for This being Meta, while Haddie had 3 Perks which are not really good.

I also think that the main criticism comes with two points (at least in this forum):

    • Survivors got an actually good Perk for once
    • Singularity is harder to pick up than the average Killer Main wants to invest time into

People are still overreacting over Made for This - while it is a decent Perk, I dont see it more often than Exhaustion-Perks, which shows for me that it is not OP. If it would be OP, people would change their Loadouts. Whenever I play Survivor I am mostly the only one using it, when I play Killer I see at max 1 oder 2 Survivors bringing it. If it would be the new OP-Perk people claim, you would see it more often.

Singularity is a good Killer. But IMO he is weaker than Killers like Wesker (who are stronger and in general more fun to play) or Nurse (which is stronger), while being harder to play than those Killers. You need to put in some effort to get decent results and there are simply Killers where you dont need to put that much effort into learning them with better results (e.g. Nurse) and then there are Killers who are weaker, but way easier to play and still good enough to 4K most of the time against the majority of Survivors.

And the Killer being quite rare is not really a point IMO. It is not Twins-Level of rarity and we now have 32 Killers, which means that on average you will not encounter every Killer as often as you used to a few years ago.

tl;dr: Overall I like it and I think after Knight and Skull Merchant, it is 100% a big improvement.

I had my personal issues with the Chapter, but I've never believed it to be a failure and I never understood people who think of it that way. Then again, some people believe anything original is by default a failure. I really enjoy Singularity and it's power. The biopods are fun and since the nerfs to EMPs, it no longer feels like survivors have total control over my power the entire match.

Gabriel is one of my favorite survivors of recent chapters alongside Ada and Vittorio (don't really care for Haddie, Becky, or the twins Thalita and Renato). Made For This is fun, but NOT OP like some will have you believe (if using 1-2 other perks maybe even surrounding an entire build around a perk is what makes it op, the perk itself is not op).

The map is the only thing that I'm 50/50 on. I haven't played on it since the hotfix and I know there was some stuff about the map in it, but I didn't look over the patch notes so maybe it isn't anything major. I don't necessarily like cluttered maps and I feel like it's one of the largest issues with maps just being cluttered and having stuff there for the sake of having it there. I hate hate HATE when the devs do that and for whatever reason they were celebrating doing that with Toba Landing.

Either way, really love the characters, map's fine I guess. I personally deem this chapter a success and after Forged of Fog and Tools of Torment being flops of original chapters, it's nice to see the devs succeed again with an original chapter.

I like it. I think the map is beautiful, though I haven't seen it since the visual update. Killer is unique. Survivor looks cool. Overall I think it's a good one.

I like the lore a lot, End Transmission seems like it'd be one of the best candidates if BHVR ever creates a movie based on original chapters.

Gabriel, I actually like his design with the futuristic clothing. His perks are not super useless and actually have clear use. One of them is even great cough cough

I'm still tinkering with Hux, but it seems really hard to play effectively. Constantly losing biopods feels bad, and the longer a game goes on, the EMPs are more constant. I got the adept tonight so I'm free to actually experiment with builds. I'm enjoying Forced Hesitation, and am eager to experiment with other killers. But Machine Learning is pretty disappointing. The last perk is fine I guess, but exhaustion is less important ever since Dead Hard was gutted. It's hard to see when you get value.

I've literally only played on Toba Landing twice so I can't say *too* much but it seems okay. Worse for ranged killers due to line of sight blockers everywhere, but overall manageable because it's not too big.

Overall, I think it's a successful chapter, much better than the previous two. Lots of uproar about MFT and I understand, but I think they'll wait a bit if they decide to nerf it. My theory is it'll be conveniently after Gabe & Hux get their additional lore from the next Rift.

I think this chapter is the second best anniversary chapter we've gotten, with only Silent Hill surpassing it.

Honestly I prefer Forged in Fog. Both maps are terrible, both killers are fun to play, the biggest difference is the survivors, and Vittorio clears Gabriel in every category except for bringing overpowered perks.

Whether I prefer this chapter to Tools of Torment is still up in the air tbh

I'd call it a success yes.

I think the community was (rightly) concerned about a killer who can monitor gens after SM, and a bit weary after Knight/SM in general, but I think BHVR nailed the design for this killer. He started rough, but the general design gives them number tweaks/cogs to tweak that can make him better whilst at the same time making sure he has enough counterplay. They also addressed feedback quickly on this chapter (Map changes, killer changes).

Singularity and Toba are also unique and I appreciate getting a map that's futuristic. Is it perfect? No - but I think it's a successful chapter overall.

Good chapter,we really needed one after Forged in Fog and Tools of Torment.

Singularity is going to be one of those killers you maybe see every once in a blue moon. Nobody wants to invest time in a killer that goes from pathetic to mediocre. There is too much counterplay for too little reward.

The map is mostly fine. There are still some things that could use a bit of work but it's prette decent. Best map we had in over 2 years.

Perks go from pretty much useless to extremely strong. MFT could use a nerf.

Overall the chapter is decent. It's just one of these chapters that no one will talk about anymore in a few months. The few people that play Singularity will switch to different killers and the perks will either get power creeped or nerfed.

I liked the new map, wish we got it more often cause I haven't learned it at all. Survivor is one of the stronger ones in a long time. I think killer might be slept on after his buffs, because people are still convinced he's still weak.

Maybe it's simply wrong to compare any other killers to Wesker's release, as he's both a licensed character from a very popular franchise and he's very fun to play as and against. BHVR might have hit a goldmine with him, so it's probably unprecedented.

People used to say the same about Knight, but I feel like I see a lot more Knight now than I ever did when he was first released (and arguably he was a lot stronger back then, since Eruption+CoB was meta).

I love the new killer but playing them is very disorienting and frustrating. Having restricted range on biopods with windows is actually more troublesome in practice and it's very disorienting controlling a biopad and resuming chase. He's very clearly meant to use biopods in chase but the camera is never facing where you want it to in chase and it is really finicky snapping to a survivor sometimes.

Singularity is good when they work but they could use some quality of life changes. I'd love to play them more but they feel like Twins to an extent.

To me, Singularity is what Skull Merchant should have been. He's a surveillance/tracking killer with a very interesting (albeit hard to use) chase power. It also helps you have far more agency and control over the use of his power and it doesn't feel boring and passive like SM's. I also love his art direction and design, he's an interesting yet frightening looking sci-fi robot monster.

I have mixed feelings on the map. It's beautiful looking and is a welcome change gameplay-wise from the run of the mill realms we've been having lately, but sometimes I feel it's a little too overwhelming for the senses, there are so many colors and sounds that sometimes I get distracted by them and lose track of either the killer or survivors.

Perks also have been good on both sides. Genetic Limits might be the weakest perk in the set and even then, it's obvious to see why it was included (it's to counter Made For This). Last chapter's perks mostly were duds and it's cool to go back to perks that I'll want to use on other characters.

All in all, well done team. Chapter's a good return to form after a rather lackluster chapter.

I can't personally play the killer well but i'm enjoying his perks

    Survivor perks are fun too

Garden of joy is better map though if you are survivor but not a map you want to play as killer. Definetely still not worst.

Considering Singularity is a rare sight not only as a new killer but a new anniversary killer says he's not a hit. Gabriel seems liked enough though. Made for this has already crept into the meta.

The new map looks amazing but gameplay wise it's a mixed bag.

I don't think I would call it a success based on how little Singularity is seen.
