I'm starting to dislike Nowhere To Hide

I might get diagnosed with a skill issue, but I feel like this needs to be said:

Nowhere To Hide might be a little bit too much. It has no cooldown, 24m is a pretty good radius, it lasts for 5 seconds, can be enhanced by Lethal Pursuer, and most importantly, it follows the killer's movement.

t's an example of powercreep in DBD. Most of the other aura perks have pretty simple ways of activating, and trigger as a result of survivor's actions. Healing, destroying totems, unhooking, completing a gen, stunning the killer, etc. NTH is one of the few that rewards the killer for doing something they'd likely do anyway. It has great synergy with every other gen kick perk. I'm not a new player, so I don't immediately fear the terror radius and get caught by it often. Needless to say, it's been really rough to adapt to the perk rising in usage. I'm gonna have to start using Distortion, but as we all know, it feels sucky to have to change your build just for a threat that may or may not exist in any given match.

Despite all that complaining, I'd say it's mainly a problem of high tier killers using the perk and benefitting in a way that other killers couldn't.

But then gen kicking is actually limited, it's not like they stop regressing by themselves, 24 meter is not so small but not so big either.

I dislike it too. It's like darkness revealed, but with 3x the range

I’d say run distortion but apparently that’s a noob trap perk

Speaking of 3-gens, that does remind me that it's miserable in a 3v1 or 2v1 situation if a killer has already sacrificed a survivor early. The 24m follows the killer like Detective's Hunch's tracking does, so it's actually a really good perk. You can get way more than a 24m aura read with it.

No, Distortion is a good perk for sure. I just use a different build on each different survivor that I play, and might have to use it more often than I do right now.

I agree. I think it should be centered on the gen, not the killer. Then it would be fine.

Personally I stop running Nowhere to Hide since gen kicking isn't that great anymore. I rather run other aura reading perks like Floods or BBQ. Just don't want to kick gens anymore since it's not really worth it.

most killers can't really look around while moving at high speed, nurse, blight, hillbilly, all in same vein, only one that can fully utilize this perk is wraith but then he has no problem finding survivors anyway.

It was annoying during the 3 gen kick meta era, as i saw it pretty much every game and it would keep you off your gen long enough for it to regress significantly (in combination with the standard COB, Eruption, etc, that was in every single game). Don't see it as much anymore and even when I do it's not something I'm bothered by.

Dude it’s just aura perk, how can it be op? Doesn’t give you any adventage in chasing. This perk is fine, of course it’s broken in the hands of blight of nurse, but what’s not broken in their hands?

Nowhere To Hide is definitely a good perk. Not insanely strong but good. And it can be quite hard for inexperienced survivors to play around it. After all, these are the type of survivors that will hide instead of loop, which Nowhere To Hide can counter.

But it is definitely not overpowered either. The game should be balanced in a way that allows the killer to build pressure as long as they are in chase constantly. Nowhere To Hide will only help you get into the next chase quicker without providing any extra value while in chase. In my opinion that is perfectly fine.

Run Distortion, it is such and underrated perk

I thought it was based on the gen's location. It's not? Wow.

I mean, if it helps you find survivors who are scared and would rather not get chased, that's a pretty big chase advantage it gives.

You’re asking how an aura reading perk can be OP? Aura reading is very powerful especially when it comes to the auras of the other players.

Mmm I tend to notice some survivors because of how the perk currently works but those running away I don't usually chase. They are already far away. I think the perk is absolutely fine as it is now.

That's a good way of looking at it, and makes me feel a little bit better about it. I think you've both actually changed my opinion and it's not too OP for most killers.

But being in chase constantly can lead to some crazy pressure and NTH gives that info for practically free. If you pair it with PGTW or something, killers could get some huge momentum. I'd like to reiterate my point that it's more of a problem on high tier killers who are likely to be using Lethal Pursuer as well. Running away in advance is less effective then.

It used to be like that on release for a few weeks but then in December it got fixed to follow the Killer for 5 sec after kicking. That's also what allowed it to be paired with Lethal Pursuer and made it really strong.

Distortion is your friend. I always run it and it's a great perk. But it's extra useful against nowhere to hide. Killers who use it get lazy when they check near gens, they expect the aura to show up so they don't bother searching unless they hear something. You can hide almost right next to the gen and jump straight back on because they'll leave almost immediately.

Good point but I'd argue that this is more of an issue with these stronger killers. Thinking about it it's not hard to see how the strongest killers in the game profit from most perks infinitely more than the others. They scale with their perks and their perks scale with them.

For example you could look at BBQ and Lethal Pursuer. I use it on Billy and really it's good. It is a strong combination on him but far from overpowered. On Nurse and Blight however? That is completely different. Billy gets into the next chase quicker (with the occasional snipe against unaware survivors) while Blight and Nurse get free hits often times. Worse than that is the fact that there are far stronger perks for these 2 killers as well.

Makes sense, I'd taken a break around early December till April or May this year, so I guess I missed the buff it got.

i'm sorry but after hundreds of hours of finding progressed gens but not finding a single soul nearby, i don't sympathize with people struggling against this perk. just welcome a chase or abandon the gen. lockers work as well

  • Chomperka

no it's not ,aura reading wont let you catch survivor who is good at this game and doesn't hide behind the bushes where killer 100% hits him if notices even without nowhere to hide. There are few aura perks at this game that give you advange, and only for certain killers. Like ghostface perk is op for nurse/pyramid, bbq is also op in the hands of blight and nurse, deadly pursuer is the only aura perk which can be considered S tier for every killer.

no i also agree and said the same thing about both darkness revealed and nowhere to hide. The requirements for both of these perks are basically nonexistent for nowhere and minor for darkness. Just compare them to other aura perks and it's actually pretty wild how free these perks are given to you vs bbq or bitter murmur

  • GreyBigfoot

Darkness Revealed has an actual cooldown, is predictable on Huntress/Trickster who use it the most, and if a killer is seen checking lockers it's pretty obvious that they probably have this.

BBQ is still better than Darkness Revealed but I think NTH is more powerful than both.

I think nowhere to hide would be fine if the aura was centered around the gen. The fact it moves with the killer is what causes the problem.

This perk makes BBQ seem obsolete. In a solo queue lobby with players that are only good at hiding and can't survive a chase longer than 20 seconds, it's certain death.

Any perk with time is sometime just broken on high speed killer, just for example of yours and Tinkerer that 16sec is not enough for Doctor but its a whole map circle patrol for Blight.

Alone 24m range aura around Gen, Blight already has more benefit because he can run to survivor before the aura goes off.

Just run Distortion. Aura perks are hella common these days and you'll almost always get use out of it.

Not to mention sweaty Nurse players who run 4 aura perks get REALLY salty when they can't see you non-stop throughout the entire game. It's a win-win.
