I used to be rank 1 killer probably 2 years ago, and would play against really solid survivors, with the occasional 4k hour swf groups popping up. I've recently got back into dbd, and am trying to learn all the new killers. It started off fine about a week ago, groups I was going against were not the best but they were clearly experienced. I would get 3-4k and around 9-10+ hooks pretty consistently but this all came crashing down as of 3 days ago. Every single group I've played against has been full of very experienced and skilled survivors. Between yesterday and today, I've played against 2 swf groups one was average 3k hours and the other average 4k hours (I've only played maybe 5 games on killer in the past 2 days because of how bad my matchmaking is) My average hooks per game is around 5 and kills are 0-2 avg in the past 3 days. Or at least that's what I remember lol I've had a couple games on huntress where I kinda stomped

I should mention I have just under 500 hours played.

I don't mind playing against really good players, helps me learn. I guess I'm just confused as to why EVERY game is extremely sweaty. I'm silver 4 on killer iri 1 on survivor although rank means nothing (or does it? I have no clue how the matchmaking system has been changed over the past 2 years...)

Yeah that rank is meaningless. It's just for blood points on the reset day. It doesn't say how good you are it says how much you have played.

The more you win, the higher you go up in SBMM. I guess you've had enough 3-4ks that the game thinks you can stand to have more difficult opponents. If you lose enough, it should settle a bit lower and you'll eventually start to be able to predict when you're due to go against more difficult opponents. You end up in this kind of balancing act. I know when after I've had a series of wins that a world of hurt is coming my way.

So you started playing again a week ago and your Ir1 on survivor playing in solo queue?

Not that rank really means much and is more about time invested these days, but getting Ir1 on survivor is pretty frustrating even for most experienced players who play solo queue due to the amount of games you lose solely by just having bad teammates DCing and hook suicide.

Due to dwindling playerbase and the need for faster que times, SBMM has been watered down so much that nowadays the players that just installed the game can be put into the same match as the 10k hour Nurse main that hasn't lost a game since 2019.
