Community Cosmetic Contest (And Toxicity)...
The winners of the Community Cosmetic Contest have been revealed (see here: https://twitter.com/DeadbyDaylight/status/1678766267493392385 ) and the community is not taking it well.
Ive seen a lot of people sending hate to the artists and just leaving really awful comments because the skins that they wanted did not win. These artists do not deserve hate and harassment for it.
I must remind people, that regardless of the outcome, we are lucky to have community cosmetics added to the game to begin with, and any community cosmetics should be celebrated since it's a huge win for us as a community. Instead of tearing people down, we should be lifting one another up here!
Anyways congratulations to the winners! Idk if any of them use the Forums, they probably dont, so Idk if they will see it, but yall did an amazing job designing these, would be glad to see what yall come up with next!

I didn’t look at all of the submissions and while I’m not overjoyed with what I’m seeing I would never hate on these creators. They aren’t deserving of that. Every single one of them has more talent than I could ever dream of having. Kudos to everyone who submitted a design and a special kudos to those who will have theirs featured in-game!

Toxicity? Among dbd-players? Completely unheard of. Are you sure you've seen it right? :P

I feel the exact same way. The artists are clearly very talented but the winner choices for both sides had me scratching my head.

I think part of it is how:
Clown won a community contest already
There have been no male survivors who won one.
Still doesn’t justify the sheer pettiness, though.

I don't like the clown outfit but that's just me the rest are pretty cool especially the entit-bee
Edit maybe it's the art style it might be good in game

Yea I really like the Entit-Bee as well, such a cool looking charm.

I didn't post anything on Twitter, but I don't think we should be silenced regarding what we think about the cosmetics.
I agree sending hate directly to the artists is stupid. BHVR made those choices, but there were quite a few better choices.
They could turn more than one of them into skins and make sure they pick a couple for the most popular killers/survivors that they know sell well and then make some quality skins about really good concept arts even if they are of more unpopular killers/survivors.
As for picking that which takes less skill to model (as some have mentioned), it's not out of the realm of possibility, but in that case they just need to pay their 3D modelers better. Maybe if they could splurge on this event it could become a great money-maker for them and I don't see why their employees should not be payed better for it if it requires more effort, or heck just make it more expensive if it's levels above other cosmetics.

I'm not sure how these community cosmetics are chosen. Does BHVR choose or what? I feel like they should have the community vote on what cosmetics should win. Have a survey like the player satisfaction ones and have all the entries there for ppl to vote.

Not agreeing or disagreeing about if any of the models require less effort...but they make literally no money on the community contest winners. All of them get put into the rifts free pass before the two skins eventually get released into the store, only available for iri shards if I'm not mistaken.

Can't you buy rift uniforms with aurics when they get added later in the game? Or is it because they are community that they only get and iri shard price?
0 -
They may have changed it, but I swear the first time they did it they were only available with iri shards as they didn't want to make a profit from it. Possibly legally couldn't make a profit from it.

Im not hating on the artists or anything, but I would've liked to get a cosmetic on a different killer.
We already have Mr. Puddles (Not the best skin, but it was still a community cosmetic)

There's nothing wrong with the submissions that won and the artists that made those submissions definitely do not deserve the hate they get, in fact i much prefer the Clown cosmetic over any of Dredge's skins.
There are many ways people can cope and seethe over not getting what they want, this should not be one of them.

But then the same survivor favorites would win where most likely female survivors would win. But not like it matters anyways. Bhvr always choose female survivors to win anyways

I think the clown skin is kinda neat tbh

I gave the person that did the yun jin design a follow. They seem like a very nice person and they deserved to win the contest fair and square

I seriously don't get the sheer mentality of the absolute dipshits who feel getting so angry that they should abuse the artists who simply entered a competition. It's absolutely ridiculous, especially since it was the devs who chose the winners!!
Granted, those designs - compared to some others - really are not that next-level brilliance (it's quite bad on the judges when a killer charm is the best design!!!). That's down to BHVR though, not the artists.
I suppose they have to consider design ability and such. In summary: wanker minority community comments, sub-par judgement on winners by BHVR.

Best cosmetic Yun-Jin has bar none.
Idk none of these blow me away but they're nice and hating on the artists is unhinged....so average DBD community behavior lol.

I didn't know the artists were being harassed. I wish I could say this is out of character for this playerbase but sadly I can't. You can dislike something without being an a** about it. It's just a game. There's nothing wrong with the winning cosmetics, even if you feel they're not to your taste.

That Clown skin isn't even gonna look that great in-game,they're gonna add a ton of dirt on it and ruin the white-red contrast.

It's really sad to see people get harassed over this. They don't deserve that. People harassing others ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Ive been harassed, stalked and attacked over my cosplay and I know it's not fun, some people are just jealous.
On the other hand though, was this not a contest where we all got to vote? I didn't even know this was a thing. I wouldn't really bother if it's not a community vote type thing.

The artists shouldn't be getting any hate, it's the judge's that should be getting the hate if people don't agree with the winners.
Now personally I really like the clown cosmetic but I understand that he's already gotten one before AND that Plant Dredge skin was amazing. Unfortunatly they were never gonna choose a skin like that to win because it's too much work, the Clown skin, while looking really cool, won't require anywhere near as much work.
The Yun Jin skin though is... really generic? Like it's just so bland and so similar to so many skins already in game. I didn't even know it was her until I saw the 'No Spin' on her shirt, it's just some generic-looking character. Now I've not seen any of the other skin ideas for survivor but there MUST have been some other choices that actually looked creative and unique and wouldn't take that much work to put ingame, surely.
There's also the issue that EVERY single survivor that's won has been female. I'm not expecting some gender-quota or anything but at this point it's clear there's a definite bias amongst whoever judges this towards women and it's gotta be super disheartening to people who submit male survivor ideas.

I am one of few that are really looking forward to Yun Jin skin. I like it that its not flashy like most of her skins and has big mix and match potential. And the artist of that skin is very happy about winning and seen them taking negativity very well too so its all good.
I dont care for charms and clown skin is just clown skin so I dunno. But its still surprising that Yun Jin skin gets more hate than clown who already has one community skin in the first place

Sounds like a good idea on paper but this would probably end in a popularity contest and the same artists winning every time

Let us judge the end product when it releases and have high hopes in the meanwhile.

Expressing that you don't like the cosmetics is fine as long as you don't send hate to the artists, the judges should be the one's to receive criticism.
