The Worst Year of Killer and Survivor?
With balance changes from years, game changed a lot. Sometimes game favored killers, sometimes survivors. So i am asking worst years for both roles. What do you think?
For me:
Killer = 2017 - Yes, 2017 was worst year for killers. Infinities was in game. Exhaustion perks was so busted. Thanks god i was not playing DbD, i will join a year later :)
Survivor = 2022 - Meta perks nerfed and survivors lost a lot good perks. It was hard to adapt. And plus gen-kick meta was stupidly so strong. Eruption - CoB - Overcharge... Hopefully we never see meta like this anymore.

I would say that in 2016 the game was probably objectively in it's worst state for killers because there were quite some infinte loops and very unfair spots in the game. Yet, it did not feel like it to mebecause the majority of the survivor player base was not good enough to utlize it.
For me as killer the absolute worst time I had in DBD was after the release of Dead Hard. This started the era of the constant DH,DS,SC meta. A huge majority of survivors I played against it had that every single game and it felt boring and unfair to the point where I decided to take a break from the game.
As for survivor, I think I have to agree with OP. For me, 2022 killer felt stronger than ever before. The gen-kick-meta was also very unfun to play against.

I only started in 2019 so I haven't seen it all like machine guns or infinite sabotage.
But I think the worst time for killer might have been when I started playing, I just didn't realize it. Unnerfed Balanced Landing, lots of maps being huge especially Blood Lodge and Ironworks of Misery window being there. Toolboxes lasted for basically an entire generator, and Trapper could have his traps sabotaged plus only hold 1. Trapper was my main back then because I didn't have every DLC until later. Killer may have had old Pop & Old old Hex: Ruin, but you were basically forced to use Ruin on every killer.
The worst time for survivor imo was the time where Tinkerer + Ruin + Undying was the supreme killer meta. Especially that time where Undying still switched as many times as there were totems. It was still oppressive for solos even when Undying was changed to always go first. Freddy was rampant, and him + Wraith could ignore BT. Blight was and still is supreme. BT was a perk you really needed to run, and there were matches without a single Obsession if no DS. Thanks to those last two, tunneling was very rampant if the perks weren't in play.

Easily 2017 for killer. Still had some infinites and every map was basically garden of joy with the pallet safety and density of "The Game" and every pallet survivors also got DH for distance. On top of that old ds where you had to juggle survivors to hooks. Also think back then all quick vault were fast vault that were maybe changed in the summer of that year. That means for shack you could hug the wall without having to flare out for the fast vault.

The early days for killers were the worst time killers ever had. Infinite loops, Insta blind flashlights, bugs that allowed survivors to kidnap the killer and totally prevent them from playing the game, and then you had entitled survivor mains who began the circle of toxicity by saboing every single hook on the entire map completely preventing the killer from getting hooks and earning points. When killers responded by taking the perks needed to counter this, and responding to this toxicity with toxicity (face camping tunneling ect) nthe survivors cried and cried and cried. The old school players here will remember this and just how bad killers had it back then.
Right now the state of the game is awful but for other reasons having to do with rampant toxicity and extreme sweatiness.
