... dats a funny looking birb
4 -
Still cute and cuddly
2 -
For some reason, the birbs don't have any interest in that seed so I'm fine with the little chipmunks going for it. Although they eat it way too fast (which granted, is partially because the feeder is really small, it's got a light setup in it so most of it is the light and the solar panel).
The seed has a hard shell on it and the feeders don't support the big birbs (and the little birbs don't have the strength to break the shells). I want to get a tray feeder so I can get some of the bigger birbs but I need to figure out the squirrel situation if I get a tray...

For the squirrel situation just put up a sign that says NO EICHHÖRNCHEN and they'll leave you alone

Why hello there
must be a hot day for you too eh?

Whelp, guess I will stay away from the forums for a while (?)

So...I didn't say anything yesterday as I wasn't sure how I would even address it.
Holly escaped
I was bringing bird seed back in when she bolted out the door.
BUT
Doing my routine sweep of my backyard looking for her, I found her under my tool shed. Took some convincing with food (see above) but she did eventually come out so I could grab her.
Damn cat givin me a damn heart attack! I'm too old for this ish Holly!
It's strange because I've never had this issue with her before. I've had that door wide open and she's never shown any desire to go out it. It stormed all last night so hopefully she got Scared Straight 😅

Horror movie time!!!
4 -
Oh she does not look impressed

We weren't at the scary part yet Holly! Be patient, they're still setting the meddling teens up to get brutally murdered

we had rather large families of blue tits and sparrows this season, and I’m very happy to report the blue tits seem to be sticking around.
this tit’s still a bit yellow in between the blues, which to me says it’s still a relatively young birb (who really needs to be more cautious!)

What kind of food is that? I'm always on the lookout for new birb food in my feeders. For your cooperation, here is an Olive
3 -
In that jar? That’s peanut butter
we have regular, non-bird peanut butter which seems to attract all sorts of birbs, and somehow does not appear to be too salty for them. Magpies, sparrows, tits, starlings, even the woodpeckers seem to like it.
would urge you to be careful with non-bird peanut butter tho, because I obviously can’t tell how salty yours is
3 -
...huh. I did not know birds had peanut butter. Although I only just found out birds like grape jelly so I guess it makes sense they'd want a PB&J :D
Edit: oh I suppose Suet is basically peanut butter so I guess I kind of already do that, just suet cakes instead of a jar of pb

Not a picture just a cute thing but I met up with a guy I like and even tho we're not together it was just nice and I had a good time

Get a puppy and/or kitty and/or birb and/or Manatee with him and then post a pic!
1 -
The fact you went for Manatee yet ignored the founders of this thread, the Donkeys, Horses, and most importantly the Cows

Greatest post on these forums. The cute stuff is needed after some of the DBD games I get.

Holly is being a naughty kitty!!!
That's OLIVE'S food bowl Holly. Bad kitty!!!!!
I've noticed Holly is a bit chonky and figured this was happening. Now I just need to figure out what to do about it 😅

Kitty disappeared!!!! The Rescue is gonna kill me

They sell food dishes that come with an electronic tag, it stays closed and only opens when your cat comes close to it for food. Was made for people with multiple cats to keep one from eating multiple bowls of food.
Nibbi has a bunny friend. Rehabilitator fixed up this bunny's broken leg then let it free on their property. Bunny has decided to stick around and hang out with Nibbi in her outdoor enclosure.

That only works with dry food unfortunately and because my cats are spoiled AF, they get wet food :D
I have adjusted what I give Olive though so she leaves little to no food left out. Which seems to be working because Holly gets REAL friggin annoying at 8-9ish (dinner is at 10)

they look so shocked what did you say
1 -
I just looked at him. He often kinda looks shocked and waits my acceptance.

Good news everyone!
Sandi and Mandi were adopted. I was a little worried about those two. They'd be perfect "old people" cats but old people cats generally don't get adopted very quickly.
Great that they were adopted and you know what that means...
NEW KITTY PICTURES!!!!!
(not yet, we're waiting to see when the next batch of kitty cats will be coming in)

Something fun out there!

New Kitty day!!!!
Violet, Marigold (mom), buttercup, and Fern respectively

Fern looks like a disney character

Fern wouldn't hold still so that was the best picture I could get 😅

flying in approx. 1 hour
There’s certain irony in me being a nervous flyer, but Im just gonna distract myself with pygmy falcons
just look at how small he is

as a cat person i love pics like this
4 -
good news: i did not die
2 -
Wow...Marigold was already adopted. I would have expected the kittens to fly off the shelf but not the momma. Good for her! I got to give her one belly rub before she went bye bye.

DATS A BIG BIRB!
4 -
Blue Jay!!
heres a birb i spotted on iceland
even though he was situated in a very perilous spot positively swarmed with tourists, located just off a cliff edge
he was gone when we came past again…hope for the best i guess…

Angry birb...
But yeah, I've never seen a Blue Jay at my feeders at least. I actually didn't have anything the poor fella could eat from as the normal feeders are squirrel proof (they have a cage around them, birds can land on them with no problem but squirrels are too big so they close down around the feeder if they try to grab on).
I put out an old feeder that wasn't squirrel proof and they took a few nuts from it but then left. I hope they come back because those birbs are cool AF...

They want to break out and commit federal crimes so bad!!!
4 -
Free them!!!
3 -
Oh they tried their damnedest the little bastards
They've figured out how to knock over the cardboard barricades so had to keep an eagle eye on them.
Luckily cause they're so smol, I could just grab them and move them (or in one Violet case, I had to grab her damn foot and drag her back in like that "Nestle Crunch" meme).
They're lucky they're so cute

Fridge goes to Iceland, specifically Ingólfshöfði
(the last two are a Great Skua and its chick, “hidden” in the grass)

I spy a puffling
1 -
the last two pictures were a great skua chick and its rather concerned parent. I did not spot any pufflings myself, sadly. Unless you somehow did???
Apparently the pufflings were safely tucked away several meters into the ground, or quite literally on the sea (where they stay just floating about for 3 years until it’s their time to nest?? wild)
