[Rant] Having a hard time to enjoy the game after 7.1.0

This is a rant with a question at the end.

I really begin to think the devs made some weird changes to the MMR system. I think I was around mid tier MMR, because it was pretty 50-50 when I played both killer and survivor how the matches would go.

But since 7.1.0 my game changed drasticly. I play mostly solo queue when playing survivor

– Killer has already like 1-2 kills with 5 gens left or has hooked us all at least once with 4-5 gens left to do

– My points in the endgame screen are mostly less then 15k because I can’t do much

– I even have trouble getting a few gens done for the rift challenges, while normally I would get at least one gen done in the game

– Killers just camp and tunnel like crazy now, while I didn’t even have that occur much before this patch (even when 7 cakes are burned, the killer just camps and tunnel)

– Killer finds me first so many times now. I check my surroundings pretty well and no crows where flying or no aura perks were activated at that time. But still the killer finds me so fast and knows exactly where I am

– Killers stacking like 3-4 gen perks while they clearly don’t need it because of the difference in skill.

But as killer it’s also not fun at this point. I think I’m around the Mid-tier, high-low-tier. I just play to have fun and when I have someone on death hook, I most of the times ignore that person to search for someone else who is not on death hook yet. I also let most survivors just go unless I go for adept or a challenge where I have to kill.

But I feel I’m getting mismatched with killer as well. I get survivors who know exactly where every pallet and window is, survivors that just play the objective very well (and that’s not a problem of course, but it feels miserable not getting a feeling you can do something).

Or it’s completely the other way around and I steamroll the survivors with 5 gens left. At that point I just let them all escape since it’s no fun for them either.

I always play relaxed. I don’t mind if I escape or not. I don’t play with sweat on my whole body to get a 4k.

But the game is just not fun for me at this point anymore when I get steamrolled as survivor with 3-4 stacked gen perks (or even without gen perks) without getting much points or progress to my challenge or when I steamroll others.

I’m just having a hard time to enjoy the game after 7.1.0. I didn’t change my playstyle at all, so what is so difference now? I really don’t get it.

Anyone else maybe having the same experience as me since the latest update?

Just consider yourself lucky if this is only since 7.1.0 for you. It's been basically standard DbD for awhile. I'm at 9 solo queue matches today so far and survived one, and that killer was exceptionally bad and hardly managed to get a hook so it wasn't a big deal to be proud of. In the remaining 8 games 0-2 generators got done, so it was not even close to a win.

My experience in solo queue is so bad that I don't play killer anymore, I don't want to kill anyone because if those survivors get the same kind of matches as I do, they've been dying all day and I don't want to kill them yet another match. So I can't say anything about the killer experience.

Can't confirm heavy tunneling and camping. Tunneling happens occasionally, but it's not too common. I've had one game today where the killer left chases to go back to hook and tunnel the unhooked survivor as the unhook happened. Haven't had a killer camping in a long time.

I think the devs should focus more on match quality rather than kill rate and try to balance MMR so that you get closer matches and not certain kill/escape rates that result from one-sided stomps. I feel it would be healthier for the game if the losing side felt more often like they had a chance to win. But that's not how it works in hockey I guess.

I relate to the solo queue frustrations. It’s hard to even see them fix the issues sadly. It’s a really hard thing to fix.
