What's wrong with the MMR?
Mind to see this screenshot?
I'm fairly new to the game (I've been playing for three months now) and as some of my friends said I can adapt and learn quickly... I don't think the MMR takes that into consideration but that is normal you know it's just an algorithm just 0's and 1's.
Now I don't know how the MMR works (if someone could explain what does it take into consideration I'll appreciate it) but If I learned something is that most of the time prestige means much more than rank, with that said ######### IS THE GAME DOING PAIRING ME WITH PRESTIGE 79???!!!!!
And look prestige not always means skill but as you can see I got clapped, I got folded like laundry folded like I was an omelette.
Of course they T-bagged and one of them trash to talked through a ps chat (I didn't screenshot that because I deleted the conversation) Is just an anecdote I wanted share.

See where it says "te lo has pasado bien"? That menas "did you have fun?" I don't use that much because I'm not sure what it does but tbh at that time I would've just put -2 on that scale

This iis how MMR woks.
Survivors gain 1 point if scape lose 1 if die.
Killers gain 1 point for kill and lose 1 for scape.
Bhvr use thst number to pair you with people of your lvl BUT in order to be faster searching a game they augment your MMR diference.
Also, if a killer leave a lobby, that lobby have priority and its autofilled with anyone (like you in this case).
Few days ago, Knightlight from team eternal (best dbd team with infinite hours in the game) posted on twitter he faced and 80 hours killer.
So yeah, MMR and Matchmaking sucks.

Prestige doesn't always count as skill, sometimes its just someone who played the game a lot. I've seen many a p100's be a potato. Ive plenty of hours behind the game between Killer and Survivor and have good matches and not so good matches. For instance, my Nemy match last night went awful with my usual roflwhomp build. Then I swapped to my challenge build which was the backpack build (Mad Grit, Agi, Awakened Awareness and Iron grasp) and stomped a mudhole in some rumps just memeing around.
For going as far as they did to to contact you through the messaging system I'd wager they dont win very often and decided to act like they were god-tier entirely. Id also go as far and say they were a SWF, which presents its own challenge sometimes via comms.

It doesn't work. Nothing can convince me that it does. My games are all over the place. One match it's a 5000 hour blight who kills us at five gens. The next game is a legion with 400 hours. I've also seen enough anecdotal evidence from streamers to know that it's not just me. The game may have a matchmaking system but something is seriously wrong with it. I don't remember it being this bad when it was first released. I've seen a huge uptick of extreme mismatches starting some months after the prestige system was changed. Probably from all the people dodging any game that looks remotely challenging due to high prestige players. If backfill really is the issue then they need to come down hard on lobby dodging.

Prestige is not considered at all with mmr. As it should.
A player isn't bad cause he switched from his 100p ace to the 0p dwight.
Also... you seem to have done well? Second highest bp count. A kill. Congrats! (I mean it)
They t-bagged... ok. People will do that, just try to move on. It isn't worth the time to bother with it.
Does the ps5 and ps4 appear as different platforms? Cause I can't imagine bothering to get off the pc and going into a ps chat to trash talk someone... even on the phone app.
I can barely imagine it when you ARE on a ps4 or ps5...
You could probably report that to sony if they stepped over a line somewhere.

@bearr_trap I know prestige≠skill but that game went something like this:
Alright let me go ahead and scout for survivors *first gen pops* wow that was fast Oh look a Meg! *3 minute long chase* ok, I finally got the down and the hook let my just *doors are open* ... *I get T-bagged at the exit* you're not saving your friend?... No? Alright 1k game you can't always win
-----------------------PS chat-------------------------
OMG you have to be the most cancer killer I have never seen!, You are terrible at the game so you needed to camp the only survivor you got
-You T-bagged me at entrance, I'm sure with some coordination you had a chance of saving him
Get good kid
-Vale se acabó (Fine, I'm not having it)
you blocked this person
So, when I get "bullied" in a chat I just write down the last message in Spanish, the reason why it's another anecdote but it's besides the point

Now that I think about it that guy was messed up

Not gonna lie, I chuckled pretty hard at that. Did not expect that 🤣
But I agree with Alice, you did great! Even if you played a fair game, there's a chance the opposing side will talk smack. Must be their desperation to validate themselves in life somehow.

Thanks for all those encouraging comments, It was an anecdote I wanted to share and I got a lot of knowledge about how the MMR system works.
My games have been normal so far so this quite rare

You got lots of bp and a kill - I think you did really well considering you’re on a learning trajectory (I could barely get any points after 3 months - actually even now lol)
don’t be disheartened by trolls, you’ll get them on both sides. The fact that they trash talked shows you shook them up enough.
good luck in the test if your development though as a survivor I’m worried facing you lol

For 1 thing, if 3 survivors die and 1 escape, it would be roughly +3-1 = +2 MMR.
Getting a single 4K gains alot of MMR.
To OP, it doesnt matter how long you play, if you have similar MMR to those survivors, you're matched against them. Just dont let those toxic survivors affect how you treat against decent (human being) survivors.
A Rebecca trash talked a Nea and call Nea a rat for pre-escaping and let other 3 died, I defended Nea that I used Rancor and chased Nea, forced her to run to a gate and escape, to not getting moried. That Rebecca was like "so what?"
If Nea getting moried, it doesnt change the fact other 3 on hooks/ground and die later. The difference would be 4K instead of 3K.
Its pointless to ever argue/explain with some people, just ignore and move on.

@C3Tooth Thanks for the comment, it didn't really affect me (I got annoyed but nothing else).
@Forsakenviper34 thanks for completing my skill!, I hope to see you in the trials

This isn't quite true. The amount of MMR you gain or lose is not a fixed amount (and certainly not 1), it depends on your rating compared to the rating of your opponents. If you win against (kill) someone of roughly the same skill level, you'll get an average amount of rating. Meanwhile, if you win against (kill) someone of a much higher skill level, the game awards you more rating than normal. The opposite is true if you win against someone of a lower skill level; you'll gain less rating than you normally would. This same process happens for everyone in the match, with each survivor being treated as a separate 1v1 encounter. Then, all the different rating changes are added together and applied at once.
To give an example of what this means in practice: If you were to kill two good Survivors, but the other two Survivors equal to your rating managed to escape, you could still end up gaining some rating because the game recognized that you managed to catch tougher opponents.
As for the original post, it's tricky to say much with only a screenshot of the end screen. The prestiges you see there have no impact on matchmaking since they are in no way a reflection of someone's skill (someone doesn't suddenly play worse because they switched to a new Survivor). Grades as well aren't factored into matchmaking since they reset every month and again aren't a reflection of skill. Judging from the Bloodpoints as well, it seems like you were the second highest scorer in that match. I can't speak for the match itself from only a screenshot, but from what I can see, this doesn't seem too out of the ordinary.

Yeah that's the thing in all this. There seems to be a really big disconnect between the designers of the system and the people who experience it. They keep saying "well, more often than not, the system places players in matches that are fairly close in terms of MMR". That could be 100% true, but it completely misses the fact that most lobbies (in my experience) have backfills. Backfills that they also state are essentially pulled from the next available player. So right away the accuracy is undone and rendered ineffective.
If you examine SBMM relative to what is intended to happen and the result that occurs when it functions as intended, I'm sure it looks great. But that only paints a partial picture.

Are we even sure that 1 backfill = MMR turns off?
Wouldn’t it make more sense that matchmaking is based on how long players have been waiting for a match, so if someone lobby dodges, it just recalculates the MMR search algorithm with the new wait times?
This means that the actual issue is if some people have been waiting for 5 minutes, because there were long queue times, and a bunch of lobby dodges, that the MMR search algorithm is being calculated based off of a 5 minute wait time? And the same matchmaking would have happened if there were 0 backfills and a 5 minute survivor queue time.

It's probably much easier for killer to reach higher MMR since the game is balanced for a higher killrate. Survivors also lose MMR if someone dies. So it's not any wonder why players have games like that

New killer syndrome. The first killer games wiil be mentally easy and your mmr will skyrocket, lot of newish killers will suddenly hit a pretty brutal mmr ceiling. I had exactly the same thing when I started playing killer. Early games were easy but 2/3 months in I started getting mad skilled bully squads absolutely wrecking me until I learned to counterplay them.
Plus tbf you did pretty good imo, sure it was only 1 kill, but that surv had reasonable bp so you clearly didn't just facecamp or tunnel for an early kill. Your bp total is also quite high so looks like they game took a while and you gave them a run for their money. How many hooks did you get total?

Hide the prestiges in the lobby (as the ranks early). Please.

i started to play on pc in the last month, and i have 50 hours in this game there, and i was pairing against 3, 4 and 7k hours players, so many times... they had experience, and im not. Why?. This game IS SO MUCH FRUSTRATING for begginers.

Know that no matter what you say, players who haven't seen the rating numbers won't believe you. In fact, many people are currently complaining about MMR. Either way the current MMR system is flawed and needs to be improved.
2 -
I was just wondering if you could tell us how MMR starts? Does it start at the highest, lowest, or kind of the middle of the range? That could explain a lot for when I switch killers and I go from more lower/average to average/higher players.

When a survivor criticizes 90% of the time I can tell by their follow up responses they never play killer. It's funny really!

Them being blank looks kind of bad so they should either rework the menu or put in profile pics. Both require work that they might not be willing to do.

How can we seriously trash the devs when we all know their MMR system isn't even being given a good chance to function properly, with all the lobby dodging and backfilling going on?
We are absolutely doing it to ourselves.
