Is VPNing (as survivor) unethical?
I've recently moved from North America to a region where people barely speak English and found myself struggling to make friends as I also don't feel comfortable with the local language(s) yet. I still play with friends in NA whenever I get the chance and get around 140 ping, which is not ideal but I personally think is still playable. However when they're asleep or at work and I'm alone because timezones I find myself VPNing in order to at least be able to communicate with and add people to play with.
From my understanding, I'm willingly putting myself at a disadvantage and gain nothing other than what I personally desire from doing this. I don't VPN as killer as I know how that can be annoying to deal with - it's literally just me playing survivor in another region and making the game more difficult for myself in exchange for making friends I can effectively communicate with.
Is there any rule I haven't seen against VPNs in general? Or can what I'm doing be considered okay?

I can't answer your question, but I have to say that, granting VPN-ing is forbidden by BHVR, I hope you don't get a ban or other repercussions because you admitted to it here. You're doing the right thing by asking if it qualifies as some kind of cheat or advantage.

There's no rules for VPNing.
VPNing as survivor has only downsides though. Lag and you get hit from far away cause you have high ping.
As killer though, you have only benefits, hits that shouldn't have hit in regular ping. Essentially a 5th convenient perk.
Btw thank you BHVR for letting us know that killers VPNing in game... 🤬 Bring back the old ping indicator in lobby so we can dodge bad internet and VPN killers.
