Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

One of the worst buffs in DbD history

Calm Spirit

As you may know, in the patch 6.1.0 the Perk got a "buff" which made opening Chests and cleansing/booning Totems silent (mostly, will get to that), but at the cost of having 30% debuff to those speeds to compensate...

In reality this "buff" is a hard nerf, because the silent action speed doesn't matter at all, in the time the Killer would have heard the bone rattling / lock pulling sounds you would most likely be exposed to their LoS anyways, making this a detriment to use due to the low action speed.

Also, the silent actions are not true for chests, after you fully complete the action the chest opening sound still plays, making this aspect of the Perk completely worthless.

I understand what their thought process was with this buff, you're a calm spirit, you take your time to do certain things more quietly, that's why the 30% debuff to the action speeds, but in gameplay this doesn't translate well at all.

What can be done?

In my honest opinion, I think the part of the Perk that was added in the Patch 6.1.0 should be activate-able, so you can choose to have slow action speeds for quiet cleansing / chest opening and you're not forced into it.

For example the Perk description could be:

Calm Spirit

Animals seem to trust you as they often stay calm in your presence.

Woodland creatures are not alerted in your presence. (Could just mention crows, also no need for percentages if it's always 100%)

Press and hold the Active Ability Button while cleansing/blessing Totems or opening/rummaging through Chests to slow these action speeds by 40/35/30%, but they're silent. (Could be even slower, because it's now activate-able)

Allows you to overcome the urge to scream.

The Perk should also allow you to pet Maurice but that's besides the point.
