Fix the Matchmaking
How is it possible to get matched with people that are way below the own skill or way above, thats playnig is basically imposible. How hard can as be to create a working matchmaking???? You even added MMR and it is still not working

Those gross mismatches could be from there not being enough players at the needed MMR in your region, or much more likely from lobby shopping and the resultant backfilling happening.

The matchmaking is so poor that the only time this game is playable for me as survivor is past midnight. Otherwise it's just baby survivor/killers everywhere. Bad killers just five gen hook camp/hard tunnel every match. It's garbage to play against.

Honestly this is killing the game for me at the moment. Something has felt off the past few weeks so I started logging my results as killer. Know what the two most popular results are? 0K and 4K. And neither feel good.

The matchmaking started going south for me just before Alien released. Since then it's been completely inconsistent. I should not have to wait till most of the UK is asleep before the matchmaking works.

It certainly feels like matchmaking quality has been worse than ever before in solo queue. But they refuse to provide any sort of transparency about our own MMR or teammate MMR, so it's hard to say. Really frustrating.
They insist most matches are close in terms of MMR. I say prove it, otherwise I don't believe them. If my solo queue matches are close MMR-wise, then people with similar MMR have wildly differing skill levels.
They loosened SBMM quite a bit after the initial launch because players said it felt too competitive. But I think there's a massive disconnect with asymm players between what they *say* they want and what they actually want. Asymm players usually have a knee jerk response that they aren't competitive, but they also hate losing. Make that make sense. I think asymm players are typically very competitive, they just hate it when their *opponents* are also competitive.

You can either get GOOD OR FAST matchmaking (depending on your fitting MMR) but not both. The Playerbase is neither big enough nor well enough distributed among all skill levels for both.
Many people complained about long queues after the implementation of MMR based matchmaking and in return behave implemented the softening of matchmaking parameters in Relation to queue times.

My argument with that reasoning has always been that it's a self-fulfilling prophecy when you only offer one or the other. You alienate competitive players when you only offer fast, and you drive away casuals when you only offer competitive. People aren't going to go to a restaurant and order something that isn't on the menu. They'll go to a different restaurant.

I like a 4K if I earned it, but I get what you are saying. It's literally the same with me. I'll either destroy lobby after lobby for 4 hours late at night, or get destroyed without so much as one hook, much less one kill.

Well DBD in its current form and popularity doesn't offer both, period.
It simply doesn't have the overall popularity/playerbase and skill/MMR distribution like other big pvp titles.
There is a reason that this is the only long lasting asymmetrical pvp game. It filled a genre void and didn't do all the same mistakes as other games in this genre before it and survived long enough to take root and establish itself but is still too niche to fullfil the requirements for what people ask for a working matchmaking.

It's about time you get to see your own mmr and after the game you can see everyone else's too.

hello! let’s learn a quick lesson today!
you cannot possibly have great match making quality but fast queue times, it is impossible in this current day of age. it’s always either quality over quantity OR quantity over quality, and simply put;
quality over quantity: you receive the blessing of being paired up with players of your own rank, but at the cost of having long queue times scoring up to 5+ minutes.
quantity over quality: you receive the blessing of fast queue times scoring from 5+ seconds, but at the cost of having terrible or incredible players in the lobby you’re in.
its always gonna have to be 1 or the other, because the match maker would probably break if they tried to do both. that’s why games such as overwatch can’t do both. people love fast queue times, and that’s why many would rather have better queue times then an actual quality match. however i prefer quality over quantity and i don’t mind waiting 1+ minutes just to find a match if it means i’m being paired up with players of my own skill level.
the matchmaker tries its hardest with what goal it’s been given, it can’t make everybody happy, but only time will tell if the gaming industry can have both fast queue times and great quality matches.

yeah, i don't know what happened but MMR has declined, like a lot, and it's seriously burning me out. rarely do i get or see good players anymore, it's mostly players who literally just bought the game now. doesn't feel as rewarding.

The matchmaking isn't designed for lobby shopping for some reason if they change it to prevent it then the game will be much more fair

Just REMOVE this system. Keep it for beginners (<1.000 hours) and thats it. Randomize the rest.

I totally agree

I doubt most of the playerbase has 500hrs

But why is this still a thing is my question 💀😭

I'm pretty sure I'm the most desperate for BHVR to remove lobby dodging. Just so people stopped spamming MuH BaCkFiLl every single thread because that isn't the main issue with matchmaking. It's the matchmaking. One day Beatricks, one day.

Why is lobby dodging still a thing? I can come up with a few almost reasonable reasons to yeet on out, but for the most part it all boils down to wanting easier trials imo.
Some will say they're protesting SWF. Some will say they're protesting other imbalances, real or imagined. Or a cosmetic. Or prestiges. Or items. Or gut feelings. Or tea leaves. Or backfills themselves.
But we know it borks up the matchmaking. And we do it anyway, swearing it all is on the devs.

When asked if we favor queue times or quality matchmaking, this community overwhelmingly voted for the queue times.
For their MMR system to be fair, it would need several minutes to pair everyone up properly. Definitely more than most seem willing to wait for, and admittedly very frustrating given we cannot even see the MMRs.
But when they tested out the quality matchmaking it led to unfortunate wait times, and the sweats quickly got sick of constantly getting other sweats game after game. Like how it probably should be, but those kinda trials one after the other will burn most out fast.
Despite all that I'd still like them to test no lobbies. Just load directly into a match. Let their matchmaking do it's thing interrupted. See the results after a week or so. It would also have the side effect of killing off that last-second swapping bs survs can do.

here! 10k hrs for yrs solo q main, but the Matchmaking is so bad, i do leave dbd and will came back, if dbd has an MM or a Ranked Mode, or do what you want bhvr, cs2 is a great Game! :D
but, no! i hope dbd will die! its will be great, cause bhvr will dissolve like salt in water, bye bye :)) and in the future, if a game is made by bhvr or by people who used to work at bhvr, I will move far away from the game that they are helping to develop
