Today Has Not Really Been Too Good.

It seems like anytime I play Killer, I just get the maps that are the worst possible thing for my Killer.

Want to do Artist's Archives? Multi-level maps. Goodluck trying to hit things.

Want to play Singularity? I get nothing by Tobba Landing and Lery's Memorial.

Want to play an M1 Killer? Garden of Joy, The Game, Decimated Borgo, nothing but those maps over and over.

Part of me thinks the game just hates me.

I personally think that maps should be designed with Killer powers in mind and vice versa. A lot of maps just suck for certain Killers.

Earlier today I had someone send me to Tobba Landing as Singularity, in the post-game chat they were trying to say that "the map is good because you can hide your biopods" even though tagging people with my biopods was basically impossible since the slightest obstruction prevents their power from working.

Or being sent to Lery's Memorial and once I got my Archive done, I just turned my brain off since I really didnt have a reason to play with 2 Hooks by 5 Generators and basically nothing else to show for it since all supply cases have EMPs ready and I cant even use my power anyways. The players I went up against of course prolonged the match as long as possible and didnt leave until the very last second of EGC.

Sometimes this game just feel really unfun or unfair, I dont really know how to put it any different, sometimes it feels like it just crushes any amount of spirit or motivation you have to play the game. Not all the time though, just sometimes.

Doesnt help that I have 9 days to clean up the current Rift before it ends while managing college, feels like a chore honestly.

It’s impossible to balance all maps for every killer. And they do need to be balanced for survivors as well. But like Lery’s and Toba are great for stealth killers yet bad for ranged killers. You can’t really make those maps good for both because those two classes of killers function in completely different ways. And none of that considers that maps still need to be balanced for survivors as well.

I understand that balancing that type of stuff is difficult, however it seems like a lot of the recent changes especially involving map reworks hardly take into account community feedback and constructive criticism.

Because community feedback tends to be an echo chamber that doesn’t consider nuance (like how Ghostface, Huntress, and Singularity can’t all be strong on Toba) and is really biased. If they followed community feedback to an extreme extent this game would die just like Death Garden.

Bring the map offerings that are best for you to get challenges done. Probably the best purpose for the offerings imo.

Behavior is survivor sided and hates Killers. The more you just accept that the more you expect the ######### end of the stick with every patch note.

    Problem:

I have to deal with other people using Map Offerings... so it does not consistently fix the issue. And with my luck, I rarely get my Offering to go through, or if it does, someone DCs in the screen transition so it ends the match.

I hear you on the Rift. I have 15 more levels to go, and as much as I really really want Mikaela's amazeballs new outift, I haven't bought it because I might need my Auric Cells to purchase the last few levels of the Rift. I was planning to play more tonight, but I ran into a Tiktok content creator farming content for their TikTok and you can read the full story on the "do you lobby dodge streamers" thread but basics for here, I just DCed to end it rather than give them twenty minutes of them not actually playing the game and just tormenting me footage. It made me so angry that I can't play anymore tonight, something that hasn't happened to me in well over a year.

We will see how I feel tomorrow, but... I strongly think I might just play enough to get to 74 then straight up buy level 85 then quit the game until the next chapter. It's something I've never done since I started playing back with Tome VI, but.... yeah.

I agree with you but they really should take some criticism into consideration.

Everyone knows Borgo was bad for killers because of the amount of strong, interconnected loops yet they didn't even address this in the new rework and even added stronger ones to it.

Yes listening exclusively to players is a bad idea, but they still need to listen to some feedback around map design because right now it's probably the biggest issue with the game.

You're right about that. But it doesn't mean, that they should completely disregard killer powers when it comes to maps. I mean, Trapper and Billy are 2 of their original killers and they get worse with every new map and map rework because they don't take the time to take different killer powers into consideration at all. And this is only going to get worse. Unless they rework these map dependent killers completely.

And let's be honest, how many maps are there, that aren't good for survivors? Midwich, Dead Dawg Saloon, Wrecker's Yard, RPD East Wing and maybe the new Rancid Abbatoir on a bad day. But that's about it. That's 5 out of 42. That's a 12% chance you get a hard map. That's really not that bad.

maps should have more variants to cater for killers like ranged killers, m1, and high mobility, etc

  • Ayodam
    Ayodam Member Posts: 3,222

Both RPD variants, Midwich, Eyrie, all but like one of the Coldwind maps, the MacMillan estate maps minus Storehouse (and possibly ironworks of killer doesn’t break door), Haddonfield (two strong houses but the rest is deadzone), Toba Landing in a way, maybe more but I’m not in a position to look them all up. But there are a lot of maps that aren’t good for survivors. Far more than 5.

I love Garden of Joy. I play Freddy and Myers. I have no problem getting a 4K on that map. Maybe because Freddy can morph. I also like it as Trapper. Those narrow hallways always gets them. Who is your M1 killer?

The map thing drives nuts. I swear it's something embedded in the code. If you are playing a killer whose power is severely restricted on indoor maps, you're going to get indoor maps half the time. There are 30+ maps in the game and I get Lerys 2 times in 5 games and RPD in another on Singularity. Why is this a thing?

3x Scratched mirror Myers on Shattered Square yesterday, eh what are you gonna do. My kingdom for a map with LOS blockers.

One team all running MFT, get a hit and I'll see that survivor next week, thanks for stopping by.

Thank goodness for Rancor at least it got me 1 mori kill.

Wraith, Pig, Ghostface, and Trapper are the main M1 Killers I play.

RPD West Wing is not a great map for killers by any means. Well, as long as you don't play Nurse. But if Nurse is our standard of balance, then we are in deep trouble.

The Coldwinds are still survivor sided. Rancid Abbatoir has the potential to spawn very few pallets, which are weak on top of it but the rest is still more than favorable when you play survivor. Rotten Fields is ridiculous in the number of main tiles that it spawns, Thompson House and Torment Creek are in no way good maps for killers and Cowshed still spawns these obnoxious long tiles (sometimes interconnecting with each other) and a good amount of main tiles.

McMillan is survivor sided. The Coal Tower is more or less balanced depending on rng but besides that all of them are great for survivors. Even the previously killer sided Shelter Woods is now a good map for survivors with its abundance of pallets and a good main building. Suffocation Pit has a big problem with its 5gen spawn, I'll give you that. I don't know when this started because it wasn't always like this but it's a problem that I hope they will get around to fixing. Other than that, it's still a good map for survivors.

I don't know what version of Haddonfield you have been playing on but last time I checked there were 3 strong houses and little reason to actually leave them. The streets are extremely unsafe but the houses are as safe as it gets. None of them can be mind gamed and none of them can be disarmed. Plus, you reach one from anywhere on the map.

Toba Landing is more or less fair but with its main building and some of the pallets and other tiles that it spawns it's definitely not a killer sided map. I have noticed though, that since the last patch there doesn't seem to be any chance to spawn double windows anymore, which is definitely a good change (god that was awful).

Unless you really care about winning you can take that opportunity to "go make a cup of coffee". If I see a hated map more than two times in a session I can't be bothered to play it normally. I play it with zero effort.

I think I've heard/read that if you were winning "too much" the game had a tendency to chose a map where you had a tendency to lose. Just saying it makes me think it's probably not true but it certainly sounds like something they might do.

I've never played as Wraith. He's listed as an Easy killer. He usually gets me and any team I'm on. He moves really fast when cloaked, like 2X speed?

  • AbsolutGrndZer0
    AbsolutGrndZer0 Member Posts: 1,474

Ew, yeah. At least you still have challenges to do, I'm pretty much out except ones that make me like:

  • Iron_Cutlass
    Iron_Cutlass Member Posts: 3,428

Wraith moves 6.0 m/s while cloaked. Base movement speed is 4.6 m/s. So not exactly x2.

Also I dont really struggle against Wraith when I play Survivor. I kind of struggle to play them sometimes as Killer though.

I get that they can be really sneaky and really annoying in SoloQ but using the HUD and audio cues goes a long way to dealing with them, also they dont really have too much going for them in terms of chasing, sometimes the post-uncloak speed boost just isnt enough to catch Survivors.
