Unlocked Genmats idea

What if we could create an outpost that in order to collect the Genmats at the end, you had to unlock it by destroying or defeating a certain guard or trap? Maybe even up to 2 for 20 units each on outpost capacity limit.

These raids are fun and I love being able to zip thru and get the Genmats no problem. I just wish that a challenge could arise to where we would find ourselves getting all the way there super fast but have to back track and find "the key" and come back to collect.

I know there would probably be problems for speed runners but me myself I like to destroy everything if I can before reaching the Genmats at the end anyways so maybe just have "the key" standing in place somewhere along the path or somewhat hidden or even attach it to a trap or guard for more options.

This idea isn't thought out all the way yet but I hope the rough draft of this could evolve into something useful through comments. 😊

    I've seen this suggested before but I'm strongly opposed. The problem is not all players are good faith builders. If this was done in a fun way and builders didn't take advantage of it then it'd be one thing. But if you've been playing when the spontaneous mod was first released then you'd realize that builders can't be trusted to not abuse something. For example, what if I put my "key guard" in a place that isn't accessible to the raider? Then the outpost can't be completed and the only way forward in the expedition is to abandon the outpost. You always have to consider what someone with nefarious ideas would do with something. The only way I can see a feature like this being implemented is if it was only available in social raids. But why waste the time and effort developing something that 0.001% of the player base would use?

    Oh and btw, there is a sort of a way to do what you are talking about already. Where you can get the gen mat easy but have to fight your way back out. You just make a corrosive cube (CC) hallway with a couple bends in it and have the walkway have second wave mod on it. You effectively need two paths to the gen mat. The shorter path being the CC hallway. Once the gen mat is collected, the CC hallway (if correctly built) is almost impossible to back track through. Then the raider is forced to push forward through uncharted territory to find their way out.
