Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Don't get dissuaded to report cheaters and text chat profanity!

Ever since I have started observing (not really participating) in the forums, I have noticed that many people would claim that their report went unnoticed on such subjects. I don't know if the times have changed and perhaps BHVR put more emphasis on the report system following its update, but for me they actually took action very quickly and I got a cheater banned alongside someone trying to get past the chat filter to call me the n-word in just this past month. From my past experience, I sometimes wouldn't even get an email back so I understand how people might feel that it's a waste of time.

I think that you just NEED to attach any form of evidence, for the cheater I managed to take several screenshots of what could imply cheating but not at the same time. I think the story I provided alongside the images made more sense as this cheater slugged us all before the game even began but I didn't have time to react to show it happen. Although it's very difficult to slug everyone at five gens, it's not impossible so I was very lucky to manage to get a picture of them picking up a survivor far away after just hooking me. The cheater also had legacy cosmetics and it's important to point that out for BHVR as they also take that into account. You don't need to have video recordings because I know they can be a burden on your storage! For the n-word situation, the killer was just salty they didn't get a kill after tunneling the entire game so they spelt it out letter by letter and the 'g' part got tagged out. I took a screenshot of the entire chat to show that this wasn't provoked in any way and I think that helped a bit.

The cheater got banned after a single day and the other got banned after (I think) 2-3 days from the initial report.

The only time I ever got an immediate response to a report was when I included a link to a pic in the report comments, so maybe a single piece of evidence does go a long ways.

Yeah, for sure, I mean if you put yourself in BHVR's shoes and you receive no evidence for a report but words that could easily be manipulated, it'll be hard to justifiably issue a ban on someone's account based on a guess if the information is correct or not. I think that we just have to realize that BHVR has no power to look back at matches or even at specific leaderboards to confirm what's been said/done. I'm not sure if they can even see the text chat really.

Honestly I've gotten more feedback on reports I do in game now that they show you when action was taken. I don't report often either, just when I see blatant cheating or harassment that does violate their ToS. I don't know if they actually go through with all of them, but it's nice to get some kind of response.

That said, I still believe when it comes to cheats you need video proof for them, unfortunately.

When it comes to subtle cheating then certainly because screenshots don't show speed or other stuff cheaters might do, but if it's painstakingky obvious, like in my case, then there's no need.

I'll submit an in-game report when I think it's warranted but since I don't record my gameplay and can't be bothered to jump through hoops submitting a ticket on their webite, I know my reports against hackers are unlikely to have any action taken.

In-game reports don't do much since many people spam report for silly stuff. As I said, you don't need to record your gameplay, just screenshot like I did which was just one press of a button. Submitting it through the website shows your commitment and that you aren't just reporting because it's convenient.

I've done 3 reports months ago with video proof before. I never got a response back if an action was taken ingame and date it was taken. I don't know if it's because I'm on console or what but to receive nothing at all really diminished my feelings for taking actions tbh. If I'm sending proof and I'm getting no response at all ingame, I rather not try anymore. But hopefully others get responses i guess.

Frankly, it's a shame that you even need video proof to have an unfair player banned for cheating and there is currently no automatic (mind you, useful) protection against it.

When I hear from competitors like Riot Game that a specially developed protection Vanguard will now also be used for League of Legends in the future, I wonder whether this necessary step will also be taken for Dead by Daylight at some point. I don't even play League of Legends, but there's a focus on that topic and it's even F2P.

Well, as long as money continues to come in from skins sold here in dbd, people are apparently completely satisfied with the game and that's also a reason why Diablo Immortal worked so well.

Probably around 15 seconds. With blatant sandbagging. Like pointing to lockers to rat me out. And i know that they will rat me out because the killer would slug and let them wiggle off. So i record the moment they run to my locker, point and killer opens it. And thats the video.

But unless they are asking for a longer video. Thats hard for me. Because the file would be too big to even upload unfortunately.

No I just thought maybe it'd be an entire match recording and that might be putting them off... That's super weird.

Yea. I'm just wondering maybe its because I'm just on console or something. Idk. Cause they ppl I've only seen online who get feedbacks ingame are PC players so far

I'm on PC, submit videos, and get no response. Not even any views on the video. I don't bother any more.

I report both. I screenshot chats being called big chested (pick your misogynistic word of choice) loser, among other things, or sexual things said to me that make me wanna vomit and send em in.

I haven't got any report yet that action was taken. I just report them to steam and steam usually does something at least. They do ban the hackers very quick (steam) I have better luck with them ^^

I wish anonymous mode didn't exist sometimes because Steam is really good at stuff like that undeniably. Most anonymous users take advantage of situations like that and it's annoying.

I'm sorry you had/have to go through that because I mean these people are meant to be adults yet have the maturity of a child. It's not exclusive to Dead by Daylight but it's definitely prominent to see such childish behavior. Don't let them influence you in any way.

Me neither, but sometimes some people just deserve to get reported to wake them up. The sooner the better.
